Im glad that Monster hunter stories 2 is getting the spotlight for now, it really deserves all the attention on it, rise had its spotlight, its time for stories to be the center of attention because it worked very hard to get at the point it is now and the fans of stories 1 really deserves this too. Also we only saw the roadmap for rise up until august, we still havent seen what we have in store for rise in september, october, november, and december, theres also the fact we havent seen what the cross over content for july and august actually is, it could be something pretty enjoyable.

Love the podcast guys. I've made a habit of doing many hour long bike rides on the weekends and the nice long format makes for a good chunk of listening time. At Gaijin - Regarding Animal Crossing, you can back up your save file if you enable it via the start up's secret menu. I have it linked all the time as a back up. Lets you transfer your island over from the last save file to a new Switch if something happens.

For IVs In stories 2, there is the rainbow shine on eggs, when the eggs hatch, the monstie does get stat boosts. Also show heavy the egg is and how stinky they are. So I guess theres that. But they aren’t hidden so that’s good.

Well it was at this point 1:12:38 that I was finally decided on I’ll be playing stories. Got the demo last night and my ability to get distracted kicked in immediately. It’s honestly more fun than I thought it was going to be for me so I’m pretty happy lol. Once I can I’ll go ahead and buy the full version can’t wait to get to hang out with a qurupeco nothing else matters at that point

Player count on PC peaked at 34k and seem to maintain around 15 to 20k. I think a pc community will cement itself with time especially with capcoms content patches. PC gamers like long term games like this and with all the positive feedback the game is bound to have gotten traction in the wider community

That's me and Rise atm. It's my comfort game where i just zone out with friends or my daughter. Both of us are looking forward to picking up stories 2 today! Edit: also you only needed 3 genes of an element to change on a monster. It was something you could do early game in stories 1 as I did that from the get go for a water type azurous who was fully blue and I was nowhere near the hunter's city when I did it. In stories 2 demo you can get an aptanoth with 3 dragon genes which turns red once they're unlocked.

The simplest way to use rites is to use duplicate monsties to rank up their default genes. You can use regular eggs for this so dont skip those.

Rise can be Gayjin's favorite MonHun and it's very understandable since he's playing in with her daughter. But I got 200 hours out of Rise where as I spent months playing base World and GenU. I still think fighting in Rise is the most fun but it's less content then GenU and had me much less immersed than World.

I didn’t get the demo because I wanted to learn the game in the full thing. I’m probably not going to sleep for the next week so I can play.

The LAN port on the OLED Switch came way too late. I bought a USB adaptor for that exact reason, and I don't want to have to buy a slightly better version of the console, so really it does nothing for me.

But Rurikhan you can make the Pokemon you get at the start as good as a high end one. Sword and Shield changed all that however it's also a lot more grindy and less fun to do so in comparison to Stories 2. As for element changing existing in Stories 2. It exists except not really. When a monster levels enough it reverts and the devs said they removed it in that interview at the end of the title update stream they did.

I think I hit 15 hours on the Demo, the grind to get the perfect monstie is so addicting and with the right of channeling in the full game plus all the extra monsters I can really see myself losing myself in it.

I play on 2 or 3x speed on Stories 1 and did on demo as well. If 1x makes it seem smoother though I may keep it there. It can feel like the fight takes a while if not speeding up, especially during grinding. In pokemon I'd always disable animations after the first 30 minutes or so

They don't hide IV anymore Rurikhan in Pokemon. You can even boost the IV unlike before...

pokemon sword/shield made breeding almost unnecessary. post game you can just use bottlecaps to raise you're pokemon's ivs. you can use nature mints to change your pokemon's nature. you can use ability capsules and ability patches to change the pokemon's ability. You only need to breed if you need a specific speed stat or egg move.

Gaijin finally namedropping Dragon Quest Monsters! YES! Dragon Quest Monsters is a much more apt comparison than Pokemon for breeding and gene systems, because those games actually focus their gameplay around that stuff (whereas Pokemon makes it a competitive-only thing). Dragon Quest Monsters also allows you to make any monster endgame viable, like Stories, whereas Pokemon limits its monsters by very set in stone stat caps. It's so much more fun for me than Pokemon at this point.

rage gaming did a video on the element swap and it's weird. TLDR is they have numbered stats 4 all elements and they use the highest 1 so u have 2 use element attack genes but those only go so far and the more they level the more their base element numbers go up so eventually changing it is impossible

Bought the Xenoblade 2, Smash Ultimate, and Rise Pro Controllers Day 1. None of them have had a single issue. I play with them both on Switch and PC, keep them charged, let friends/siblings use them when over, then return them to their shelf. Not a single issue. No dissconects. No sticky buttons. No drift. But I got looooots of drift in my Joycons. Man I bought the Pro Controllers because they were sturdier and more reliable than Joycons. So the constant issues that Ruri and Gaijin have seem so out-of-place.

A dock Pro is unrealistic and honestly, a horrible idea. The switch is already having troubles running some games like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and Disgaea 6, if we were to have a dock that upscales resolution the performance would still be awfull, I'd rather have performance over graphics. Only my opinion tho.

I don't know exactly where to voice this criticism(?) on Stories 2 combat [from all gameplay that I've seen] but the double attacks kinda bother me because they make the battle seem less eventful, since double attacks are always the same animation, you don't see your monstie's attack animations, and because double attacks stop the enemy from attacking as well, the monsters can be somewhat stunlocked, which while is an available strategy to you, seeing the enemy just basically stand there and not attack you while taking hits for a good portion of the fight seems really idk, not fun to me personally, this is more of a meta thing, because double attacks seem to be the optimal strategy, but the fact that the best option is the least visually entertaining or engaging seems off to me, I don't know if I'm on the minority on this aspect. Regardless, fun podcast!!

Switch oled is a hard pass for me since I only play in docked mode with a pro controller cos I can't use the joy cons...they're too small for me and make my fingers hurt after just a few short minutes :(

I’m not too hung up on this and I could be wrong since I haven’t played it myself or watched all the videos released about MHST 2 so far, but it seems to me from Rurikhan’s responses that the game may be more of a “solid / good game” rather than an “amazing / one-of-a-kind experience” like how I would the consider the mainline mh games as.

I've seen that canceling pre-orders happen with best buy alot specifically. So far I haven't seen it happen with gamestop, then again I don't pre-order much to begin with. I mean outside of stories 2, the only other thing I have pre-ordered is metroid dread and the amiibo.
