Russell Westbrook recorded his 12th triple-double of the season (24 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high 24 assists). The 24 assists ties the most in a triple-double in NBA history, also done by Isiah Thomas on Feb. 7, 1985 at Washington and Rajon Rondo on Oct. 29, 2010 vs. New York.

Except Stockton and Magic's teams were often leading the league in team assists, while Westbrook's ball hogging style of play, has led to him being basically the only one on the team having the opportunity to make plays to get assists, leading to the Thunder being 20th or worse in team assists for 9 out of the 11 seasons Westbrook has played with them. They're 24th this year, and were 28th last year. They've also been dead last in the league in passes per game as a team in 3 of the past 4 seasons (2nd to last last year). Other point guards who often led the team in assists, such as Jason Kidd and Steve Nash, also had the teams they were on leading the league in team assists. Steve Nash often led the league in assists, and the Suns were top 5 in team assists for 7 out of his 8 seasons there from 2004-2012, including #1 for 3 years in a row. The one year they weren't top 5, they were 6th in the league. Similar for John Stockton. Jason Kidd also led the league in assists several years with Phoenix, and that team was often top 5 in team assists, and sometimes #1. When Kidd went to the Nets, they became top 5 in assists right away. The year before Kidd got there, those Nets had ball hogging Stephon Marbury as their point guard and were 26th in team assists. Marbury replaced Kidd in Phoenix and Phoenix immediately fell to 11th in assists his 1st season there, 17th in the league in his 2nd season, and 24th in the league in his 3rd season. Why do you think Westbrook and Harden, 2 of the biggest ball hogs in the history of the NBA, get tons of assists but both their teams are near the bottom of the league in assists? Speaking of Harden, you know I mentioned how Thunder are last in the league in passes per game? Guess who's 2nd to last? Yep, the Rockets with ball hogger James Harden. You know how I said the Thunder were 2nd to last in the league last year? Guess who was 1st? Yep, the Rockets with ball hogger James Harden.

@back2back379
@back2back379 5 жыл бұрын
@@bryan_350_5 sorry, but that's grossly out of context. Most PGs have the ball in their hand in order to initiate the offense. Westbrook has the ball in his hands in order to initiate the offense (usually initiates pretty late) and the initiation is usually one pass after a drive from him plus shot. Often if his teammate doesn't shoot, he gets upset cause then he doesn't get credit for the assist. Thunder as a team had 33 assists, Spurs had 38 assists. Spurs system of more sharing of the basketball amongst players so more players have the opportunity to make plays produces more assists as a team than Westbrook's ball hogging system of just producing assists for himself. Westbrook leads the league in assists/game, but the team ranks 25th in the league in assists/game. He also led the league last year, and the team finished 28th in the league in assists/game. He should share the ball more and allow others to make plays as well and get more assists as a team instead of stat padding himself and ending up with less assists as a team. There's a reason his team has been 20th or worse in the league in assists for 9 out of his 11 seasons with them.
@back2back379
@back2back379 5 жыл бұрын
@@bryan_350_5 Think of Steph Curry, how quickly he initiates the offense, and then how many passes are made after he initiates by passing to a teammate. That's why the Warriors as a team not only leads the league in assists/game, they're also near the top in passes per game. Guess which team is at the bottom? Yep, the OKC Thunder make the least passes per game as a team, due to Westbrook's ball hogging and not allowing other teammates to make passes and plays.
@bryan_350_5
@bryan_350_5 5 жыл бұрын
ibr bak if you look at the Thunder games you would see he defers to Schroder and George, and there are times when they have multiple passes in a row that end in a bucket, sometimes it doesnt, so if westbrook passes once and its a good look make or miss its a good look. I get what your saying and id agree if he only passed once very late in the shot clock and kicked to a guy on the wing for a heavily contested 3. He doesnt do tht, make or miss, why should it matter how many passes occur if an open shot is created?
@back2back379
@back2back379 5 жыл бұрын
@@bryan_350_5 it matters because there's no movement from the team. How a shot is created matters because you can wear the opposing team down with that, mentally and physically, not to mention the flow and rhythm it gives to an offense with ball movement and movement from the players.. Mentally because things become far less predictable and you have to be adjusting way more defensively. Physically, I don't even have to explain. At the highest levels of basketball, your offense has to be far less predictable with far more ball movement, especially if you want to win the championship. Offense at the highest level of basketball (it's the NBA bro) requires more than just "open" shots, it requires a high level offense with good flow and rhythm. Why do you think both Paul George and Schroder are at mediocre 3P% by their standards and the Thunder as a team is ranked dead last in 3P% if they're getting so many "open" shots? Not to mention Alex Abrines and Patrick Patterson's 3P% being way down. Cause there's no flow in the offense. This is not AAU basketball, it's not just about getting "open" shots in an offense with no flow, rhythm, or movement because of their ball hogging stat padding point guard. Don't get it twisted, the OKC Thunder offense is mediocre at best and has little flow or rhythm to it with their ball hogging point guard resulting in lack of passing and getting assists as a team. They're doing well this season because they have the #1 ranked defense in the league.

