I love me my Shepard Druid, the fear in my DM's eyes sustains me.

I tend to see the different Druid circles as being determined by local culture. Up in the mountains you might have Land druids that focus on harnessing the elements, while down the mountain and out on the steppe you've got Shepherd druids who tend to the herds of -sheep- cows. But take a trot down into the huge fissure in the earth, and you find cliff-dwelling tribes who learned Spore druidry from the Underdark miconids. It all really depends on what area of expertise the people of a culture value in their wise persons. Those bits of ancient wisdom that are useful for a certain community will get passed on, while other areas of natural study get forgotten, or their practitioners leave to seek places where their methods are needed. Also, not all ancient Druid wisdom necessarily comes from mortals. Some might have been divinely inspired by nature gods (note the overlap between Druid and Nature domain Clerics) or by the Fae. Some might come from nature spirits that ancient Druids communed with in days of yore. Some might have been taught by wise monsters, such as treants, dryads, dragon turtles, or the like. Some might even have derived their wisdom from the efforts of intelligence; ancient, forgotten Wizards having derived spells, that were passed along by rote for so long that they became the intuitive arts of a Druid rather than that of an academic. (Note: nothing says old, rural cultures can't ALSO have Wizards, too. Books of "witchcraft" passed down through family lines, cat familiers, etc).

My favorite character I'm using right now is a LE Drow Shepherd Druid. He was trained by a hag coven and has a love for all things Unseelie. He has already dominated several of the fights he's been involved in, thanks to his "beasties" he enjoys conjuring so much. Nothing is more fun than laughing maniacally while your rot grub swarms are eating their way through a helpless hill giant >:D

Only hing to say: You certainly got a lot out of those Zingers. At least two bits!

The party's treachery Paladin turned on me during a one shot (shocking I know). He was less than pleased when I summoned 16 constrictor snakes on top of him with an upcasted conjure animals. My only words were, "Parry this you fucking casual."

I played a one-shot as a Shepherd druid, I was able to use the four polar bears although I ended up dying. It was pretty sick.

I absolutely hate circles so I will flavor my subclass as a Druid triangle (the superior shape)

Idea for a character: Drow, Circle of the Shepherd. When he dies, a swarm of angry spiders erupts from his flesh to attack the enemy!

I just want to let you know, your channel has come across my reccomendations before, but that "zingers" bit absolutely won my subscription fair and square.

Give him Healing Spirit and 1 Level of Life Cleric and watch your DM cry. Also calculate the average amount of healing in a 5 player group every round if everyone triggers the Spirit and is within range of the Unicorn Totem.

I will never understand why Druids, the class all about nature, doesn’t have animal companions. So I like this Druidic Circle! My current campaign’s backup character is a Circle of Spores Druid themed around plague doctors. I’ve seen three options for Druids getting homebrewed animal mechanics: either use the Beastmaster Ranger mechanics, allowing a Druid to take Find Familiar, or simply have an animal that’s loyal to you and instead of using Wild Shape on yourself, having the ability to Wild Shape the animal. One person who recommended this suggested at least allowing the Druid to still use cantrips, but no proper spells when the animal companion is Wild Shaped. This is what I’m using for my Druid with her rat. It’s good to see that there’s a Circle I didn’t know about that allows for a Druid to have an animal companion! It seems silly that it’s not just a basic option for all Druids; I wonder if that’s why they added this subclass?

Druid is hands down *the* most overpowered class in the game, and yet very few people seem to realize it

I've never been able to play this subclass... or druid in general. I really want to do that. I like summoning for normal reasons as opposed to the broken stuff I've been finding out about.

Great video thanks man! Recently I had actually made a multiclass PC which was Druid with Circle of the shepherd and Warlock Pact of the Chain. Super pet class mainly. You can summon a flock of familiars and with your druid skills, also summon wildlife or fey to aid you. I felt this class would be quite unique as they could be wielding a lot of utility or CC but also aid others in combat using your familiars to help others (gain advantage, distract foes, poison foes, etc.).

I seriously don't understand what makes your videos so funny. But I crack up two stitches every single time I watch one of your videos. I have been rolling on the floor laughing hysterically before and I don't get it that's never happened to me on KZfaq. Keep at it you're amazing. I'm also a DM so it's incredibly informational.

