And yes you are right, foreigners do more namaste in India than Indians, because different parts of India have different greetings like Pranaam, Namaskaram, Paini pur, pair lagu, jai siyaram, khambha ghani, etc. Very few people say Namaste. It is like a formal greeting. Cow thing is overhyped. Locals will get annoyed if you kill cow, not if don't pay respect to cow. Especially in villages, don't talk about beef, because there cow is like a pet animal or family member. It will be like talking to americans about dog meat or to Russians about cat meat. You will not go to jail for kissing in public, but you might get lectured that too if you are not adult. Worst case possible if you do that in public places where kids visit.

Actually along with the culture another reason is that you come from outside and even if we are going to go to my friends’ house and even if it’s In the same apartment or surrounding everyone removes footwear as the shoes can have dirt and most of the times feet feels uncomfortable wearing footwear for long time so… and as most of the times like in rainy or any seasons all the dirt or if your feet are wet and all so that’s why….and most of the times you remove footwear and entering the house wear house flip flops 🩴 or house foot wear