Except Stockton's teams often led the league in team assists per game, and were almost always in the top 10. The Thunder have been 20th or worse in team assists in 9 out of the 11 seasons Westbrook has been with them. There's a reason Thunder are always on the bottom side of the league in team assists and last in the league in passes/game in 3 out of the last 4 years (2nd last year behind ball hogging James Harden's Rockets). Why do you think James Harden and Westbrook get the most assists individually but their teams have been bottom of the league in both assists and passes per game? A non ball hogging point guard who gets high assists numbers, like Steve Nash, John Stockton, Jason Kidd, will initiate the offense and get everybody involved, allowing everyone to make passes and plays, having everyone move around, setting off ball screens, making secondary assists, etc. Not just playing isolation/drive and kick or pick and rolls with everyone else standing around all the time while you are the only guy being allowed to make a play with the ball in order to get an assist since you have the ball in your hands all the time. That's why those point guards have had their teams often leading the league in team assists in addition to those players leading the league in assists as individuals. Point guards who often led the team in assists, such as Jason Kidd and Steve Nash, also had the teams they were on leading the league in team assists. Steve Nash often led the league in assists, and the Suns were top 5 in team assists for 7 out of his 8 seasons there from 2004-2012, including #1 for 3 years in a row. Marbury replaced Kidd in Phoenix and Phoenix immediately fell to 11th in assists his 1st season there, 17th in the league in his 2nd season, and 24th in the league in his 3rd season. Oh and btw, Thunder in this game had 33 assists, Spurs had 38 assists. Spurs played team basketball, with players not just getting assists but secondary assists, leading to more assists for the team overall. Westbrook is a stat padding ball hog, and yes, you can be a stat padder trying to get high assists. He's a ball hogger like Marbury, but just better and even more of a ball hog.

bake once again you are judging one player based off the inability for the rest of the team to get assits. Westbrook often defers the ball to Paul George to do what he wants. Still Paul George is scoring and not putting up a large assist count. With 15 seconds left on the clock when other teammates get the ball on Okc...they still have enough time to make plays yet they have proved just how incapable of playmaking they are.

Great performance, but it's concerning that after all these years Russ still doesn't know his ideal play style for optimal team success. This is it Russ. Control the tempo, shoot less, and pass more. OKC will be even better if he handles the ball less and learns to play off the ball.

Yeah sure he got a lot of assists, but his defence late game wasn't that good at all. He shot them out of the game which is sad to see because he is giving 110% all the time (on offence at least). If pg, grant and Ferguson got more touches near the end the game may have turned out different.

Funny thing is that this is not good really, cause it means that ball is not moving and only one guy plays hero ball on scoring and trying to assist as much as he can. Still big performance, but i am confused is it good for a teamplay? Warriors and Spurs ball movement is examlle of success. By the way they lost a match

@@karkarrot5786 It is talent proven yes, agree, but this style of play is old, imho. Moving the ball is new dominant style. Let's see if anyone beats GSW in finals with that system in best of 7 it's hard to do. Popovich mastered it with Spurs (remember what they done to Miami so called big 3, they actually should have won both finals against Miami) and Kerr is continuing doing it perfectly. are you guys saying assists mean you're not a ball hog and you're not stat padding? Then I guess since the Thunder have been 20th or worse in team assists in 9 out of the 11 seasons Westbrook has been with them, and he's always got the highest amount of assists, he's the one not being a ball hog while his teammates are being ball hogs since they're not getting assists? Please, get past looking at the game just on the surface level and coming to conclusions like "He had 24 assists so how can he be a ball hog??" There's a reason Thunder are always on the bottom side of the league in team assists and last in the league in passes/game in 3 out of the last 4 years (2nd last year behind ball hogging James Harden's Rockets).

