Usually my weekend starts with a long run on a Saturday morning, however this weekend there's been a bit of disruption to the usual schedule, so I decided to head out on Friday evening.
Last week's run was 23.2km, and I had hoped to do 24km, however I wasn't feeling that fresh when I went out.
I kept the pace down and tried to keep in Zone 2, and tried my best to be conscious of my stride to see if it would help my IT band issues.
The IT band-related sore knee kick in at about 21km, which was about 3km further down the road than my last long run, so that's progress.
My current plan is to keep building the distance up to 30km on the long run, which should be within the next 3 or 4 weeks. I will then stick at that distance and keep working on strength and conditioning to work towards being pain free.
