Thank you for watching!
This is the first time I have been completely satisfied with a tool, I was nervous when I purchased the tractor that it wouldn't measure up to the 80v hp zero turn but it did in everyway. I cannot say enough about this tractor and the fact that I do not need to maintain it like an engine and it can be charge by the sun! I hope that you like this review, please subscribe, like, and please share the video!!

I ordered this exact mower two days ago before seeing this video and now I'm glad I bought it. I have other Ryobi garden tools so I trust the brand and an Ego push mower that I enjoy, but needed something to handle my large size property. Last year I hired landscapers to mow and it just became too expensive. Thats why I decided to invest that money into my own equipment and do it myself which I really like. Thank you for this review. I can't wait to get my Ryobi tractor!

I love my 30-in Ryobi 80 volt zero turn. The joystick control is awesome. This mower also looks great and I love the rear bed and hitches. I also really like the heavy duty steel deck. The power and convenience of the 80 volt battery is with the included charger is really awesome, I would never go back!

Nice video, thanks - well done. $5000 price tag and then $2700 for three 80v batteries every 3-5 years is just too much for me not to mention $60 for a set of blades every 2 years. I just dont see the value. I have a 30 year old 50 inch mower that all i've ever bough for it was pulleys and belts and blades over the past 30 years is a no-brainer as to which is the better value. I think in time as these electric mowers age and people start seeing the operating expense after about 4 years, there may be a different opinion of them.

I have one of the newer Ryobi zero turn 80 volt mowers, the 30 inch. All motors are brushless and there are four separate motors: one drive motor on each rear tire and one motor for each 15-in blade. Everything is direct drive and there are no belts or any moving parts to wear really other than the blades themselves. This 42-in probably has five motors in total because there's three on the deck. Although, I'm not sure if each wheel in the rear is independently controlled like the zero turn.

Awesome new model 👍Interesting comparing some of your specs to my smaller older Ryobi RM480E model (48V 38" deck), like mine says it can tow more than your newer and bigger model which is odd? Mine is upto 595lbs/270kg, which is 97lbs/44kg more than your 500lbs/226kg rating 🤔 Other than that yours probably has better everything else or matched specs lol like mine also says it can do upto 2 acres/ 2hrs, but as you said your model Ryobi might be underselling it abit on what it can really do in ideal conditions. The thing I wish mine had the most was dedicated storage areas like yours, mine only has a cup holder and a phone holder. Also wish I had a "turbo" cutting speed or something just to help get through the thicker/damp stuff quicker and a rear work light would be handy too. From memory ours is around 2 to 3yrs old now and did break a couple times under warranty luckily... 1 electric motor on the cutting deck failed, 1 headlight some LED's died, a faulty ignition barrel and the LED gauge flickered/faulty but everything replaced under warranty and they came out to our house to do the work (this is here in Australia though). Also worth mentioning this current year model appears to have a new updated seat which looks cheaper and less comfy, also its gone up $1,200 AUD in price! From $4,500 AUD to $5,700 AUD... and they can't completely blame it on inflation, I used an inflation calculator and 4.5k AUD in 2023 money is now $5,278 lol not the $5,700 they're charging now. I believe if anything it should've been cheaper by now after being on the market for a while, especially with the low quality... definitely nervous for when our warranty runs out, the repairs are easy enough but unsure on parts costs. Having said that, eventually when my batteries need replacing, its alot cheaper than your model as it just uses 4 normal car style 12v deep cycle batteries ran in a series to total 48v, that you can buy anywhere from instead of proprietary type Ryobi batteries where you're locked into their ecosystem.

It looked like multiple times you simply reversed direction without pushing all those buttons. Basically, if I'm mowing forward and reverse directions just for a couple seconds to re-align do the blades simply stop spinning while in reverse and then start back up when I go forward again?

I've been approved by Ryobi for a warranty replacement as of August 1st and was told 10-14 days. It is now September 1st. I've been getting nothing but the run around. I've had to contact customer service going on five times now. The first time I was told it would arrive by the end of the week. Didn't happen... The next time I was apologized to and was told it would be shipped out first thing in the morning and I would get an email with the tracking number. Didn't happen... The next time I was told the associate was out to lunch and was dropping the battery to be mailed out. Didn't happen... The next time I was told the associate was out of the office for the day and would be back tomorrow. The next time (today, Friday) I was told the associate was out of the office and would be back Tuesday... Mower works great, but apparently Ryobi doesn't support their products so I would highly recommend avoiding purchasing a Ryobi 80v mower.

@travellingslim
@travellingslim Жыл бұрын
This thing can't get that wet but honestly if you're out mowing and get caught in the rain it's your own fault for either being stubborn and "trying to finish before it rains" or just not looking up, whether you live in FL or anywhere else. I can understand it's different if you're a landscaping company that has a route but if you're using it for personal lawn care, this thing does 2-3 acres so you won't have more than a couple minutes from the furthest point to the garage/shed. The batteries have a 5 year warranty on them but like most lithium batteries, if you keep them out of extreme temperatures they will easily last 8-10+ years. Current prices are around $800-900 per battery to replace but it's likely they will come down anyway by the time warranty runs out or they break.

It's been my impression that the Ryobi 80V riders (at around $5k) with 21-23hp and fabricated decks are targeting the market of the traditional "200 series" level of gas lawn tractors that are in the $3k to $4k region. Understandably paying premium for batteries and the conceptual (but probable) reduced maintenance long term. A common feature of the traditional 200 series gas lawn tractor is a locking or posi type rear diff so that both rear wheels stay engaged up a hill or if one wheel dips into a hole. I can't find anything so far about the Ryobi 80V's rear diff. Could you expand on your experience with that?

