Rush - Working Man 1979

12 жыл бұрынThis is from my Black Forest CD from May 28, 1979. Several of the other songs from this show have already been uploaded by someone else but not all of them. This is really just a test, I'm going to be trying to find out what high quality bootleg stuff is posted and what's not and then try to fill in the gaps. This sounds abbreviated because it's part of a medley. I'll likely take it down soon, put the whole medley into one file and redo it. Like I said, I'm just testing some things. As far as the song goes for those who have never heard this version, it's got a neat surfer intro and I think sounds great overall but Alex does come in late for the second solo. I'm going to be putting up whatever remaining video I have soon, too. Do you guys want more of these high quality audio bootlegs or is it a waste of time?

Man, I love that intro! I love how the guitar transforms from surf rock into RUSH!!!

@brengf Ok, thanks for the comment. I guess it seems stupid to have asked if anyone wants any more since my whole channel is rare Rush stuff but in the case of my videos about 95% of that is stuff I couldn't find anywhere else on the internet and certainly not on youtube. But with soundboard bootlegs I guess I thought that pretty much anyone who would want to hear these would already have them. If that's not the case then I'll keep adding. I may take some of these down and redo them though.

@fietsvriend By the way, I intend to take this clip down over the weekend and replace it with the full medley and eventually the whole show. I just uploaded this short clip for now to figure out how to do it since uploading audio is different than video. So it'll still be on my channel but in a different form soon. I'll try to find out if there's anything more to this intro but they tend to do random things like this on many old bootlegs so I think they're just being silly. Thanks again!

@marvincandle815 Ok, now that I'm home I'll give it a good listen in a bit. I'm going to remove this clip soon anyway and string together the whole medley as one file and redo it. I copied this straight from my CD so if simply doing it over doesn't help then there's probably nothing I can do. Sorry about that.

@fietsvriend No, Rush never played at Rockpalast and it's too bad. Lots of great bands were filmed there over the years. As far as this intro my guess is that it's just them goofing around with a more generic surfer-rock kind of thing as a joke but I certainly don't know that for sure. Geddy says "you might recognize this from your parents' record collection" and then says it was "written by..." and I can't understand it but I think it's a joke like the oldies intro to Jacob's Ladder on ESL.

@xxxx15us Oh thanks,I'll like to check if this concert was the one I've seen that time on television,it was in the middle of the night,not a live show and not Rockpalast but it was definitely from Germany

Was the first minute from Mink Deville?Spanish Stroll? I remember this from television,did Rush ever play in the Rockpalast show in Essen Germany?I saw it live on Dutch television every weekend.Thanks for uploading this,everything from Rush is welcome at You Tube!

@fietsvriend Well, I have to say I'm very intrigued. There was the Pinkpop Festival in 1979 in Holland that there's still a bit of footage from but you're probably already aware of that so I have no idea. If you discover what it was please let me know but there just aren't many options for it since they certainly didn't film themselves until 1981 so it would have to be either a venue filmed show, a TV show, or some sort of festival filmed by a third party. I just don't know what it could be.

@fietsvriend Hmmm. Well the only one that's been filmed in Germany is the 30th anniversary tour from Frankfurt, Germany but that was in 2004. It's been on TV, though. Is that what you're thinking of? They did play Working Man at that show as well.

Oh no it was 1979 or before '79 they all had long hair and played only looooonngglasting songs and it was a show like Rockpalast,it must have been another gig.It's a shame they never played on RP in the Krugerhalle in those years.Mink Deville did,and he was whistled away (that was a shame too haha)

@marvincandle815 Just to help me identify what you're talking about, is it something throughout from beginning to end or something just at specific times? I can't listen to it very loud right now so I'm not sure what you're referring to. Thanks!

@marvincandle815 Hmmm. I think I know what you're hearing now. Kind of a "psshhh" sound. I thought at the beginning that was just the high hat but again, I can't listen to it very loud where I am right now. I have the whole on CD so I'll play it when I get home on my stereo and see if it's still there or if something happened when I copied and uploaded it.
