Hey Josh great video as always , just wondering when it comes to pressure washer should I have a higher GPM? I have the Ryobi 1900 PSI model with 1.2 GPM but I find it doesn't knock the dirt of the car like in most car detail videos I watch like Vermijl , Pan the Organizer , and Stuaffers Garage . So in your opinion do you feel like I need another washer with a higher GPM like the Greenwork's 2300 PSI model with 2.4 GPM although it has that 5 sec delay , would that give me the same knock off dirt feature I'm looking for. Besides that I can clean all my family's cars perfectly with the 1900 PSI Ryobi and paired with everything I learned from you , I get the job done well. So I guess the main question just is the higher GPM a better focus for a pressure washer unit although I'm not a mobile detailer guy at all just a regular at home DIY'r

yea say 2 gpm at 1100psi will clean more (rinse away) that a 1.2 gpm at 1100psi... The greenworks doesnt actually get 2.4 gpm I cant remember the actual numbers but it definitely wasnt 2.4 Honestly, i would stick with the ryobi 1900 you have until you can upgrade to a pro unit that actually get the 2 gpm. But again, not necessary, its just nice to have!

@@imjoshv Josh, I have been looking tirelessly for a very good quality electric power washer. You mentioned a pro level electric power washer. If price is an a huge option and I just want a very good quality Electric power washer what would you suggest? I looked at the Ryobi 2300 you mentioned and there’s a ton of bad reviews on it’s build quality so I’m willing to step up to a pro level power washer and not have to deal with substandard build quality. Great video and review as always. I didn’t realize until you mentioned it that the flexzilla hose is the same as the uberflex. That’s awesome.we sell those where I work so I can get those at wholesale cost.definitely gotta score one of those. Personally I prefer 1,200-1,800 psi for car detailing and washing mowers.much more manageable and plenty of psi for those applications. Please keep the videos coming

Thanks! You’re right about the hose! I have to bend each loop in the hose in the opposite direction to get it straight. It’s a tough hose to bend. I wasn’t getting constant water pressure at first when I pulled the trigger. But after I bent the hose, tightened water connection at house and made sure water was all the way turned on, I am getting it! 😊 PS This is a brand new machine.

It's probably the same motor, different pump. From an engineering standpoint, it'd be pretty easy to modify pump design to increase psi by sacrificing rate. I'm sure that's why the gpm is slightly lower on the 2700 than on the 2300. I do the same thing all the time for pumps in oil wells. You generally have a handful of motor sizes to choose from and then you have a lot more selection for pumps to get it dialed in for your application.

@@donsmale8811it's the same model#, they did a change without advertising or changing model#. I got it right when they were being sent to stores. The only thing that differentiated it was the box. They had 2 of the older models and I was able to tell because the boxes had a older box design. The newer one was also less dusty so I went with that one not knowing that it has the auto start/stop feature. I'm glad I picked the box that looked newer. I'm sure by now there aren't any older units out in the wild. Probably all the units out in stores have the updated version.

Okay, so the 2300 versions at Home Depot right now 2/22 are different again having the water inlet on the front. So 1 year ago the inlet was on the left. Your version tested from a few months ago has the inlet on the opposite right side and now the inlet is in the front. Wonder why they changed the design again so quickly. I suspect having that long metal tube extending out was a weak point when a heavy hose was attached and moving the machine around. I just hope it still has the auto stop feature.

Serious question. When testing GPM, what does it matter how much it puts out with different tips? If you're looking for a higher GPM because of foam cannons, you won't be using the tip. When foam cannon manufacturers say their cannon "wants" 2GPM or higher, are they basing it on that or what is coming out of the wand without a tip? Am I just confused? Should it really be measured from a wand with no tip? Should it be measured with a water filled foam cannon installed instead?

@muchachogrande2019
@muchachogrande2019 2 жыл бұрын
If you're aiming for a sweet spot of say 1000-1200 psi, with as much gpm as you can get then typically having a higher max psi initially CAN be nice because it usually gives a bit more wiggle room to tweak things how you want to by using different nozzles. For example if you threw the exact same bigger orifice nozzle on both units you may get it up to 1.5 gpm or something (just throwing a number out there btw not saying that's actually accurate or obtainable) but the unit with 1600 psi may now be underneath that 1000 or so psi threshold and be practically unusable, while the 2300 psi unit may still be giving you 1100psi, now with more flow. It all depends on the unit itself though and how the manufacturer ended up tuning the unit and reaching the numbers they listed on the box. That's why these videos from Josh are so helpful, it gives an idea of what the unit is really capable of and how much it may be possible to tweak the parameters and get more gpm or psi. Matt Moreman over at Obsessed Garage actually has a spreadsheet showing the data from several pressure washers including most of the Ryobi line and the 1600 PSI Ryobi is actually the best rated one and most capable according to his testing. With a 3.0 orifice nozzle it puts out 1.4 GPM at 1025 PSI which is more than you can tease out of the rest of their lineup.

Just remember you could do that but it means it will stress out a motor that wasn't designed to deal with higher psi than it was rated for. You could end up damaging or shortening the life of the unit. If you want the higher pressure, I'd say get the one designed to deal with higher pressure.

UPDATE:1 year and still cranks within the first 2-3 pulls. Probably will buy another when this one finally does bite the dust kzfaq.infoUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX . No issues at all. Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.

So if you don’t really care about the total stop feature, the 2700 is still good? I’m impartial to it, I don’t care if the motor runs. I just purchased the 2700 but can still return it.

Yea if you don’t care about the total stop it’s a good unit!

@@imjoshv ended up returning it anyway. Was going to buy the Dewalt 2400 because of the nozzles it comes with but they were out of stock. Ended up with the Ryobi 2300 with total stop. Plan on purchasing some 2.5 nozzles for lighter use.

Hi Josh...Could you please drop a link to the 2300 psi unit that has total stop? Thanks in advance!

Just look for the box that looks like it has a newer design on it and if I remember correctly it's the bigger box. Same model # and no advertising of this upgraded feature on box itself.

Would you buy a Ryobi or Greenworks 2700 electric power washer???

He’d recommend the new Ryobi 2300 because there’s no ramp-up and it has total stop system.

I wouldn't upgrade from my 2300 psi until it breaks but the 2700 is only 20 dollars more

id stick to the 2300, it will work for the driveway as well! Im going to test the variable nozzle that the 2700 comes with on other units to see if it gets more psi on those
