The Tahoe Twirl, a 190 mile mostly off road bikepacking adventure around beautiful Lake Tahoe. In this episode, I chronicle my experience flying during the time of COVID and getting the bike prepared. *Also, you'll see 2 very special guests!

I’m back on the road!! Seems like forever ago that I was pedaling through Baja, and then the entire world shut down and kept all of us at home. It was actually nice to chill out for a bit. I hope you enjoy this adventure!!

@@duzer It was a great trip to my mom's house. Completed the 70 miles in 6 and half hours with a couple of stops to take in the amazing beauty of northern VA horse country. Spoke with several people along the way. All were friendly and surprised about the distance I was biking. As you well know People respond differently when you are on a bike traveling far from your home. This was the first trip like this for me. I usually ride in a big circle with no specific purpose.

Ryan, so cool to see you back out there! Lots of artistic flare in your edits. Nice to see you with old Baja buds. So typical of us cyclists to forget what the women asked for... as if the couch move was hard to remember. We get go play, they ask for something simple, but we can't remember to do it!Now excited to see Part 2 with some riding :-)

it was fun, but just incase anyone else is thinking of going you should know most of the Park is closed and there is no camping allowed..only about 16 miles of road way near the west gate

Very cool. I was at Lake Tahoe last week. beautiful place. I'm putting a video together now. The tourists were everywhere though. Hopefully you were able to avoid all that mess. Had a chance to do the Flume trail and a few smaller trails. Can't wait to go back. Looking forward to seeing your adventure.

I've been wanting to get out and leave on an adventure myself. I had a 4-week campervan trip planned that I just cancelled due to rising Covid numbers and shutdowns along my planned route. I will have to "get away" while watching today's vids. Thanks for the content.

Hi Ryan, I enjoy your adventure videos, I'm Rob an RTD bus Operator in Denver and occasionally in Boulder, I always wonder if I am going to see you on the bus, I'm probably going to see you and wonder where do I know that person from and how? once you are on your way, I will remember you from your youtube videos. I have driven the AB out of Boulder station, so don't be surprised if a Native American bus driver approaches you and says "Hello"! I enjoy what you post and I get ideas where I can travel for my next adventure. Safe travels!

I am not only looking forward to this adventure, but to also see how well that Trek Roscoe handles this trip. I bought one back in May and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It's my first new Mtn bike in over 20 yrs and it's been over 2 years since I had actually been riding offroad. To clarify, my last Mtn bike's frame cracked and I took a bit of a hiatus and just stuck to Road

Hi Ryan, Great video, thanks. I have a hard question for you, I am planning to do this ride next year, unfortunately I don’t have many days available (or fitness) to do 4 or 5 days. I was looking the map you shared and I believe I could start at Lake Tahoe city (going south - counter clock) and go around the lake but without going up to Reno, instead go around very close to the north shore (either trail or road) of the lake. Do you think is doable and in how many days? Thanks in advance.

how did the priority bike do for travel? if you use the hockey bag trick was it easy to take apart and put it in the bag? i plan to buy the kids 24" priority and hope to be able to use the hockey bag trick for travel

I haven't used a hockey bag, but I bet a small bike would fit, I always put my bikes in a cardboard bike box when I travel, it's easy

I flew through DFW a couple weeks ago. Only 50% of people had masks on. Of those, only 50% of them had them on correctly.
