The Empress is also weak: he's called her on it many times that she doesn't keep the harem women in check because she's too soft and accommodating even knowing what vipers they can be, that she also gets caught up in the rumors and even perpetuates them herself (A'Rou's ghost rumors are a prime example of this - she was spreading it, too) and she acts recklessly upon gossip and rumors without demanding they be investigated and proven or disproven by those whose job it is to get to the truth by any means necessary. He's also blatantly told her that she too easily takes sides without all the facts in a harem catfight just trying to soothe everyone and everything, that she wants to be liked more than she wants to be fair and just in her assigned control of the harem. Even Empress Dowager has corrected her publicly and in private that she's far too lenient in wanting everyone to 'play nice' even though she knows they won't and don't. Additionally, unlike a lot of his harem, he personally chose her as his Empress so to correct her, discipline her, depose her, interrogate her, doubt her, mistrust her etc., he'd be making it appear that he made a bad choice and a lousy decision in choosing her as his Empress and that would hurt his pride, ruin his reputation, dent his ego and make him appear reckless in his decision-making which would all reach the ears of all the clans who are allied with him and they'd quickly lose respect for him as their ruler. Bearing in mind that on numerous occasions he talks about himself being a god appointed by the heavens and gods don't make mistakes (and if they do, they surely never admit it to anyone) so he can't replace a weak, patronizing Empress for being weak because it would reflect on him. The reason he too easily deposes Ruyi as Empress is because he has an entire itemized list of her failures (all fabricated by jealous, hateful women in the harem) that he, out of pathological jealousy keeps at the forefront of his too tiny brain. When she tells him the truth so bluntly it is like a slap in his face, he backhands her so hard she hits the floor - not because she's disrespectful but because he can't stand the truth when it points out his shortcomings, but he sure can list all of Ruyi's that he's been told over the years and none of which are true. He's pond scum and that's why he/Ruyi had such a major falling out: he can't stand being with or around anyone emotionally and psychologically stronger than himself and no matter what he put Ruyi through, how much he made her suffer for years over his own short sightedness, she triumphed and grew immeasurably more self assured but not arrogant while always maintaining her composure, dignity and self worth. Something he was incapable of doing: he needed constant ego stroking to feel strong and when he felt intimidated by someone - even the lowliest of servants (look what he did to Ling Yunche over the years before finally executing him) he found the first and easiest way to get rid of them.

Есть ещё одна версия этого фильма, но именно здесь актёр на столько хорошо передал характер императоров тех времен, и актрисы сыграли очень достойно. Они с большой историейческой точностью передали дух времен, наряды подобраны великолепно. Как использовали людей без титула , словно игрушек, как рушили жизни людей и как жили женщины гарема.......этот актёр в роли императора-иногда хотелось его прибить за то, как он обращался с жёнами. Он пользуется ими, а они по мере сил используют его власть и борються друг с другом как пауки в банке и выживает не самый лучший и порядочный, а самый хитрый и изворотливый. Именно в этой версии актёр в роли императора сыграл и жажду власти , и беспринципность, изворотливлсть , распутство именно вот так выросшего во вседозволенности человека. Это ещё надо постараться быть таким 😂😂😂😂часто хотелось по ходу фильма чтобы его кто-то стукнул по башке
