Giovanni instrumental sounds like the best prog rock you can find in history. The song stands toe to toe with the classics

Giovanni: Kanami plays virtuoso violin on a PRS - simultaneously invents a new genre of music - then goes out for a coffee and maybe a small slice of cheesecake - all in a days work for the maestro. Life is good ......

Kanami is a mad scientist... One example: HGK song - Kanami asks Akane to play a drum part that features double pedal/bass while playing the hi-hat closed. So, Akane tried it... by holding down the hi-hat with her hand. It's apparently on the 2nd verse. Just one of Kanami's crazy requests that Akane had to keep up with. xD

I would love to see the creative process with Kanami, her brain is just wired differently.

Akane basically sounded the same, her drums blasted through the vocals to begin with. Being able to hear the bass and guitars better was eye-opening. Songs you thought were crazy, were actually even crazier! Thanks for posting the instrumental version.

Honestly, the instrumental that impresses me the most is...Black Hole. At least as much as Giovanni. And I agree with you Ryan, Without Holding Back should have lyrics. Thank you for all of your work.

Chemical reaction has Kanami's wailing which I love 💕 and of course Misa's chugs, the Akane's accents and fills, you can hear where Miku's Saiki's parts add into the mix more under the vocals lines in the instrumental version. Giovanni has always been a beast of a song too, with or without the vocals 🤘😁 the melodic line is one of my all time favorites

As always great reaction and review. I've been listening to BAND-MAID for almost 7 years and what sets them apart is obviously how unworldly talented each one of them are. But beyond that it's the tone of each instrument and vocals they have crafted into musical art that hits all the right senses of hearing and the mind. Then combine it with the orchestration and placement of literally each note, at times in odd places or coming in on the off beat but somehow still incredibly perfect. oh and btw - Unfair Game rocks, just heard it again and you remember 'they're just f***ing too good!

That's fine Ryan, i think we all enjoy watching you going all geeky with B-M lol I mean, how could you not to?, this album is so absolutely amazing that it's impossible not to freak out every time you listen to it and find a new unexpected thing that blows you away. And even without vocals still remains as a masterpiece

Salud y Rock and Roll . 🙂

On Giovanni, the fast part that Kanami plays doesn’t repeat 100%. The high note going into the riff seems to bounce between maybe one tone and sometimes up to three. The back part may repeat, I’ve tried to listen and pick it out, but the speed is so fast that I can’t say for sure. I would not be surprised if she threw some minor variations in there.

I've figured it out, it does repeat, there are two long patterns, but it is tricky!

My man I am WITH you on Chemical Reaction, that song is a straight up BANGER!!! Something about that flowy bluesy egyptiany (whatever the hell it is lol!) riff and the straight up CHONKYness of the song make it one of my faves off of Unseen World, along with I Still Seek Revenge!!!

If the growl of MISA's bass on Chemical Reaction doesn't stir something inside you then you have no soul. I so want to hear them play Chemical Reaction in front of 17,000 people in Yokohama arena with everyone shouting "HEY, HEY, HEY". It is pure stadium rock.

Ryan mate! Back with you on the same rainy day! Listening to avant-garde jazz? I wonder how many bands, even the ones we know so well can come up with such complicated compositions while keeping them perfectly harmonious? Coming back to you soon, lucky man! Best regards, Robert-Gilles

Ryan, you do it once again. Band-Maid's music + Ryan's investigation = Hidden Gems found in music I've heard (or at least thought I had). All I can say is - thank you. I love Band-Maid even more for all the effort they put into creating a piece of musical art that will not only please the listener today but hopefully long into the future, as other great music has done. Thanks again, Ryan.

Champ didn't like the drums at first in Why Why Why either... but changed his mind. It is the song I think suffers the most from the removal of the vocals. I'm with you on Black Hole, the live performances are better because of the vocals. I look forward to Miku's harmonies so much. The instrumental shows some parts buried in the original mix... and yes we feel sorry for Wave. :P I really like all of Band-Maid's instrumentals, but I like Don't Be Long the best... just edging out Onset and without holding back.

Yes. I know what you mean when you say "Least Favorite". ...and it isn't that you don't like the song. I have the same "Problem". All Band-Maid songs are cool, but it's like Orwell's "Animal Farm": some are more cooler than others. Unlike other bands, I never skip tracks on Band-Maid albums. All their songs are too good to be skipped.

Oddly enough I don't like Why Why Why as an instrumental all that much. The vocal melodies add so much more the overall song and I love the song overall. I will agree with you though, the kick drum seems to be put much more forward in this song and the toms and snare seem to be pulled back back.

Thanks! Forgive me, a thought occurred to me, and while Ryan might not see this comment maybe someone could say something about the following. With the dive Ryan took into Band-Maid in this video would the instrumental parts, those parts that most of us don't hear during the performance of the song live, be considered subliminal. I'm not talking about anything bad but that all of the instrumental parts are leading to the feeling of depth that we love about Band-Maid. I may be reaching but I would love to hear some thoughts. Thank you
