The thing about the 'and more' monster is that, if you start the new game after 2.0 update, that thing has a chance to come into the map before you get the quest to fight it. In this way, it is truly a surprise. Too bad for people who finished all the prior content instantly got the quest to fight it and kinda .... anti-climatic in a way. Still, very happy to meet it.

I do hope they add some type of serious reward for slaying the apexes in their quests as a way of saying "hey here's a reward for slaying the apex monsters"

One thing that 2.0 updated that no one seems to be talking about is being able to search and sort Talismans with ‘Y.’ It works the same as when you were using the equipment box, but now you don’t have to go to that option anymore.

Hearing you guys talk about Chameleos and your talismans kind of reminded me of a game called Loop Hero: in it, there's a boss that can disable one of your equipped items at a time (alongsides one of your stats). What if Chameleos did something like that? He could "steal" a piece of armor, leaving you with weaker skills (though for sanity's sake the armor piece would just be disabled until you got it back). Since Rise doesn't use the 10 point system it wouldn't completely ruin builds, just leave you weaker while you scramble to get your armor back.

I immediately smiled when I saw this. Been finding podcast while grinding some hr.

Regarding stuff like the Chameleos Gunlance, notice that it, along with several of the new weapons this update have a I or II at the end of its name. Every new weapon this update came from a weapon that ended with a I or II. Thus, I believe that the next update will let us upgrade those remaining I or II weapons with materials from whatever monster(s) accompany the supposed "final ending".

Speaking of the "Hunt Royal Ludroth and Jyuratodus" bug the Basarios waist was also mislabeled as "Urokter Coil" and I don't know if they fixed that.

It would be super weird to name the elder dragon weapon weapons “Kushala Blade I” and for them to not get another upgrade. So I fully expect them to get another upgrade level in 3.0. Same with a couple of weapons that don’t have their final form name yet, like Rajang weapons.

i REALLY miss the moments where you're off doing something completely unrelated to a surprise monster, then the monster shows up and scares the shit out of you. For example in MH Tri, when you're on a quest to kill Jaggia. a Deviljho of all things appears and can cart you in like 2 hits and it's insane. moments like that were amazing. They could have done something fun with the new monster they didn't announce. and THEN have a quest to kill it.

I think the thing that makes monsters more fun is that they "turn around" to hit you. In World, monsters could just string attacks and hit blindly at the air, but in Rise, they turn to face you first, then attack, similar to classic monster hunter hunter games, although they are much faster than in older games. In Rise, you can judge how the monster react better because it turns to face you, but executing on your move is harder than World because monsters are just naturally faster. Also, in GU, repeat offender procured after 3 hits and you need to attack continuously within 5 second intervals.

I’ve been listening to the podcast for a month or so & found it a really nice listen whilst at work. But also I’ve picked up loads of tips along the way, haven’t played much since outriders came out but I’m going to hit Rise hard from here on in.

Hey Rurikhan, not sure if you'll see this but the Elder weapons all have roman numerals in their name so if the current pattern I've seen continues then they all upgrade again AT LEAST twice. All weapons with roman numerals hit at least a 2 before having a different finalized name. So I expect Cham's GL to hit lvl. 4 minimum and Kush's stats and sharpness will go up while keeping lvl. 5 (unless they go crazy and make it lvl. 6)

Well for me, I used to be a LS main so i did run out of things to run after, but tbh it just pushed me to try out new things, so i started SwagAxe, Charge Blade, and when i got used to it i started farming and theorycrafting their sets, and then i moved on to Dual Blades ... Im quite happy with the content we get, and in such a short time as well (waiting only a month is quite neat), and as someone whose last MH was Portable 2nd G which i was playing hardcore, Im really enjoying both the activities to do and the game mechanics so far. Im now really hoping to see my boy Ancient Fatalis come back, but i also wish i can see some monsters return from games that i didnt have the opportunity to play such as Gore Magala. Keep up the good work you guys, I need to listen to your podcasts while farming

If I ever join hubs that are lower than hr 6, or I see people in a hub with a lower hr, I always remove the final boss/or rampage boss armor from my dog so that people don't get spoiled by looking at my dumb buddy. I also use the final boss theme as my hub music, but change it when people with hrs that I know haven't encountered that monster yet join my hub. I don't want to accidentally ruin someone else's experience ya know

Btw did they notice that the camelio's long sword does not have its poison.

Correction to cham ramp up skill. It does proc quite fast like 10-20% on hit but it has an internal cooldown of 60 secs or something. So even if you just get the heal which has no effect duration you still can't proc it again until the 60 srcs are over

Cameleos mist reminds me of Domain Expansion from Jujustsu Kaizen, imagine if elder dragons had a domain expansion like technique depending on their element or whatever affinity they have? That would be crazy epic

I've been staying up until nearly 4am playing Stories on my iPad, and playing Rise during my "daytime" awake hours when my eyes burn less. Running on such little sleep here, I feel your pain Rui! I'm my brother's full-time nanny, and I'm balancing his Distance Learning/Hybrid Learning (in-person now) with grinding in both games. Always glad to have streams and podcasts from you to keep me going throughout the day!

