Matt, I have great respect for you and what you do. I drive semi commercially for a major nationwide company. I have a new ram 3500 crew cab long bed. Looking at the math, it just does not seem like you are making much money, considering oil changes, fuel filters, depreciation, tires of eventually. Etc. Keep up the hard work. It just seems for the amount of time that you been working after all the expenses that you are working for a very low wage. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I hope you have great success. as a commercial truck driver, I appreciate your endeavor.

i have a coachman summit series 8, 261 bhs its similar to the 263. Love the auto leveling and mine has two ACs very helpfully when making dinner. My tundra halls it well in Big Bend area and Up in Utah it has struggled or I should say bogged down a bit before creasing a huge mountain.

I have the Gen-Y hitch and it’s the way to go, the camper doesn’t effect truck as much (I think they refer to it as “chucking”) another nice thing is it moves the trailer farther from your truck (better turning) The first one you hauled isn’t really designed to be hauled place to place, it’s more like a vacation home, get it to a location, set it up and leave it. I hauled one and it was miserable.

Glad you’re back Matt your videos motivated me to get into RV transport, but I went with wave express. Really bad ass that you’re able to get loads on your way to the RC races.

Good to see you back Matt. When you go PA or other NE states and you're headed back toward N. IN, take I80 to Youngstown, then I76 to Akron and then on to I71S and then turn west on US 30 toward Ft. Wayne. It'll save you the $18 toll, isn't much out of the way at all, and it's a really good, limited access route!

If you have a CDL you can do single poles and it still is total weight not GVWR combination. I drive for Indiana transport and if you take a load for less than 300 me they waive the pool in fee because that really sucks on a short load

Keep in mind that if you keep your bed on the truck, you will be under different total length requirements. Most guys do a bed delete to then classify their truck as a truck tractor. Then you can operate just like a semi. Good luck on your trailer search!
@RVEmcee
@RVEmcee Ай бұрын
I’m realizing there are a lot of funky laws. From the research I’ve done, a bed delete starts around $5k, plus a new hitch. This might get expensive…

My delivery was on Thursday, but I had quite an adventure on Wednesday night! I ran into a huge thunderstorm in Waco, TX, and I-35 was completely flooded. I later found out there was a tornado in Temple, TX, just a few miles south of where I was. I barely missed it! Who do you drive for? Thanks for the feedback, and good luck to you!

I just bought a new HO srw Ram 3500 & live in Sandusky, OH Wouldn't mind doing short runs going east but the per unit service fee kinda sucks. Fuel prices seems to be steadily dropping. I saw driver for a different company say they're pretty good about waiving the shuttle fee.
@RVEmcee
@RVEmcee Ай бұрын
They occasionally waive the shuttle fee, but I believe it should be a consistent policy. In my opinion, trips under 250-300 miles shouldn't have a shuttle fee. Nonetheless, they strive to accommodate me, and there are numerous positives to this job that outweigh this issue. Appreciate the feedback!

If you need IRP/IFTA your company should take care of that for you. Obviously the costs are on you, but they deal with the state for you.

Did you have to get special license plates for your truck or a change to your drivers license to do the single haul under 26000 lbs? I’m from Texas also and am getting different answers. Thank you.
@RVEmcee
@RVEmcee Ай бұрын
If you're only doing single hauls, you can use a regular license as long as the combined GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of your truck and trailer is under 26,000 lbs. For instance, if your truck's GVWR is 14,000 lbs, you could pull a single trailer with a maximum GVWR of 12,000 lbs with a regular license.
@johnswartz534
@johnswartz534 Ай бұрын
Thank you for the info. I’ve been following you and some others from different states and some were saying they were required to get 26000 plates. Glad to know not needed here in Texas. Your videos have been great and I appreciate all the time you’ve taken to put them out.

I made around $300 per day after factoring in expenses for lodging. I could've increased that by staying out longer and taking on longer trips. Most of the loads I did on this trip were short, lower-paying runs. Thanks for the feedback, and be safe out there! Also, minimizing expenses on hotels and food could have boosted my profits even further.
