Rusty Vise Restoration - Old Forgotten Vise
I received this vise from my mother's uncle, it hasn't been used for a long time. During the process I realised that it's screws were impossible to reuse so I was forced to replace them. It was a minutious but pleasant job for me. I restore it for myself and you can see it in action in the next videos, for this only press Subscribe button to be the first who see them! :)

I love this practical demonstration of just how much can be done with hand tools and a couple basic power tools. You don't *need* to have a fully stocked mech/machine shop, sand blaster and a collection of every chemical ever to repair and/or restore quite a lot of stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love those channels as well, and there's no denying being tooled up like My Mechanics et al certainly opens more doors, but you've got yourself a subscriber.

Nice restoration of an interesting old vise. I like the way the movable jaw moves away from the stationary jaw keeping the work piece above the work table.

There is an awful lot to like here. Camera work is very good. Good close-up shots. No moderator-plus. No stupid music-plus plus. Restore job could have been more thorough but it produced a perfectly usable vise. Clean up was appreciated. Got nervous at 6:20 with the grinder blowing crap everywhere. Painting the handle made me cringe. You could have used gun blue. Or polished it. Well done.

I must have been daydreaming when the tape went on because I don’t remember seeing it. I thought "On no, he’s letting us down at the end." I'm so glad I was wrong. A wonderful restoration showing just what can be done with minimal tools.

I have not seen electric cords such as the ones on your Sanders are these typical of the cords on all electric items in Europe or where.

what type of product did you apply before the primer? it looks like oil, am I wrong?

I used vinegar, just to expose the last remains of rust, then I wiped it with a dry cloth and window cleaner!😉

The hand held tool that has a sand paper bit on it, what is that and I did not see any power cord, how long do the batteries last, by the way i enjoyed watching you work, the result of your work is amazing, thanks.

Hi Cecil Gore, that's just a piece of wood 5x5.. I use this method because it allows me to use sandpaper of different porosity. Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad that you liked it :)

I think he may have been talking about the yellow angle grinder with the flap disk. It is electric by the way. No batteries.

You need to use a properly sized screwdriver for your screws. Nice job, though.

I wouldn't have painted the handle metal on metal with paint never lasts. next time use a bluing material it will turn the metal black as well and won't Nick off. Overall still enjoy the video though

Hi.. Thank you for your feedback Larry, I found out recently about that bluing material and seems to be very practical, the effect is similar to quenching in oil. Thank you again :)
