This is currently one of my most favourite pastimes: watching an obviously knowledgeable and talented player and lover of music react with great appreciation to the music I have enjoyed for 42 years and counting. Thanks very much for taking this journey with us, CB. PS - The reggae riffs found in Rush's early '80's albums were very much inspired by the work of the Police from the same period - so if you don't know the Police, they should be added to your future reactions list.

As a drummer introduced to "prog" rock when my years of existence was still in single diget years I was drawn to Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd ,music my brother ( 10 yrs my senior) listen to plus he had a drumset setup in the formal room of the house where was not intended for children he and I were allowed permission to enter for access to the kit.I influenced my said brother also played the kit, young enough to still possess a sponge like brain I absorbed all of this with J. Bonham teaching me how to "talk" after disruptions in that paradigm I discovered Rush and Neil Peart and like Rosetta Stone I learned a new way to talk.Lovung your insight into what I consider the 4 Cs' of any art medium The creativity of composition and the clarity of complication.

Alex in song solos are so unique and creative. I don't know how to describe it, most guitarist try to make their solos sound sweet and pretty to the ear, with Alex his solos are very unexpected, has tension but still melodic to the ear. I was hoping you did the studio version of this song. I find the audio mix of this video to be a bit muddy. In the studio recording, you hear every detail of Geddy's melodic bass line and Neil's finesse on the hi-hat and drums. However, the video version the ending of the song is extended. More Rush is always a good thing😂🤣😂

Speaking of muscle cars, when this song was only two years old, I regularly played it loudly as my friends and I cruised up and down the main drag in our suburban city an hour's drive west of Toronto. We did it in my very first car - a midnight blue '75 Camaro with a transplanted 350cc Chevy truck engine that sported a Holley Carb, 4-bolt main, headers, shift kit, and Cragar SST dish mags. All of which is to safe that I can appreciate your choice of analogy!

Take it to church - Great reaction! RUSH live usually sounds like the studio version. But in this case, they are very different. On the album track, Neil's drum fills are crazy (never the same twice), the tempo is faster and the mix is different. The bass got washed out on this recording. As many have suggested, you may want to go back and listen to the studio version. (I can't believe I'm saying this...90% of the time the live version is the go-to. Thank you for playing my recommendation, Church Boy 💕 I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

Great reaction Church Boy!! Every time I see a new Rush reaction from you, I note the song, and every time I say "he's going to LOVE the bass lines in this!!" THAT is what you get with Rush - amazing, groovy bass, atmospheric guitars, with a shred wherever needed (honestly, Alex Lifeson is the KING of atmosphere to me! Always plays exactly what the song needs!), and killer drumming from Neil (RIP) - not always crazy, but with tasteful fills & complexity - again, always in service of the song! You're truly beginning to see - 3 monumental, expert level musicians, in one band, together for 40 years, making some of the greatest progressive/hard/synth rock we've ever known! Three humble dudes from Canada, eh! Cheers!

That's a tough one for me, especially this late in their career. It is my least favourite song on Signals. Rush's "ok" songs are still better than most's band's top songs but very occasionally a song doesn't reach greatness status. That's sadly one of them for me. Still good but it is not in the regular rotation. For favourite bass line I would go to so many other songs like Show don't tell, Circumstances,, Big money, Marathon, Red lenses, Analog Kid, Ceiling unlimited, most of Moving pictures and soooo many others. He's just awesome all the time. Never a bad note !!!
