CAMI automotive was a joint venture between Suzuki and GM. I started there in 89 and was there 31 years. Drove test those trucks and always liked them. They definitely built to last with their solid frame like a TRUCK when many other vehicles had gone to A frame or unibody design. We went on to build the Equinox and a few other vehicles. Currently building GM EV Van.. Great information in your videos Eric!

Get a sifting litter box and switch to pine pellets (horse bedding) $5 for 40lb bag at Tractor supply or any ag supply. Little to no dust and far less smell. Watch some cat lady videos they all use it instead of the dusty clay. I switched 4 years ago and it's been great.

While I assume these units are not built to last - that's the way to go to have a (artificially) growing economy and as a side product soil the environment, You still have a good point there. If it's designed to last on average 3 years in a residential environment, it will probably only be a few month in an ever shaking traveling vehicle.

@yxcvmk

That's probably a reasonable workaround. Someone with a bit of electrical background just wire a momentary switch which makes the motor tun until released. Could be a good solution, and the "paperweight" would all of a sudden once again fulfill a purpose and not fill the landfill. I HATE these throw away products. What a waste.

Eric, haters are going to hate. A Geo Tracker is a do everything vehicle. Call it a truck when it is doing truck stuff, call it a car when it's doing car stuff and call it a SUV when it's doing SUV stuff. At the end of the day it really doesn't matter, it's a cool little vehicle that works for you. Heck if I didn't need a pickup to haul my motorcycle behind my motorhome that would be a cool little vehicle, but alas I don't want to trailer my bike and a little car the trailer is too much trouble. Keep the good stuff coming.

It always amazes me how many people have no life of their own but still want to tell others how to live theirs. These same people are the ones who don't say a thing in person. Anonymity breeds bravery. Cat people are great. We are easy to get along with because we know that we are not in charge. We do our own thing just like our babies. If we don't like someone, we just don't have anything to do with them. Babe looks bare. Insulating makes so much sense. Especially for mechanics. We insulated our garage because of that. Those low-temp batteries Kevin has may be just the ticket but only time and winter will tell. Thanks again for sharing your life. Love to the Kitties.

They seem to be decent if they are maintained and kept clean and they are very energy efficent compared to a traditional washer and dryer. We are waiting for our washing machine to finish dying to go and get one. If you go with a traditional dryer, you could always go with one that runs on propane to conserve electricity. Or just hang everything on a clothes line outside outside if you want the save the most electricity lol.

:-) 8:15 That explains why a 2000 Blazer back then was called "truck", even though for Texas standards it was pretty much a tiny car with a small engine (only 6 cylinders). Me being from another county (English not first language) did call this Blazer "Truck", too. However, just from my language understanding calling it a "Truck" was feeling wrong, but then that's what people called it, so I "integrated" and did the same. One day I was with a friend who drove a 3500 Pick-Up Dually, and we were talking about going somewhere, and I stated that I would take the truck (having the Blazer in mind). He only knowing the Blazer asked me "Which Truck", and I told him "The Blazer". He almost had a good laugh, but swallowed it because I guess he didn't want me to feel bad. Still gives me a smile, because to me these things are no trucks either. But you have to wonder if people start a shitshow about such minor things, must have a pretty boring life 🙂. As final words I can just say: Enjoy your (tiny) TRUCK, and let the haters to what they have to do... I can say "Thank you" to the haters, because You brought back good memories!

We bought a Geo Tracker new in 94 and had it for several years. It’s an awesome little all-around on and off-road truck. Good choice.

Hey little brother! Nosy grandma from Joplin here! When you decide where you’re going to put a permanent camp spot for the RV when you’re there, could you pour concrete runners? Or maybe a concrete pad?

Dang, Eric...sorry to hear people are getting all stupid on you about such a small thing...they have no lives if they don't have anything better to do than get insulting about that...wowza. Well, plenty of love coming from this fan. I've followed your channel for years, you were the first van life person (I think you started in a van? I can't remember) I watched...and it actually led to me getting a van FINALLY last year (lot of financial hangups since then) and I'm about to get on the road (at least on my days off) soon. thank you for being an inspiration and entertaining. Fuck those people that get bent out of shape over stupid shit. And man...I wanna come hang out up there! I live in Phoenix!

Glad it was out of my price range! I had ONE cat. Then ended up with my granddaughter's and her boyfriend's two. His got out in Q, not found but Wayne had one he thought might be it. No idea where it came from but mine now. AND she came with baggage. Four mostly black babies.

Is it possible to add a manual hand crank for dumping the Smart Litter box? Must be a way to add a hand turned to the device. Good luck.

You and Canada can call the Tracker whatever you want, but yeah it's not a truck, that Ford sure is though. Also per wikipedia, A truck or lorry is a motor vehicle designed to transport freight, carry specialized payloads, or perform other utilitarian work. Trucks vary greatly in size, power, and configuration, but the vast majority feature body-on-frame construction, with a cabin that is independent of the payload portion of the vehicle. "

Oh my God, you’re seriously still gonna argue with me??? I can’t help you people anymore. The tracker is certified as a truck. I can’t believe you people anymore. I don’t care what you “think”…. That’s just your opinion. And it’s wrong.

Good video bro, I personally dig your Tracker- truck!!! Oh, oops...😅. Glad to see you enjoying basecamp with friends. Maybe 3D print lids for those water containers if you can't locate original lids. Can't wait to see the truck with tint. Then you can enjoy driving your truck and adventuring!!!

Eric you just might have solved the problem ! Between some of your friend's advice and help along with your own independence gut out the failing parts in the kitty litter machine and transform it into a manual hand cranked unit since you did mention a reasonable and reliable process, just saying , Crank on Ha !

Eric, do you think the movement of the RV Is harder on the LItterRobot than it just being stationary in a house? I been thinking of getting one for home...

I would think the constant vibration of the moving tornado going down a road would mess up sensitive components. It jars every other screw and glued part in a RV, reasoning for the constant repairs ..

That’s a shame about the Litter Robot. Thankfully I have had awesome luck with mine but mine is not in an RV being jostled when driving. I assume that may be part of the problem. Hang in there Eric. Things will get better. Hugs to the kitties.

you know, it might be a difficult project, but you could take apart that robot litter box, and just add your own hand crank to the exisiting parts on the back if you could get to the motor., take off all the computer parts and make exactley what you described. or if you were really tech savvy, you could bypass all the sensors, and just put a toggle switch on the circiut that controls the cycle on/ off, my brother has done that with car aux fans, so both could run when he wanted to not when the sensor said to. If your really wanted to keep it. At least look at it and see if that would be possible, since you seemed to really enjoy it when it was working. just a thought. you probley got way to many other projects to try to mod the robot liter box.

IF it were me, and I had gone thru 3 at $700 ea I would be very motivated to either get creative and make it manual or find a person with such a skill. It's a great idea. Having a kitty litter box on the floorboard will mean tracking litter thru out the RV, I would introduce the kitties to a top opening storage container as a litter box that will contain the litter in one spot in the mean time. .
