What I love about your channel is that you restore these weird and rare things that many of us have never even seen before. There is hardly any repetition. I especially like the big things, like the corn grinder, the drill and the enormous scales. Fascinating. You are my favorite restoration channel. Please continue.

Rural France is full of old salvage / junk dealers - everything from ceramic doorknobs to thumping great bits of metal. If you can find any Rico Daniels videos on YT they're well worth a watch. He did a TV series called 'Le Salvager' where he moved to France and went poking around a lot of rural salvage places.

There’s also things called a vide grenier, where essentially a whole village does a tabletop sale. They are very common around the Aude region. Not sure about other areas of France.
@danielburghardt9473 жыл бұрын
@@Curlyl0x yes vide grenier also called foire à tout or marché aux puces are common in all areas in France. You have to be there earlier than the junk dealers.they do not hesitate to light the back of the vendors vehicle during unloading, it is very painful.

The care, craftsmanship and patience you both display in your work is beautiful to watch and I love that you don't try to make things look brand new. 'Perfect' restorations leave me a bit cold, whereas yours embrace the history of the items without trying to conceal it.

If I may offer a bit of what I have picked up over the years, Sir; Unless you have a specific reason for doing so, you are turning those large offset pliers/waterpump pliers in the wrong direction. Look at the teeth on that style of pliers and imagine the way that they bite into the workpiece and imagine the way that leverage and force will be placed at the fulcrum of the opposing levers that are a pair of pliers. Always grab so that the bottom jaw is moving towards the direction of the turn and so that the top is moving away from the direction of the turn. Those pliers are one of the best tools to carry in a car or have in a house. A pipe wrench works on the same principal, but with anchor points and the fulcrum being a tad different, and the size adjustment is also a bit different, but you need at least two sizes of each in any toolkit. With respect for the countless hours that you spend on restoring tools and setting camera angles and lighting and the triple countless hours of editing, not to mention uploading if the connection is goofy for a bit, I only wish to share what I was taught. And, thank you for the content. More so, thank you for restoring old tools. For being a steward of history. I dig your vids. Greetings from North East Colorado, USA :-)