First, it is impossible that anything you can touch, taste, hear, see or smell on the face of the earth, be it lighting, tornados, rocks, life, minerals from salt to plutonium or anything that can be seen with the most powerful telescope we have in orbit and beyond what we can see, that could possibly exist without having been created. Because of this, we can be sure that everything that is had to be made where there was absolutely nothing to make it out of. Romans 1:20 New International Version For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. So you see, there is a God. I myself have studied world religions in depth in college and much more so on my own time. I have found that the only religion that holds water is Christianity. I am no affiliate of any Christian denomination as they are called because the enemy has a very well received counterfeit in place in nearly all of them, and the condition is terminal. I am Messianic, where I find Truth to be most rightly applied and followed. The bill of rights we share is such a blessing. But I will quote TobyMcKeehan with Times are changing/With morals in decay/Human rights have made the wrong okay. As a call for mercy I bring this case to your attention, the case of Darlie Routier, on death row in Texas, having been convicted of the murder of her son with murder of her other child set aside for prosecution in the event the 1st murder is overturned. God brought this case to my attention and I looked deeper into it. She was convicted mainly because of a video of her, at her sisters suggestion, having put balloons all over the boys grave (they were buried together) and spraying silly string over the balloons. During the trial, the prosecution would play the video to the jury countless times. The version they played was heavily edited, showing only the portion in which Darlie and Dana were spraying the Silly String at the grave site. It was Davis’ intention for the jury to believe Darlie was a remorseless, uncaring mother whose actions were that of a guilty person. The jury was blissfully unaware of the somber mood earlier in the day during the prayer service. Curiously, Dana was never called to testify as to the days’ events, nor the lead up to it. darliefacts.com/the-prosecution/ In no available transcript did I see any mentioning of the 7 stages of grief, the first being denial. www.recover-from-grief.com/7-stages-of-grief.html Here is the grief model we call the 7 Stages of Grief:SHOCK & DENIAL-You will probably react to learning of the loss with numbed disbelief. You may deny the reality of the loss at some level, in order to avoid the pain. Shock provides emotional protection from being overwhelmed all at once. This may last for weeks. Also, prosecution made a big case of there being jewelry of high value laying in plain sight in the kitchen. They contend that if the house had been broken into, they would have taken it. My contention is that whoever broke into the house broke in to steal, was probably high and had no plans to kill anyone. That changed everything, so now the perpetrator is thinking only of how to get away, having no notice and/or concern for valuables. It is also seen in pictures of her in the hospital that she had severe bruising on the insides of her arms, indicating a fierce struggle. Her throat had been cut with the knife going all the way town to the to the top of her left breast. I see nothing revealing a self inflicted injury. I do not believe that neck wound would have been placed there as a decoy- that was meant to kill her, plain and simple. By some miracle it was 1-2 mm too shallow. It was a gold chain she was wearing that stopped the knife from killing her. I strongly recommend taking this case before psychologists in a totally neutral way, not pro or con of her guilt and no thought to the possibility thereof, perhaps even dr. Phil might take a special interest. I was at the top of my class in psychology on college. She was a very well to do woman in a very sheltered environment with no traumatic history. The out of no where she wakes to find an intruder in the house, her throat cut and her kids stabbed and dying. I would expect nothing less than for her story to make no sense. There is more, but I do respect your time and attention to this and am sure you will look deeper. The prosecution used as weight to convict her and sentence her to death the very thing that would have exonerated her or at least nullified the scene at the grave. Prosecutor Greg Davis was confronted with the facts of the case being entirely circumstantial evidence, no motive, no sense and no confession. Mr. Davis's response was, She did everything to herself. She put herself on death row because of what she did to those two children. This response has less weight than any I've ever heard to any legal challenge, by far and away. That response has no substance. If she had just killed her kids, why would she be there doing something like that in front of people. Cool, more assists for the guy stat padding by being a ball hog. I've even seen him getting upset at times when his teammates don't take the shot after he passes it because then he doesn't get an assist. How about share the ball more and allow others to make plays as well and get more assists as a team instead of stat padding yourself and ending up with less assists as a team, so low that your team has been 20th or worse in the league in assists for 9 out of your 11 seasons with them. Don't get it twisted, the OKC Thunder offense is mediocre at best and has little flow or rhythm to it with their ball hogging point guard resulting in lack of passing and getting assists as a team. They're doing well this season because they have the #1 ranked defense in the league. At the highest levels of basketball, your offense has to be far less predictable with far more ball movement, especially if you want to win the championship. Offense at the highest level of basketball (it's the NBA not AAU) requires more than just "open" shots, it requires a high level offense with good flow and rhythm. Why do you think both Paul George and Schroder are at mediocre 3P% by their standards and the Thunder as a team is ranked dead last in 3P% if they're getting so many "open" shots? Not to mention Alex Abrines and Patrick Patterson's 3P% being way down from their career averages. Cause there's no flow in the offense. This is not AAU basketball, it's not just about getting "open" shots in an offense with no flow, rhythm, or movement because of their ball hogging stat padding point guard. I mean, look at this highlights video, how little movement there is from the team. It's comical actually to see how little movement there is, except for the occasional guy setting a pick for Westbrook. Guess which team's at the bottom of the league in passes per game? Yep, the OKC Thunder, and it's not even close. Who would've guessed, with the most ball hogging player in the league on the team? smh.

