We stayed in a cabin at that RV park two years ago. Yes, a bit pricey, but the free breakfast was first class and delicious. The river is full of trout. The owner said if we catch em, they would cook em. You are really going to enjoy the scenic drive into the Yellowstone east entrance.

Have yet to figure out why our citizens want to travel out of our country . God gave us the most unique beautiful country on earth and many of our citizens have not seen a 10th of it. I have always liked Wyoming. Buffalo Bill was instrumental in getting the dam built the Irma hotel in cody was his named after his daughter.

"I see the light at the end of the tunnel." No, Russ, whatever you do, don't go into the light! What the heck flew past you from over your left shoulder at 9:17? Whatever it was, it sure was moving. Excellent siting for the dam: minimalist construction in such a narrow gorge. Thanks for stopping, Russ, it was quite picturesque.

Big 4th of July parade there. Rent a space at the Ponderosa campground. You have to reserve it months in advance. Tents, cabins or R.V. one of my favorite places to be that weekend. I remember when they raised the water level in the 80s at the dam there. You can take a tour it's pretty cool. We always honk the horn going through the tunnel, fun for the kids.

That pipe is the water for the rest of the valley, Powell, other small towns and farms irrigation trenches. All the water for Powell comes Buffalo Bill Reservoir and travels by canal on the side of highway 14A. Lived in Powell, Wy 1985-87.

Area doesn't get a lot of snow in the basin because the mountains form a bowl and keep most of the harsh weather in the mountains. The park itself gets quite the snowfall. We had snow falling on June 7 at Yellowstone Lake one year while taking friends through the park. On an unrelated note, the former Heart Mountain relocation camp for Japanese citizens during WWII is represented by a Interpretive center located on highway 14A between Ralston and Cody. I found it very interesting showing one of the darker periods of American history. Enjoying seeing some areas I used to frequent and how they have changed. Thanks!
