I have always used a Battery Tender on my bikes 🏍 since I only ride about two times a week on average. My last Harleys battery lasted me 6yrs thanks to the battery tender. Now I own a 2021 Ryker Rally and it is always on the battery tender. Only take it off for riding or washing my Ryker.

Thanks for the video. A quick important note of correction, the Red(+) should always be connected first to avoid damaging the electrical system. It's also stated on page 110 of the manual. When disconnecting the Black (-) should be detached first.

For those of you living in Canada, SHELL V-POWER NITRO+ PREMIUM GASOLINE is the only no ethanol gas from a major distributor. You can probably find some independent retailers with no ethanol gas also.

@RykerRydes 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing Terry. Can you explain why non ethanol gas is used?
@terryboyle
@terryboyle 3 жыл бұрын
Since ethanol-free gas lacks alcohol, it is less likely to attract particles of water into the fuel tank. As water is the most common cause of fuel spoilage, ethanol-free gas has an extended shelf life of up to 6 months. However, other factors such as a drastic change in temperature and direct sunlight can contribute to reduced shelf life. This was quoted from another article. Also, once the water is in the fuel system it can corrode metal parts.

Hi Beth, Your subscriber Ronnie Ero commented below that he would like to rent a Ryker when he visits Florida. Seminole Powersports in Sanford Florida rents motorcycles and they handle Can Am so might have a Ryker for rent. They are about 20 miles from his son in Deltona. When we moved to Florida we threw away all our winter stuff from the Northeast and don’t miss it. Thanks so much for the beautiful scenery videos of your trip in the Georgia area. It felt like we were riding with you. Welcome back to Florida?

@@RykerRydes Hi just watched your video of putting the Ryker to bed for the winter.I live in Ontario Canada and just put mine away. As well as the battery tender I change all fluids and put blocks under the frame to get it up off the tires to prevent flat spots in your tires. Then cover it up and wait for the snow to melt approx 6 months. Must be nice down in Florida.. Pete S.

@RykerRydes
@RykerRydes 3 жыл бұрын
Of course. Worst thing that will happen is the battery drains, and you need to charge it back up again (with a regular charger...not the trickle one) before your next ride. No big deal. It won't hurt anything. You'll just need to reset your clock etc.
@johntucker7075
@johntucker7075 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t. Your motor needs to warmup, get hot, for a prolonged period for this to be helpful. Byproduct of internal combustion is water! In your oil! You don’t want that. When you winterize, ensue your battery is fully charged. Then disconnect it until spring. Fuel stabilizer in your tank. Then just leave it til spring. Top up the battery charge,and you’re good to go.

#1. When I add the non ethanol gas for winter storage do I need to drain the original gas 1st? #2. How much should I add? #3. After winter do I drain non ethanol gas or just add to it
@RykerRydes
@RykerRydes 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Neil. Let me start with the disclaimer that I am NOT a mechanic. That being said, here is my opinion: If I were storing my bike for a long period of time, I would try to drain my regular gas as low as possible before putting in the non ethanol gas. But would not stress if there was some left in the tank. Then fill the tank to maximum capacity with the non ethanol gas. You don’t want to leave room for condensation to build up. After winter is over you should be good to go with the gas that’s in there. No need to drain it. Please verify with your local mechanic. Hope this helps.

I saw a version of this at costco that can work with a car and a motorcycle (not at the same time and I'm alright with that). Could that work for this as well?
@RykerRydes
@RykerRydes 3 жыл бұрын
The CostCo battery trickle chargers shown in stock on their website are 4 amp models. Battery Tender motorcycle trickle chargers are normally in the 1.2 to 2.0 amp range. While an automatic trickle charger that charges at 4.0 amps will work, based on the Battery Tender website, I would go with a smaller unit than 4.0 amps. The observation that the Costco Battery Tender 4.0 amp model will work on motorcycle batteries appears to be promotional copy and not from the Battery Tender maker.

Very good informative video Beth. Battery Tender is one of the best battery tenders out there in my opinion. There is also the Honda Optimate 3 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0083BWV9Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 that charges and desulphating you battery. Just a note for everyone, never put any accessory under the battery terminals alway on top. the first cable connected to the battery should always be the battery terminals than the accessories. Having an accessory under the bikes battery terminal can cause the bike to not get the best connection to the battery and that can cause a lot of problems.
