Well said I'm not even in the double digits when it came to Rush concerts but seeing and hearing the great drummer Neil was an honor in itself. My thinking during their early work was no one can ever come to achieve what he's done as far as Rush songs go. But I've been wrong before. She's excellent.

Ged said that even Neil's lyrics are so complicated it was hard to put them to melody. Thank the music gods he made it work.

I been to 55 rush concert , my last one Alex lifeson reconized me from all the other front row concerts i attended and walk up to me and i ask him to play mystic rythm and geddy wasnt to happy but the crowd went crazy in west palm beach geddy is ok but alex is very humble gentle guy with a big heart

@@pbutter237 1985-2016 i had VIP meet and greet several times and i spent nearly 50 thousand on front row rush tickets geddy is not that friendly to his fans, he is a nice guy but not that friendly alex and neil are awesome they go right up to the fans and will say hi alex is the friendliest out of all of them ,he is truley a great person

@@pbutter237 you don't realize i followed rush from Canada tour thought united states and my ticket broker was instructed to purchase only front row tickets...i had several meet and greet with geddy lee and lifeson and pert.....the west palm beach concert lifeson jammmed out to mystic rhythm and geddy was thrown off KEY ---BY LIFESON PLAYING MYSTIC RHYTHM

I will try not to be a keyboard critic as I have never drummed before. However, I am a super loyal RUSH fan and of our late and beloved Neil Peart. Yes, she did an excellent job in recreating the odd rhythms and unique metronome like mental tempo that Neil had. However, this was accomplished at great level of stress and excessive activity on such a small drum set in order to recreate Neil's percussion performance. When you close your eyes and listen to her performance, yes, it does sound good, but when you open your eyes, she's like she's excessively overworking herself and struggling to knock out the beats. She was very stiff and too sharp with her beats. In Neil's later years, he said that when he was studying from his mentor, who told him that every beat was a circle and it has to rotate the stick towards him, strike the drum and complete the circle in midair, the drummer. She has to let it flow and let it just take her through the song. Suburbs is one of Neil's less busy songs but nonetheless, it is complex when you have your earphones on and eyes closed listening to what is being brought to your ears. I am not criticizing her performance. I am merely repeating the words of Neil Peart in his interview. Go look it up in KZfaq.

Tell me somebody that was better on the drums than him. He was one of the most technically proficient drummers that ever played. His influences included Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. None better

Exactly. I've been drumming since 13, got my first drum when I was 3 and never really even attempted to learn a Rush song correctly. I think I learned Lime Light a hundred years ago but Peart's drumming was too different and too difficult to remember the parts to do it justice. She's amazing.

She's offbeat. She needs a metronome. Song is 120 bpm she's playing 118... And trying too hard.

Most likely true. I don’t see the point of disliking this. It certainly does not honor Neil Peart to dislike this. Sometimes people just need to be mean. They think it hides their own inadequacy.

Please. Neil’s body of work is great, legendary, as far as drumming goes but this attitude like he’s untouchable is baffling to me.

I've had fun playing Neil's stuff over the last 30 years. We all try to replicate his work but I think all he would insist on is that we always seek continuous improvement but mostly have fun doing it. That's always been enough for me and I've had no toys and all the toys a drum kit could have. Just have fun.

Yes. Neil's part came from a classic Steve Gadd groove. She is adding extra rights on the HH.. Overall a very clean and well executed cover 👏👏👏

When I learned it it was easier to to the extra notes on the hi hat before I just did 8th notes

Agreed. The right hand can stay on the ride (alternating between the bell and the rest of the ride) when not hitting the snare. Great job overall though. The tom fills especially.

Well yes, astrotama has been a beast for some time now. And then there is tyler warren.....if you have seen. Tyler warren plays ALL INSTRUMENTS. ALL of PErmanent Waves and more. Vocals are incre-d_ible. It’s all so great. I couldn’t believe it when I first saw. Makes me want to go watch it again now

@northlander just saying, Geddy and Alex are still playing music whether it be on recordings or live. I'm aware of Neil's tendinitis issues and realize it has to be difficult to do what he does for 2 hour or longer sets. I wasn't aware that they actually "retired". I also realize they will never play as Rush without Neil but what's to stop them from playing together with another drummer?

Dave Boyer not that hard, Natural Science, Jacobs Ladder, Circumstances, and The Trees just to name a few are a lot harder