@Geoff Thompson Steve Nash handled the ball with the Suns and often led the league in assists, that team was top 5 in team assists for 7 out of his 8 seasons there from 2004-2012, including #1 for 3 years in a row. The one year they weren't top 5, they were 6th in the league. Similar for John Stockton. Jason Kidd handled the ball and led the league in assists several years with Phoenix, that team was often top 5 in team assists, and sometimes #1. So no, it doesn't just mean Westbrook "handles the ball," it means he hogs the ball.

despite the regular triple doubles, he can't make shots when it matters. so it's really better for him to facilitate, set up pg13 and others, and let them make the big shots down the stretch. okc would be better if he does that instead of trying dumb shots especially the 3.

I am writing to share the most incredible thing you will ever hear, and it has everything to do with your position if you will follow it. I am only showing you the way as I have found it through much study and life experience. Perhaps my best case for Truth of this is found in the book of Habakkuk 1-2:17 where he was given a vision of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany. Some very strong and interesting proof is in the discovery of Sodom and Gomorrah. This is in these videos. Pt. 1 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zrejmrxilpupdpc.html Pt. 2 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/btacm5d_stW1o2w.html And here is where the remais of pharoes army is found in the red sea. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jpl-qKScvbvbpWQ.html Genesis 19:24 New International Version Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah--from the LORD out of the heavens. Brimstone found there is over 95 percent pure. The purest sulfur anywhere else is just over 45% and is found near active geothermal regions. Brimstone such as is found near these two infamous cities is found nowhere else on earth. Yet here it is still, a God-given supernatural element to warn those who would live against Him. 2 Peter 2:6 If He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction, reducing them to ashes as an example of what is coming on the ungodly; He is love or He wouldn't have warned us. Here are two of the videos I found on this. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eqiDfNZjx67NZZs.htmlhttps: //kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zrejmrxilpupdpc.html I am aware that this is not your jurisdiction, I also know this is a life severely and wrongfully treated. This link is of a forensics expert who disagrees with the state's version of events of the crime. hcnews.com/pages/justice_for_all/forensics-expert-disagrees-with-states-version-of-events-in-routier-case/ Neither she nor her husband were of less than very respectable IQ. Also there is if nothing else, the Alford plea to consider. Thank you for your time and consideration, Jesse HughesShow lessREPLY
