Pretty sure Fulgrim was waiting for someone to find Rhylanor, that way he could make a dramatic entrance and have an audience for the confrontation. Such a drama queen attention desperate cam girl.

It's not just that Rylanor rejected Fulgrim, it's that three other marines, all veterans of the Heresy, saw the two of them and rejected Fulgrim as well. The Primarch was found lacking in comparison to one of his own marines, and that rejection would have had a massive effect on these psykically empowered demigods.

Rylanor was so cool, he inspired three traitors to redeem themselves even if it meant their deaths. THAT is a next level of awesome.

One minor correction. Rylanor was supposed to stay during the battle at Istvan 3 but when Saul Tarvitz asked to stay because of his suspicions Rylanor led his company instead. So he shares Ferris Manus and Nathaniel Garro’s status as being one of those people who the traitor’s desperately wanted on their side.

Something small I've always appreciated about Rylanor's last stand is that Vistario addresses Fulgrim as 'Primarch', his military rank/noble title despite Fulgrim being a eldritch daemon snake monster that cant be sensibly called a space marine anymore. It shows that the Thousand Son's are significantly less messed up and more self aware than most chaos marines that they'd act as if Slaanesh's champion is their military superior and not a demigod.

Rylanor permanently weakened fulgrim. A guy who prided himself on his charm and charisma, fulgrim was not able to sway the thousand sons to his side in the fight compared to Chad Rylanor. His ego is hurt and as a demon, he is physically weakened because of it.

Rylanor,a *single dreadnought* who managed to make a beacon that can send a signal across the stars out of some weird ass sonic weaponry and managed to make a world ending virus bomb out of nearly nothing.Not only did he do it by himself,but he did it with that GIANT ASS DREADNOUGHT CLAW,his precision with it must've been insane...

You pretty perfectly sum up why I love the Thousand Sons pretty well. They never turned to Chaos willingly, and they're mostly just trying to survive and improve their shitty situation, unlike most Chaos legions.

To the Emperor’s Children, Fulgrim was a peak that they sought to reach. Perfection they could never achieve. He saved the legion from doom and gave them new purpose and life. And he sent them to die on Isstvan

Fulgrim admits it actually wounded his pride. That has major implications, because as a demon (prince) of Slaanesh, Fulgrim *IS* his pride. Rylanor may have given him the closest thing a demon can get to a terminal illness (and I don't mean catching COVID at the airport).

The epic story of Rylanor and his last stand is, in my mind, one of the greatest stories in sci-fi. There is so much meaning wrapped up in it. One of the greatest morals of the story - Some things are absolutely worth dying for.

You're right, you know, about traitor Marines being much more interesting when they're still capable of good. They make better bad guys when they're actually characters, after all.

Couple of things. 1. He didn't grab Vistario, he grabbed one of the other two. Vistario was face-to-face with the cannon. 2. It wasn't being defeated that got to Fulgrim, it was Rylanor's denial of his supposed perfect form that got Fulgrim's goat.

The reason he sent Vistario is simple. He needed for Rylanor to REJECT Fulgrim. As the song implies, Rylanor had nothing to say to Fulgrim, he was going to detonate the bomb. But if the Raptorae in Vistario's retuine stopped the bomb for long enough, then Rylanor would be forced to answer Fulgrims taunts and show him that no matter what he does or says, he will not sway the Ancient of Rites. The Virus bomb would od nothing to Fulgrim, but being rejected so thoroughly would REALLY hit him hard.

Also, this especially reminds me how mostly Chaos fans will cry about things not being "grim dark" enough when like pervy daddy Fulgrim eats a virus bomb like taco Tuesday or Ka'Banda dies on the regular for the 23rd time and its like "Tee Hee Hee, 40k so gwim darky!'. That last bit of your vid, you hit it on the head. I would also like to add that of the 4 super Big Baddy Choas Gods, only Titsnitch and Friends is interesting enough to hold attention as they seem to be the only Choas faction with depth beyond a puddle. I'd really like to love Choas as the super big baddy of the Warhamner scene that GW wants us to see them as, but all I keep doing is looking at Titsnitch and Friends and then literally anything else. I'd rather read a novel about the mundane life of a servitor than a few pages of any of the other 3 Choas Gods.

This Rylanor reminds me of Witold Pilecki, a real life badass.
