This works fine with my pressure washer. I don’t need anywhere near 38 psi to get full volume water flow. Just raise the bucket about 3 feet above the pressure washer and make sure the hose is full of water. It obviously won’t work if you start off with air in your supply line.

I'm curious... what brand and model pressure washer do you have? I need one to clean my apartment patio.

@tamlynn786 if you happen to have a washer In your apartment you can shut off your water supply line (cold water) and undo your washer hose. Then connect a regular garden hose to that for water supply. We used to do this all the time in maintenance to get water supply in apartments. Hope this helps

Guys, I have a ryobi gas powered 3200 psi 2.5 gpm pressure washer. I used the same 5 gallon bucket with a 5 foot long garden hose to a spigot that I attached to the bottom of the bucket after I drilled the bucket. I filled it up with water and elevated the bucket to like 2 to 3 feet. Turned on my pressure washer and lo and behold it works. The water lasts around 2 minutes before I have to fill it up again.

@KelikakuCoutin Жыл бұрын
Makes sense. At 2.5 gpm you'd be consuming 5 gallons in two minutes. Thanks for testing this out and giving us the results. So, I'm getting a smaller unit with a 1.2 gpm output; my 5 gallon bucket should last around four minutes or so?

I have a tank on my truck on which i open the valve and it runs thru a transfer pump then to the pressure washer. Any ideas on how i can skip the pump?
@jelliott750
@jelliott750 2 ай бұрын
This isn't exactly true. Each pressure washer will have the gallons per minute right there on it usually around 2.5GPM give ot take. Find yourself an empty gallon jug and time how long it takes to fill it up. As long as your over the GPM your machine requires you'll be set. I use a 330gal tank reduced to a drinking water hose for an RV I found at Walmart I chose it because it had a wider diameter inside the hose outlet which allowed more water to flow through it and it gave me about 3 gallons per minute at the lowest point of the tote that I go to when using it. Make sure you don't use any valves because a lot of times the diameter of the inside of it won't allow for enough water to flow through.

@KelikakuCoutin
@KelikakuCoutin Жыл бұрын
Yes. I definitely can answer this one. Only pull the trigger when you want water to shoot out of the nozzle of your pressure washer. Also, when you want the washer to stop shooting water out from the nozzle, just simply let go of the trigger. That is my suggestion. Also, use the pressure washer on things that you want to wash with it. Then also, do not use the pressure washer on things that you don't need to and don't want to wash, especially if you don't want to pressure wash something. That's a good tip for everyone. If you don't want to pressure wash something, then don't use the pressure washer on it. Any other questions, just keep asking the great questions there buddy.

I got that directly from the manufacturer, called in and talked with tech support. If you have run yours that way and it works that great but they don't recommend it or suggest it as they did not build it to run that way.

There are pumps out there that are designed to run off of a bucket, just not this one. :-)
@SeanBZA
@SeanBZA 8 жыл бұрын
Running them from a bucket can work provided you get the bucket at least a floor up so there is enough head so the valves in the pressure washer will open as needed. Otherwise you are just going to cavitate the pump and destroy the cylinder. Do that to the common cheap ones for a while and you will go buy a new one. Pump costs more than a new machine at the low end of the market.

Hi, thanx for the info. Can we instead use a pump connected to a water tank as water supply to pressure washer?
@burbbilly
@burbbilly 5 жыл бұрын
Chat you need to have head pressure or pressure at the pump for this type of pressure washer. So as long as you are supplying the water to the pump at pressure then it would work. Been awhile since I did the video but the required pressure is mentioned or you can contact the manf of your washer and ask what is needed. there are some pressure washers out there that can run off of a bucket of water

@@burbbilly thanx very much for the reply. The water comes from a normal rain water tank. There is no pressure from the tank to the pump, which is a self priming jet pump. Thanx a lot for the info, I appreciate it!

@voxorox
@voxorox 7 жыл бұрын
This guy's never siphoned gas from a gas tank with just a rubber hose. The trick is to prime the washer and the hose. Once the flow is going, the pressure out will pull the new water in. Just watch that water level. Any air in the system and the pressure's gone.
@voxorox
@voxorox 7 жыл бұрын
...and if that really bugs you, just get an inline pump. Seriously, $20 will get you a 300 GPH pump, which should keep up with most washers.
@burbbilly
@burbbilly 7 жыл бұрын
You're wrong here, give Homelite a call and ask them if what you are telling people to do will work on their pumps. It won't. As far as putting in an inline pump goes... you can try it, it will need to maintain against a back pressure though so hopefully you thought of that and accounted for it with your $20 pump. Once you get all this up and running I'd love to see your video of it

could you not put a valve at the bottom of the bucket and use gravity. also you can shorten the hose length between the bucket and pressure washer say 3 or 4 feet. As the water drops you can top off when needed

@@onetwothree4148 punch a hole at the bottom of a water filled bucket and compare to drawing water against gravity. you can clearly see a huge advantage over gravity fed water. but would there be big difference in pressure? I am thinking no, but you may have more battery time. the limit is the motor. I am curious if there is NO water spout available what is a better option for feeding water into the "pressure washer"?
@onetwothree4148
@onetwothree4148 3 жыл бұрын
@@cameranmanner4701 the size of the hole and friction (hose length) are irrelevant until you go against gravity, if that's what you're suggesting. To get the recommended pressure the calculation is about 100' of gravity acceleration. Really something closer to 25' could be high enough ty keep your pump from getting damaged if your feed can supply the minimum GPM to keep the pump submerged. Do it out of a bucket chest high and I guarantee you are damaging your pressure washer

Just for public info, most pressure washers can get by with 25 psi and double their max flow rate, however you achieve that, whether it's siphon and gravity, a transfer pump, etc, but the minimum is about 5 gallons per minute and 25 psi. If the flow goes up because of a bigger hose, you could maybe drop to 20 psi, but you would want to be about 7 GPM.

So by that logic, a five gallon bucket will last less than a minute of pressure washing, before having to stop and fill the bucket up again. Have you tested this? It seems like people are getting much more time out of one bucket. בס'ד
