One thing I noticed in that 2nd intro piece (they used it for Splendor) is that Akane comes out during a drum flourish, Misa comes out during a heavy slapping part, Kanami comes out during a guitar shred part, Miku comes out when the guitars are more rhythmic, and the whole band is going ham when Saiki enters. So it's not just a kick-ass intro but also very carefully composed.

kanami is a riff machine.. her lick is one of a kind..her solo tasty and melodic...she never run out ideas.... she has this a library of guitar styles in her ... shes my six string samurai....happy bday mincho .. ..

The day they retire or split apart i gonna need two weeks off... No work, no family, no nothing, i think i will be DEVASTED! I never felt so much for a band before... They are at least for me if you take EVERYTHING into count: A ONCE IN A LIFETIME BAND! The chemistry, their workrate, their talent, their ideas, their love to each other and their fans is just out of scale!

Kanami ....... The guitar is just an extension of her free spirit . What a mind blowing talent she is ......

Could you imagine how many demos Kanami has in her home computer during these covid times that she has not release yet.

Zappa is the only other person I can think of who had so many changes in a song. He also threw in some amazing solos in unpredictable places.

For the worrying fans: Japanese bands of such quality do not break up easily. They will find ways to go solo and as band at the same time to explore new ways Japanese people have too much respect and feel too much obligation towards their peers (even when of a different age) to forget/ignore each other. Even as a foreigner in Japan I have to go the same way, and I certainly do not complain about it! Look forward to more adventure from these ladies!

Hearing these instrumentals reinforces just how awesome Akane, Misa and Miku are together. Solid doesn't come near. Truly exceptional talent in full flow and the perfect support for Kanami's genius.

As someone said before, "Once in a lifetime band". Couldn't have said it better. The stars aligned, Kanami, Akane, Misa, Saiki, Miku, in no particular order, and then, BAM! What a wonderful band was formed! Please stay forever. We need you.

I'm always surprised how different the music can sound without vocals. YOLO has a very different feel to. So cool! BAND-MAID, the band that does everything to make the best music THEY can. As always great reaction and love the drawing.

Happy Birthday Mincho! Her creativity knows no bounds. You're absolutely right about Akane. As much as I love the other ladies, it's Akane's creativity, drive, and impeccable sense of timing that I'm drawn to. She can play with both power and subtlety, and like all the other musicians in the band, never steps on anyone else's toes. As manic as her drumming can get, it's always somehow melodic. Of course, having once been a drummer (or tried to be, anyway), that might be my own personal bias. 😉

I just realized today that, had I been born on my due date, I would have been born exactly between Akane and Kanami. Unfortunately I was stubborn and waited three extra days.

I have finally found a moment to watch this video in peace and alone. What an excellent soundtrack for a lifetime, isn't it?. It is tremendously difficult to choose a song as "the best" or your "favorite" among so many outstanding perfect compositions, but the first time I listened to instrumental Domination (with Conqueror's Blue Ray, superior quality) I almost had a Stendhal syndrome moment. That is the song. It has absolutely everything. The unleashed creativity of five exceptional musicians. It is a sheer masterpiece of our time. I am thankful every day for being able to see this band grow in real time. Well, sorry, I´m fanboying. See you next video!.

If you ever see in the credits for the songs they wrote. The lyrics are usually Miku Kobato (sometimes Saiki). The music is simply credited to "Band Maid"

There was an early interview with the band where the interviewer asked each of the band members to air a complaint against another band member: Misa complained that Kanami writes very difficult parts for her to play.

I'm guessing that Hard Wash was written for the video made to show the Masters and Princesses how to wash their hands for Covid-19 safety. Miku did the hand-washing visual.

I wonder what she'll wish for when she blows out the candles. I think and hope that it's the same thing we're all wishing for... and hey, great reaction and awesome drawing. I love it when she does this pose - just tips back her head, closes her eyes and is just feelin' it.

Excellent work on the drawing! It’s so cool to hear these tracks without vocals and get to hear everything going on underneath. There is a lot more than most folks realize!

What many tend to forget although it has been already mentioned is that Kanami has work ethics above average even in Japan. When they became 5 of a band some members came late at practice sessions. Once Kanami got really pissed (f*****g angry) and even cried. Since then no member comes late. A tour de force when you consider these are all women/ladies/girls not even at their peak but adulated b so many! No big head in this band!

I enjoyed the whole 24 min and your drawing. Always Great to discover new things from your commentary. Even in Japan people tend to prefer more technical guitarists like those who you’ve reacted in your channel, but what I like about her is she does not over complicate tunes to make them her signature structure like you said. And Misa and Akane are just great to complete this Band-Maid sound and Miku started to contribute as an instrumentalist while Saiki’s voice fits perfectly. Glad to know there are folks out there to share the same thoughts in the comment section, too!

Dear Ryan mate! Greetings from Shizuoka, the land of Mount Fuji and wasabi! If Kanami sees this video of yours, I am sure she will exclaim: "Now, this is a cute man!". Yes, women in Japan call men "cute" whatever their age if you please them! Now, Kanami is 30 of age and looks half of of it, which is pretty normal from Japanese petite women especially if they are still single! I have lived in Japan for 44 years and I start to know what I am talking about! Great work, man!

Thank you Ryan! Kanami is also one of my fav musicians, adding to it, her off-stage personality and being that beast on stage. "She carries you up the mountain... then throws you off a cliff" - That's so true! Two of those moments are in both "Matchless Gum" solos, ...it's choking for 14 seconds then it feels like screaming "Please don't stop" but she does, to come back later for another 7 seconds of delightful torture! - addictive!

Ryan! Greetings again! The Dragon (the one at home, not Misa) was not impressed with today's earthquake... I decided it was better to clap up and watch again that reaction of yours about Kanami! Storytellers would call her a waif... and then discover they have unearthed more than they can deal with! A demon? maybe... A genius? surely... I call her pixie, meaning you just cannot catch her. She will tease you no end with her weapon and suddenly changes into an almost (....) innocent babe....but we have learnt not to trust her endearing smiles and shy demeanor... unless we might all turn into masochists savoring her whipping (not weeping!) guitar! Kanami Tono, 2021 = Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, 1781 The song "Rinne" (Reincarnation) is REALLY about how Mincho is the reincarnation of Mozart. ;-)

Without the vocals I just realized that the riff in the chorus of YOLO kinda reminds me of "Public Image" by Public Image Ltd. And man, that riff in the second verse is just so crazy, it shouldn't work, but of course in the hands of these geniuses, it makes perfect sense. Great stuff Ryan, what was the one after Hard Wash? I've never run across it before. Edit: ahh never mind, as YOU SAID....it's the elusive (for me) Want More. And man oh man I want an instrumental of Warning....really I want instrumentals of everything. Hopefully they'll put them all out eventually.

I really love the instrumental tracks, not taking away anything from Saiki, but they show a much deeper insight into the music, so many layers!

Maaan that was a great idea for a video! Oh, how I wish to just live in Kanami's mind for a day or two. To see and hear how her creative musicality blossoms out of her. I don't know, maybe that's cheesy, but I'm so fkin curious... There was actually 1 intro I didn't recognize, the second one, that caught me by surprise. Dude, the sound environment in the beginning was crazy!! Did you have different tracks for this or did someone compile you something?
