On March 20, 2023, the U.S. announced new military aid for Ukraine, including U.S. arms and equipment for Ukraine valued at $350 million. This military assistance package includes more ammunition for U.S.-provided HIMARS and howitzers that Ukraine is using to defend itself, as well as ammo for Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, HARM missiles, anti-tank weapons, riverine boats, and other equipment.
Recently, it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine has received American Oshkosh M-ATV all-terrain armored vehicles already in service with our defenders. Today we are going to tell you about these armored vehicles.

Hey, this is a really cool vehicle to send to Ukraine! Reading up on the current state and use of MRAPs in the US military, it seems that out of at least 7 designs produced since about 2006 or so, as of 2020 only 3 designs will be used going forward and this is one of them... The only version version designed to go off-road and all terrain while the other versions are designed to more or less stay on roads. As of 2020 and probably even before, the US military was supposed to be obsoleting and getting rid of all of the versions not the 3 that will be used. I wonder how that divestiture is going on, if they're marked for the junk yard, sold to other countries and cleaned out of inventory already. Of course, if any remain, why not give those to Ukraine? In the meantime, the MRAP that is the subject of this vehicle is a really cool vehicle and might be called a wheeled version of the Bradley with similar capabilities secept it's wheeled and not tracked. Has the same off road capabilities, can support similar armament topside and carry a similar number of troops as an APC in a light to medium protected armored shell. I'm sure giving Ukraine equipment out of non-obsolete inventory is great and probably for good reason but may also cause a question why more Bradleys aren't being given if these MRAPs will replace Bradley functionality on the battlefield?
@robertarthurs328

Not sure which is more beneficial. Scrap metal is up a little currently
@damongraham1398
@damongraham1398 Жыл бұрын
Ummmm, no MRAPS or the other versions were never going to be a replacement for the Bradley. MRAPS are a replacement or an addition to the HUMVEE. a MRAPS meets any tank that has a 105 cannon will die. No if's or buts. A MRAPS battalion with the right attachments could go from Djibouti to the Ivory Coast like a hot knife through butter. MRAPS unsupported would have a problem with Iran. All the MRAPS carry less troops than the APC. The Bradley carries less troops then APC but more then a few variants of the MRAPS. The reason Ukraine are getting MRAPS is because the U.S, Military is focusing on near peer conflicts against China and Russia. They want to build and field vehicles that will give them more lethality and survivability then MRAPS.

Obviously the US has to baby every country under its eagle wing with American citizen tax papers money. Ukraine is only one conflict and we have to keep weapons for ourselves in the even we go war ourselves. We can't give away all the equipment we will keep the best for ourselves. No one can stand up to China alone except for the US in the event of the coming invasion of Taiwan by a predicted 2026 and the allies in the region like South Korea and Japan aren't that capable or much help. Like the war in Iraq and Afghanistan all the countries that helped with several thousand troops.. the US had well over 2.2 million boots on the ground throughout the 20 year war. And its likely if we go to war over Taiwan North Korea will jump in and Russian amd Iran will be helping them along with China with weapons just like were doing with Ukraine. So its common sense why the US cannot just dump a pile of weapons in to short ourselves and if Ukraine loses all of it will be seized and used by Russia against more allies or ourselves. Most of the weapons nato countries are giving was given to to them by the US prior. As most are American made. Like the javelin and stingers. The most effective tools. All origionated from the US and nato barely pays its debt. But did a boost to when trump said nato was useless to us we suddenly got billions that was owed but clearly not all of it. The US people support Ukraine but tired of the taxes and paying for everyone's war with everyone. Like the DMZ protecting South Korea from the north since the 1950s having almost 30,000 troops there constantly ever sense. And some in Okinawa Japan. We are burnt out on war. Crooked politicians and the industrial war complex machines greed will never end but the will to fight is dying. They can't keep up recruitment levels. The air force is the only branch that is. We just left Afghanistan and was a disaster and a waste of 20 years of money and lives plus the 85 billion dollars in vehicles and weapons. That the enemy just took over to use and thats probably why they dont want Russia getting good stuff if Ukraine loses and they will eventually in the long game for the war of attrition. so far Ukraine over a year and no end in sight. Just dumping more and more as it gets blown up and we pay to have more sent to be wasted. Russias full force could wipe out Ukraine easy but it would be a wasteland. Russia has a draft going on now so. So if we escalate it to the brink crazy outing sends 1 nuke and it's all over for everyone

Yes,it is called information warfare, lots of moves we want the Russians to know. It would be helpful if Biden announced 200 F-16's and 200 Abrams to Ukraine,and without announcement to provide 1,000 ATACMS. If we said we'd send Ukraine 100 F-35's the Russian would withdraw.

its "secretly" when its not on an official list. As to why, its meant to show that Ukraine receives even more support than is openly stated, which is seen as a positive. I doubt its to gain "permission" from russia, but rather make them sweat a bit thinking what else has Ukraine got thats not announced.
@ThePrinceEmeka

@@mr.meatsoup5639, English is such a beautiful language; it's simple yet complicated, easy but yet difficult. The language has enough diction to make every statement self-explanatory. If a statement has to be explained, there much be something wrong with it. If you consult the dictionary, you'll see that the word secret and unofficial have no correlation. If the information is meant to spook Russia, doesn't it have to be made known to them to make them sweat? If you make your adversary know your actions, why is it secret? Do not forget that such information is designed for media dissemination and public consumption. So, why execute it secretly? We're not afraid of Russia. We help Ukraine with whatever we want. Whether they know about it or not is their concern, not ours. They should fear America, not the other way around. When have you seen a giant wald softly?

Its like giving money to a relative hooked on smack or to an inner city school. It will do nothing to change the outcome, but now you have less money.

we have plenty of money for all that already. we need to keep people from putting it in their pockets before it gets to where it needs to be. besides, these are surplus and weren't going to be replaced. so it really didn't cost us anything but transporting them.

To be honest the 400 million dollars we gave to Ukraine in equipment (which is only 0.05% of the US defense budget) would not have gone to those services. besides the fact that the money is from the defense budget, it probably would have gone to some crackhead DARPA test for something that by simple common sense isn't practical. for example, project Excalibur spent 349 million dollars(not adjusted for inflation) for a space X-ray laser death star thing to shoot nukes in space, with no meaningful full outcome.

way late here but way late is ' normal' for supply to Ukr.... can ya put a heavy machine gun ( bushmaster type ) and a decent radar on, a version of German Gepard that seems the only really effective units v. drones.

I don't think the russians are too worried. I see videos on telegram all day everyday of these things blown up and destroyed. Its a low armor transit vehicle. Its not like its some sort of miracle weapon that will change the dynamic of the battlefield.