Yes!! Another who loves druids as much as I! Splendid!! Also, Land and Moon druid roles and lore are explained on their FR page, and Spore druids are pretty easily described in Ravnica. Dreams I tend to associate with the mystical Feywild but with chill, positive vibes that remove stress and treat mental trauma. Sort of mshaman-medic type folk who draw power from the night.

Okay but. Sercet rule. You have to pick over 20 animals/fey for your summons and name each and every last one of them unless it's an upcast and they bring a friend you're only somewhat familiar with. So you don't really talk to them but you appreciate them being there anyway.

My favorite thing about the circle is with faithful summons you basically can make your body explode into bees when you die

The biggest reason I like this subclass is it makes the druid pretty competitive in damage. If you focus on summons you can pump out damage

Funnily enough, sheep are rather smart, as is all pack animals, they form bonds with other members of their herd members, will fight with them to fend off threats, and they grieve when one of them is killed

- Druid is for sure my fav class. I've done Moon and Shepherd, had the most fun with moon, but man it was also insanely fun summoning as a main strategy. Also, that unicorn spirit really made healing OP. I'm running a Fire Druid right now in dungeon of the mad Mage, its also really fun and has been clutch in most sessions as our DM is playing it pretty deadly and prior we had no real healer and were getting more stressed about combat.

I am playing one now and reflavored everything to spectral moths while the summoned beasts/fey are the moths forming that creature, his healing happens to be spectral moths landing on the person, or when he uses healing spirit it’s a swarm of translucent spectral moths.

Another fun part of faithful summons is that it can kick off if youre incapacitated. Say bbeg can grapple and restrain you. Whoops accidental bears.

I lvoe the idea of the shepherd druid mainly because of the reflavorability - For example, you can make a technomaster warforged shepherd druid by reflavoring the conjuration spells as conjuring mechanical dolls. Or you can make a doll master the same way. Or you can reflavor yourself as a formless parasite, reproducing using magic (Chaotic evil... thing). I'm sure there are many other reflavoring ideas you can use, but the first one and the third one are the ones I wanna play.

Someone should let Stibble know that the Unicorn totem only affects *your healing* spells, and that you can't "regain" temporary hit points with the 10th-level feature (owls still only have 1 actual hit point).

I have a 5e Div Wizard 2, Shepherd Druid 10 tiefling in Adventurers League and he has 4 legally non concentration animals by his side. A flyng snake pet called Mata Mata that's been awakened and becomes a find familiar when it dies, an owl familiar called Moe, a figurine of power giant owl called Joe and, thanks to a ring of spell storing, a find steed Elk called Monoko

Great video, i myself im making a setting where i made all the beast being half of a couple of animals, so druids might have crazier options to transform, there is also some beasts with cantrips

As a writer myself I need this book, not just to have several peculiar creatures in my future games. But hopefully to inspire me outside of D&D I have been having difficult time conjuring ideas for a character's familiar and this may just help me out of that issue. I'll happily make a hefty pledge for this book. May go for the elder tier for the unique print.

I know you talked about in your world creation video, but I would really like to hear a lot more about it, and what makes it different from the Forgotten Realms. Does it include any custom races, or spells, what about the gods and monsters, besides that cosmic horror that as you said, burped everything into existence?

I'm playing a lizardfolk circle of the moon druid and i flavored my totems as triceritops, pterodactyl, and parasaurolophus. He summons dinasours and lizards. Overall would recommend class. Also excited for your book.

It better fits the junk in gungeon. If you level the junk knight up to near max, it does the same thing as the pig.

The aspect of the Faithful Summons ability is either falling to 0 HP OR being Incapacitated against your will, which is an aspect of 5 status conditions. So, even if you have full HP, if you are knocked Unconscious by a Sleep spell or Stunned by an enemy Monk's Stunning Strike, your Faithful Summons ability will still activate, and suddenly Bears.

I actually plan on getting the codex for my group, because we love having animal companions in our games. Our hexblade just got a pet mimic because our DM is awesome and let his nat20 on animal handling be cool Also shepherd druids are awesome, my first character was a shepherd druid with the hawk spirit
