It was inevitable that this would happen. All those people abandoned hotels, resorts, cabins etc and went buying RVs. Now they are returning to those hotels etc and trying to sell off their campers, causing the used market to soar. Skyrocketing prices (and a little greed) in the last year or so is forcing the rv industry to jack up prices on new campers. People will end up buying more used than new. That will cause new sales to plummet. God only knows what this will do to the rv industry as a whole. I foresee a few going out of business or downsizing, but that’s my guess.

A bunch of what you are saying is happening now. There have been huge production slow downs and new units are sitting on lots. I think pricing will have to come down as buyers stay away. Thanks!

@@JohnMarucci Your keystone example toward the end of the video... here is another one.. I watched a vid on a brand new 2021 Grand Design Imagine 17MKE.. The MSRP in the video was 30K... 2 years later that same travel trailer, the MSRP is 45K... thats a 50% increase in 2 years.. I don't see how the MFGs can justify that..

It is pretty ridiculous how much prices have gone up. Way more than inflation. It makes me want to keep my 2020 Keystone in good shape, improve it, and just continue to use it vs. upgrading.

You Nailed it at the end ! Prices are well over $2000/ft. I'm ready to upgrade to the 24ft bh category but cannot justify a price tag in the mid to high $40's in Canada. Great video. Interesting information.

It's interesting to me how many dealers on both sides of the border have high inventory counts. We will know how the pricing is going to go on those units soon as spring approaches. We bought our Jayco last year and so far the pricing remains high for the model we have. Thanks for sharing John.

There is definitely a glut of units just now. Not sure how they plan to clear them all other than deep discounting. Hope you are enjoying your Jayco. All the best!

@@JohnMarucci I actually watched a number of your videos on your play list . I bought a Casita a little over Two years ago . My only RV . Been tent camping for 57 plus years. Believe it or not ! I have absolutely fixed or repaired anything on the Casita . I have about 10 thousand miles on it and multiple campgrounds. I don’t do RV parks . Anyway, you do a great job explaining things ! 👍😁

I've been actively shopping the used market for a recent model year 5th wheel. Private party asking prices on 1 or 2 year old units are close to what brand new model year units are priced...and they wont negotiate! I suspect many of them were "covid buyers" and paid way too much, and now they're trying to pass their mistake on to someone else at 30% above NADA. I'm sorry if you made a poor financial decision but that doesn't mean I have to 😂

Thanks for sharing your experience. It makes sense why people want to try a recoup their value, but used pricing is set against discounted new pricing, so to your point, they likely will not have much interest from buyers at elevated prices.
