Three men in their late sixties running rings around guys in their twenties. There'll never be another band like Rush. I'm so glad I got to see them live so often. And I miss them so much...

This was such a unique concept for this tour. They started the show with the last single they ever released and went back in time to the first song that introduced Rush to the world. It was brilliant.

Good stuff right there. Watched Queen Rocks Montreal on Disney+ and never a huge fan but total respect for them too as musicians, song writers, performers etc. Most importantly they were all friends till the end and kept Freddie’s illness to themselves despite the media and tabloids suspicions about him. Made me think of Alex and Geddy and the whole Rush organization respecting Neil’s wishes as he battled with and eventually succumbed to cancer. Both rare and genuine attributes of really great people who have respect for each other.🤘🖖✌️🎸🥁🎹🎤🥇🇨🇦🎼

That was great! I am also reading Geddy's book. Not quite at the end yet. It is a great read. He was very honest in talking about the ups and downs that happened with the band and how it effected his home life. How many bands have even lasted 40 years and then retire as friends? Quite amazing.

I listened to it instead. Easier for me to consume words. Thankfully, Geddy read it himself.

Alex used two rigs here, one clean, and one with effects. Both perfectly miced and balanced in the mix.

Same description of that Alex & Neil story can, indeed, be found in Neil's book. Apparently, Neil cursed a blue streak then and after returning to his hotel room, because he knew he owed it to Alex to give him one more tour. As things turned out, Alex's severe arthritis abated, so they were able to do one more tour after that.

PS - likely more of a good hearted "fuck, fuck, fuck!!!" than a serious string of nasty fucks...

Neil was always rational to a fault and was a good counterbalance to the bohemian Geddy and Alex. I think he didn't want the band to be like so many other legacy bands and continue touring well beyond their shelf life and become mere vestiges of their former greatness. You could already see it creeping in on their last tour (including this very video), but they were able to power through it. Could they have continued for another 3 to 5 years at an acceptably high level that wasn't cringe-indicing? Probably. But if you saw Geddy and Alex at the Taylor Hawkins tribute, they were just barely hanging on. And you'd have to factor Neil's illness into it. Would he have soldiered on while sick? There's no way that wouldn't affect his performance, and he wouldn't give people any less than his best, so they likely would have had to abruptly end things anyway (in 2016) and it would have been less than ideal. It's better to leave the party voluntarily than to be shown the door. Probably the worst example of a band refusing to take the hint just to make one final cash grab and embarrassing themselves is Kiss. Rush would never have gotten that bad, but I think their fans might have lost a little respect for them if they hadn't bowed out still near the top the way they did. I'm very satisfied with the way the band ended and can wear my Rush fandom with great pride. And I hope all this talk about Geddy and Alex reuniting with a new drummer is just idle conjecture. From what I've read, it's not going to happen.

The following 3 links have always amazed me, the first two involving Neil, the third involving RUSH. "Growth Rings: A Short film narrated by Neil Peart" - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l9t-oqhh2p_RoYE.html ''Masters Of Resonance with Rush Drummer: Neil Peart''. Neil gets involved at 45:35 - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/neCkYLOSt5a8has.html ''Rush induction announcement'' (just the announcement but with a twist) - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f7Fml7Zims7VYmg.html