I woke up and immediately got spoiled by my friend who pulled an all nighter. I was pretty annoyed by that, but the update is absolutely amazing still. So many new decos, new monsters, new sets. Layered armor! I love that. I haven't been able to hunt all the new monsters because I promised a friend we'd do it together, but I'm already deep in the farm for the coolest layered set combos. Also. GAMMOTH IN STORIES! YES! Btw Ruri, a bit of a headsup. In Stories 1, the blond hunter (Reverto) used Longsword despite LS not being playable. It might be that GL is a helper NPC only weapon. I hope that isn't the case, but I thought I'd mention it. Regarding the NEW symbol on some armors... They seem to respawn for me everytime I close the game. It's not all the sets either, just specific ones. Rakna Kadaki is one of them.

I believe the Cannon damage discrepancy is between the rampage and the Final Arena cannons that get summoned up. Those I'm pretty sure do the 300 damage you mentioned.

Goddamn Magnamelo came in during my second rampage against Apex Rathalos and laid the groundwork to me failing that quest. Was bummed but i still got 3 lazurite jewels and 2 apex flame sac so it was all good.

So I’m not sure if it yet, but I think Chameleos can steal items, but only when you have no spiribird buffs left to steal. Edit: the cannons have not changed, you are thinking of the cannons in (spoilers?) battle.

@Rurikhan you mentioned the chameleos weapons probably not getting an upgrade but you only need to look at the name. It has the number "1" next to the name and final forms of weapons always have (someone correct me if I'm wrong please) unique names. Also the final boss weapons aren't even rarity 7 and that is a bit odd to me.

I hope the Kushala Blessing 3 doesn’t deconfirm my boy Vaal... I really liked the super regen, also...

Ive been preaching about the apex monsters since before the game launched but it was always with the idea that they'd be full fledged monsters with their own armor/weapons. Actually, the discovery/reveal/spoiler of Bazelgeuse in MHRise 2.0 varies in part by your HR -- if you are already HR8 then, yes, Fugen just gives you that quest with Bazel (et al.), but if you aren't (I was still HR6-7), Bazel can show up unannounced during your HR7 hunts (like Rajang in HR6 hunts, except that Bazel is definitely NOT found sleeping).

1:18:00 The interviews specifically said "There is gear that you can only make using drops/rewards from Rampage/Apex Monsters". So this is likely in reference to the Rampage Weapons. But there was zero reference to unique weapons or armour sets, just generic "Rampage Gear" and "Unique Drops".

The Hi Ninja Sword may not have a shield, but a slugger/partbreaker build does allow me to punch monsters in the face to knock them out and break everything on them, and that's pretty fun. Of course that can be done with any sword and shield, but I can live out my Goss Harag cosplay dreams by punching.

I think ruri needs to remember that bloodbath was only available in G rank in GU, there was no high rank version. I also think he’s overhyping how tough the non-EX versions of the deviants were. What made some of those quests so tough were the circumstances of the hunts (1 faint, no items allowed, an additional hyper monster etc). I am loving the Apex fights, the feel of the hunts are certainly doing the deviants justice. Best of all - no lame deviant theme to listen to over and over and over!

Hunts in 4U and GenU (and I believe World/Borne) have specific health values sometimes, most notably Event Quests. It feels like the existing monsters in the 2.0 hunts are buffed and the new elders have average stats, but I’m expecting event quests that have super strong versions of them. If I remember correctly, these events existed in GenU and if you read the description it would say something along the lines of “a *monster name* unlike any other” to hint at the challenge.

I'm glad Gaijin can sympathise with bows being shoehorned into a headpiece for Bow Charge Plus, whilst Blademasters are getting things like Master's Touch as a decoration. It took forever to farm the Decoration for it in World, so I had to wear Legiana (?) set for the longest time waiting for it to drop. It's such an integral skill, I hate that it is only available on garbage armor. It doesn't even come with slots!

I'm actually kinda glad there was some mention of some of the new quests being harder than usual. I was doing the three Utzushi ones earlier and I was just wondering if I was super rusty for not having playing a week and a half before the update hit, but seems they were just harder than usual. The elders on the other hand have been fun, but not super challenging, so I was just confused about that.

Tbh If they made Rampage mode hard it would really annoy most players who play a significant amount if time solo. Imagine doing an actually difficult Rampage Solo where it's just mayhem - it would be a very unlikable game mode. So it seems like it was a good call for Capcom to play it safe with Rampages and just make them an intro for the Apex monsters.

Given the Elder Dragon DBs all have a 1 in Roman numerals next to them, I feel it' a given there'll be more upgrades for existing weapons.

I took the time out to learn the bow and it put me back into the honeymoon phase with the game . I love the bow and with it I got my best speedrun time on zinogre 2:49 .

Very late to this but i think all the big grinds will come from 3.0. Finishing the final boss will unlock the "apex gear" as we will start unlock the rampages that will give us new tickets for new things, it would make sense that there would be a level up system like deviants just without the level 1-10 grind for everything. i think the reason we didnt get secondary armours in rise is because the variation sets will come from rampages. We wont get them for all monsters so theres lots of room to shake up the game!

Magnamalo and Nathan are definitely tuned up in that quest. My whole team got wiped in one attack by magna

I want to have another intro like the one that Village Seregios has in MH4U. You get a quest to capture a rathian, and it seems fine thoughout the entire quest, you hunt her until she leaves and goes to sleep. Another Quest done! Until you go to place a trap and complete the quest, and a monster you have never seen before grabs the sleeping rathian and takes it for its self, and you fail the quest. I was so pissed about him stealing my capture, so learning that he was my new mission was so much fun. One of my favorite MH moments till this day
