Oh, herring for potatoes! Good choice, I've bought it myself more than once. Delicious. Tomato paste from Metro, I order it all the time. But for some reason it tastes sweet, even though it contains no sugar. Familiar fruits in syrup. О, селёдочка к картошке! Хороший выбор, сам не раз брал. Очень вкусно. Томатная паста от Метро, постоянно заказываю. Только почему-то она сладковата, хотя в составе сахара нет. Знакомые фрукты в сиропе.

Hi Lisa. Thank you for the great video of the Metro supermarket. There are some aspects that Metro reminds me of Costco such as the wide aisles, storage racks, and the massive shopping carts. The two majors things that I liked that Metro has that Costco doesn't is the wide selection of products and that you can purchase individual items. With Costco, everything is sold in bulk and you can't buy like one toothbrush or one tube of toothpaste. You need to buy a whole package containing 5 toothbrushes or 4 tubes of toothpaste. Keep on doing the great work that you do in giving us glimpses of life in Russia. I absolutely love it.
@roddroid
@roddroid Ай бұрын
Looks like "Costco" actually is exactly what Metro is, not in Russia, but in France. In France you aren't supposed to buy anything in individual items in Metro supermarkets. You are not supposed to shop there if you don't own a business (like a shop, or a restaurant) either.
@zerfer13
@zerfer13 Ай бұрын
@@roddroid I didn't know that Metro in France is for business owners. But it makes a lot of sense since we have similar stores like that only for business owners since they pay no sales tax. With Costco, it's a wholesale warehouse, not a supermarket. Everything is sold in bulk sizes and also there's an annual membership fee that must be paid. It won't let you pay at the registers if your membership has expired.

Lisa, good shopping time!. The prices are not to high, comparing the same ones with the colombian`s today supermarket, same size, regarding availability, immense inventory, brands, everything I could see. If there`s someone claiming "embargo and sanctions successful program", It`s absolutely wrong or do not see any footage like this one, as well. Speaking about sanctions, it`s really funny checking western and european beers, wines and all that stuff coming from those countries. Nice video, good for Russian Federation, you`re up to the circumstances, so look forward for the prosperity and good future ahead. A salute, cheers, from Bogota, Colombia. And take care, everyone there.

It's a popular chain of a whole sale supermarkets. We have it here in Bulgaria, and I know they have stores in Romania. Pretty much most East European countries have Metro stores. I guess it's a copycat (kind of) of Costco. But still very popular in my country among other supermarket chains like Kauffland, Lidl, and Billa. All of them are German companies, apart from Billa( it's an Austrian brand)

The Metro reminds me a lot of a Costco, Sam’s Club or a Walmart Super Store. But it’s most similar (IMO) to a Sam’s Club which is a membership-only warehouse club. Premium membership costs something like 100 dollars. Sam’s Club is owned by Walmart. P.S. Love your channel, Lisa.

I loved getting to see your version of Costco there in Russia! You have a lot of variety and in many cases, even more selections than we're used to here in the US. It seems that the easiest way to convert your prices to ours here in the US is to drop the last two numbers of the price. If it's 5648 for you, it's 56 for us. When it comes to economics, there's something that must be asked. Our currency, the dollar, is declining in value at a staggering rate. Given this, I have to ask, do you feel that paying 4800 for what you bought on this trip was a good use of your money? Over the last few years we've seen prices skyrocket on practically everything. I hope that isn't the case for you folks over in Russia!

Well in COSTCO USA 🇺🇸 is always pack with people and shoppers. But METRO is a big market but it looks empty like people not have enough money 💰 to buy groceries. Well it’s just my opinion 🙂
@user-pr9rz3sb8n
@user-pr9rz3sb8n 29 күн бұрын
It's not a matter of lack or availability of money. Firstly, the Metro hypermarket was initially only for entrepreneurs and was closed to ordinary people. Now anyone can open an electronic guest card and visit this hypermarket. Secondly, in our city with a population of about 500 thousand people, we also have a Metro, and I often shop there. But! I’ve never been there and I only have a rough idea of what it’s like inside from videos like this one. All because I order food through delivery. Thirdly, there are a lot of small shops and supermarkets around me. For example, within walking distance from me there are two Magnit and two Pyaterochka grocery stores, as well as a fairly large Spar supermarket. And in Russia there is no tradition of buying food for the week. You can buy groceries at a nearby store at any time. Well, fourthly. More than 15 years have passed since the opening of the Spar and Lenta supermarkets, but I have been to them at most five times. There's just such a buzz there all day, these crowds of people with carts. Just crazy!

This is not intended to be critical, just something you might want to be aware of. When showing a US dollar amount, the dollar sign does not go at the end. It should be at the beginning such as $2.50 not 2.5$. We also do not truncate the zero, as there should always be two digits after the decimal point.

Since February of this year, the Smart City street surveillance system based on NtechLab's FindFace facial recognition technology has been used in Moscow. In total, about 160,000 CCTV cameras are installed throughout the city - this is the largest video surveillance system in the world. But for example, no one will take the phone out of your hands on the street, people feel safer and criminals are caught very quickly, they have almost no chance of escaping punishment!

@@lisa_with_love Yes, and mine isn't the best with Breville's offerings either, the Breville Barista Espresso (proper name for my coffee machine) next level is even higher at over 1000 AUD (current actual price is $1'049[63750RUB] mine cost recommended retail $799AUD [48'550RUB])

@@lisa_with_love The highest most expensive coffee machine from Breville "The Oracle" cost a whopping $3'800 AUD Australian [23'0876 RUB] Mine has a built-in coffee grinder which is essential because without it you are then forced to buy an additional coffee bean grinder which obviously is an additional cost to the consumer. So those cute little machines are more expensive than you think because you need other accoutrements like a little bin to dump "coffee grindings" after you high pressure steam them. Coffee levellers to get your ground coffee perfectly flat, then you need maintenance items like "water filters", which is an additional cost, cleaning products ( yeah coffees machines need regular cleaning) I bought a plastic container with 40 tablets (cleaning tablets). You place the tablet into the porter-filter and then you lock that porter filter into the group-head. Hold down buttons like the two shot espresso button and the cleaning process starts. After 5 minutes it stops. Then you rinse out the chemicals and you are then ready to pull a two shot espresso cappuccino. 😂 ☕️ I must admit there is nothing like freshly roasted Arabica beans and freshly ground coffee. It's extra tasty and that first cup of coffee mmm the aroma that permeates the air it's just divine! 😲😂
