It’s interesting bc he’s also wearing a brace on his elbow. So that was bothering him here. That’s the reason he had to stop drumming. What sad for me is right after he stopped and he could finally spend time with his new family he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

@@PUBHEAD1 the coated heads are not snappy, that's part of the problem for me. Way too warm. I prefer his drum sound from the 1978-1981 era over all others. Clear heads, super aggressive attack that cut right through (ESL is a good example). I did not like the dw sound for him, especially with the coated ambassadors. On a different topic, it's so awesome to see him playing so relaxed here and with traditional grip.

The 2nd set opener. We were all so blown away by 2112 closing the first set (which felt like a whole show in itself) that we couldn't believe there was a 2nd set. This was the first tour they ever did the "An Evening With Rush" so it was new to us to get more Rush for the money. This is still the only tour that Test For Echo the song was played.

A wonderful time when Rush was breaking out their music, that inspired me. Amazed and comforted by.... Alex Lifeson, what a amazing guitarist! In his own right he lead a new path to progressive Rock, 2112 says it all! The power of Rock, is Rush ! As like you, what a time to live!!! We lost Neil, The memory's of who he is, remains... that's for sure. I've been so blessed by Rush's music, their music helped me deal with life, to relax, take it easy, and think out side the box! Thank you Alex for being there, when I needed a voice, your playing inspired me, and speaks from to my heart!! Thank you!!

I totally agree...I think it's because they weren't very popular with the younger crowds in 96/97, therefore being considered classic rock at that point but they were on the top of their game musically on that album. I'm not sure how heavily MTV put the videos they did for Test for Echo into rotation either...That would've helped promote the album more as well.

Every time I see clips from this show I know how happy they are and what terrible events will follow. One of the last concerts before tragedy struck. A few weeks later Neil's daughter died in a car crash and 10 months after his wife died of cancer. And Rush was almost gone for good. It took over four years for Neil to recover and get behind the drums again, to give us more music and joy. And now he is gone too and it seems they will never play again.

Thomas Seixas I’ve read that he has a deformed nail on that hand that he’ll use in both directions. That being said, you can do it without one - just keep trying it and make sure you’ve got a good rhythm and eventually your callouses will adapt. Jerry Peek is one bassist I know of that uses one finger in both directions.

Seriously, who was Neil? Was he the drummer he became? The icon, the legend...a true living legend until '20. I've read all of his books, I've seen all of his videos, I've seen dozens of live concerts. Which one was he? I know he was an icon, and a bird watcher. I know he was rock star, and the husband/father of the great people in his most personal life. Drummer, author, artist, cyclist, traveler, explorer, lyricist, dreamer, motor sports enthusiast, husband, father.........I truly believe he became the person outside of the "greatest drummer of all time." IDK, I'm becoming sentimental these days. I SOOO appreciate who he was outside of the fish-eye lense, the gilded cage. I believe he was the person outside of the Limelight.
