This scene is so good, this show is so good... it was WELL before it's time, tackled issues that no other show ever had, and made millions really think about what life & death meant. All time favorite show.

Something interesting: Ruth and Sara's contrast is the exact parallel as David and Nathan! Really cool thing to pick up looking back at the series. Such wonderful cast and character moments!

I was thinking the same thing as I rewatched this scene. This show still holds up and still moves me after all these years.

It is oddly familiar to any sibling dynamics. It isn't rare to see one sibling stay in the hometown living in limbo while the other leaves home. It seems like the one who leaves home may appear to having more fun, but living away from family and losing connections with blood relatives and family can also be incredibly sad and lonely. It always seems to be greener on the other side.

A person doesn't have to have a friggin' clue who these characters are or what this series is about...and yet they can be instantly drawn in by a scene such as this, because it is executed with such honesty, natural emotion and is utterly relatable. Beautifully written and acted, both sad and dryly humorous, as is the entire series.

Wow. So many Alan Ball scenes go so deep, to the very heart of things.

I think Alan Ball is having a hard time getting more projects because of this woke generation.

She didn’t have kids. That helps a lot I think. At least for me. I have three. I can’t even go to a restaurant sometimes.😂