I feel the urge to comment. How many blades does this have and how easy are they to get? What other parts are Ryobi only? Does it have any belts at all? Can you get a bagger? A mulch plug? Can you pick up leaves with it? Do you carry the three batteries in each time to charge it? The storage bits are cool but take away from the functionality of mowing tightly under low trees and near obstructions. The bluetooth display and hour meter are crap - it has no way of knowing if you are mowing a golf course or a jungle. Worth pointing out that the mow in reverse function is lawyer driven. I imagine that this is heavier than a comparable gas tractor, so it has better towing capabilities.

The old lead battery version 100ah was around 200 bucks this one 1 battery is over 800 bucks. 1 is a set of 4 lead battery just nuts. Even if you charged it off solar the only people that it will pay for it self is those that mow over 1 acre every day. But then your running out the clock how many hours can it go before things brake. Price Just don't make economical since but then again i am some one to takes care of my battery maintenance. Lead work golfcart battery lasts me more than 10 years.

Home Depot sells Ryobi stuff. they also sell several other brands of gas garden tractors. you can buy a 42" gas Murray riding tractor for $2000. this battery Ryobi tractor is $5000. ONE SINGLE 80V 10ah replacement battery from Home Depot for the Ryobi electric tractor costs $900 dollars(!!) - and this electric tractor takes THREE OF THEM!! so could any REALLY SMART PERSON out there explain to me why any SANE person would EVER buy the Ryobi electric tractor given the ASTRONOMICAL expense?

Electric is the future whether you like it or not! We're still in the early adopter phase with sparse competition so prices will eventually come down over time with competition and more people using them. Aside from not having to deal with gas, oil, spark plugs, and engine maintenance, electric tools don't have many moving parts so there's less to maintain and go wrong. Many places will eventually start banning the sale of small gas powered engines (California already has an upcoming ban next year).

@@travellingslim Mr. Slim, please TRY to wrap your mind around these FACTS: 1. how would all electric vehicles and tools work in the California wild fires when all the electric lines are shut down? 2. ALL of the California agricultural producers use gas powered water pumps in their fields for irrigation. how will these pumps be replaced by electric/battery pumps? 3. where do you think "electricity" comes from? do you know? it comes from FOSSIL FUELS fired electric plants and that FACT isn't going to change for at lease 50 years. 4. do you understand that the U.S. electric grid CANNOT handle the demand loads placed upon it RIGHT NOW!! how will you add 200 million electric vehicles as well as construction equipment and thousands of other "electric devices" to the present grid without blowing the entire thing sky high? FACE IT MR. SLIM - you and your "climate crisis cult" electric people are living on "fairy dust and unicorns."

Did I understand this wrong? So Ryobi made an outdoor piece of equipment that can never get wet or mow in wet grass? Ryobi makes snowblowers that get covered with snow and even clear slushy snow. I would be so cautious of putting out money for a Ryobi electric mower. My personal experience with their electric riding mower was that the speed controller kept burning out (it was replaced 3 times, one under warranty and two at my own cost - $275 each time). The problem is that they use really poor quality parts. I ended up giving the mower away for free. I dumped so much money in that thing each time thinking it would be okay from then on, but it never was. Couldnt even mow the lawn successfully without having to push it back to the garage. A friend bought the Ryobi electric zero turn and had to take it in for service after 3 months, exact same problem as what I had. Luckily Ryobi gave them a refund after the mower was in for repair for 6 months! I have an Ego zero turn now and it works perfectly. All my power tools are Ryobi, so I am in no way a hater. But I'm telling you their electric riding mowers are money pits.

@matrix5k yeah I agree 100%. I waited for quite a while before buying the Ego zero turn. Having spent years cutting grass as many of you, why do you need so much storage? I’m all for a cup holder and some kind of open cubby to place found stuff in when cutting, but are y’all carrying around maps and tools while you’re cutting grass or towing a little yard trailer? And for an implement that’s evidently not supposed to get wet, why have closed storage? While I feel that an electric mower would fit my needs, for many of you I know it will. However, and though picky, the whole acting like the storage options on it are a big deal just comes across silly to me.
@travellingslim
@travellingslim Жыл бұрын
If you watched the video you can see it's not just a lawn mower, it can double as a small tractor, so having storage handy is nice to have for supplies or random tools you might have when doing yardwork, gardening (think seeds, planters, hand trowels, bag of mulch, potting soil, etc.) The practicality to me of the closed storage is to store things you don't want to fly out easily when you hit a bump in the ground. At the end of the day, any extra feature that extends its usability for other tasks is a good thing, whether everyone uses them for every task or not.
@b.strong9347
@b.strong9347 Жыл бұрын
@@travellingslim Actually, I did watch it in its entirety, and still, I find the closed storage fairly silly. I appreciate the “truck bed” for tossing tools, small limbs, and “finds” into. However, the under hood storage is just gimmicky. As far as the small enclosed cubbies, they are good for a phone and what else? Maybe a spare pair of gloves you’ll forget about. Outside of wearing AirPods or a smart watch, it does no good especially considering how rough it could be flopping around. As I think I mentioned, my experience and needs require more than what this can provide, but I do see this as a semi-capable machine for someone with a smaller yard. However, it’s not a car in which things need to be necessarily concealed or stored. Bottle/thermos/cup holder - good. Open storage compartments/cubbies - good. Multiple enclosed storage compartments - silly. Seeds, planters, hand tools, mulch, soil… that all is going to be in the little bed (which I’ve already stated support) and yet probably more suit in a little trailer that would be both larger and lower for ease of egress. It’s okay to like something and still notate it’s gimmicks. I think this is perfectly fine for a small property and light work. It does have its shortcomings and gimmicks, but that’s not saying that it’s not perfect for someone.
