Nice video. That brushless grinder appears to be a nice piece of kit. I have the brushed version exactly the same as your other one and I also have the old blue style. There is one annoying thing about these Ryobi grinders, the base where the battery gets into sometimes gets in the way of certain jobs. That is why I still have an old style blue grinder for those jobs where I need to swivel the battery to the side in order to get the job done. I don’t know why Ryobi decided to get rid of the swivel option in some tools like the grinders and the angle drill.

Yes the brushless grinder is definitely a beast and its smaller so I've not really had a problem with the battery getting in the way but yeah it would be a good idea if they made its movable 👍

That Ryobi brushless grinder is an absolute weapon. The grinder I have from Ryobi is having it's carbon brushes replaced. The brushless grinder could be my future investment, I already have the hp batteries which are 9.0ah. If I did get myself a brushless one, the one I got could be used on wire bushes for metal cleaning

I bought one of those angle grinders after this review. One thing that concerns me is on/off button. It looks and feels really flimsy. I'm convinced that is I push my thumb under it, it would snap off. And I doubt the button would survive if anything fell on the button or if was dropped. Also the cutting disk that came in the pack is the old fashioned really thick kerf version. Not great for showing off the product on it's first use. They should also include an angle grinder spanner in the pack. Mine arrived stupidly tight and couldn't be unscrewed without at least a pair of pliers. I do like the spin-up. It doesn't jerk your arm off and is fairly smooth. Watch your finger doesn't slip off the screw in handle - it's pretty easy to touch that spinning disk if your not gripping with all your fingers. I'd say the product is 90% good, with 10% cheap penny pinching by Ryobi.

Hi mate just ordered the brushless grinder after watching this vid, have you got any experience of using the cheap copy batteries? Sorry mate I've not had any experience using the copy batteries so can't say if they are any good. I have heard some of them are ok ish though. You will need the bigger batteries for the grinder though as it can use a 5ah battery in no time. Cheers pal. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍

@TheYorkshireMix
@TheYorkshireMix 2 жыл бұрын
I've not tried the hp version so I can't says what the difference is out of the 2 regarding the power. They do both take the same size disc so the only difference i can see is the 1 like mine has a locking on off switch and the other hp version has a paddle switch that you need to hold on all the time when using it so I would just say get the 1 with the switch style you think you will prefer as they will both be more than good enough for DIY use👍

@TheYorkshireMix

It's the disc mate. The 1 that comes with it is rubbish and it will be out of balance. Put a better quality disc on and it will run smoothly with no vibration. I had this problem with 1 of my ryobi grinders and thats what the problem was. Hope this helps mate👍

How long do the batteries last run time
@TheYorkshireMix
@TheYorkshireMix Жыл бұрын
Hi David. That depends on what job you are doing and what size battery you use. If using a 5ah battery doing really heavy non stop grinding you would look at getting about 10 to 15 minutes but if you were doing light clean up work with a wire wheel etc you could be looking at 30 to 40 minutes. I've never timed it though so it's based upon my general experience.

I hate my brushless ryobi. It shuts off if you use it too much. And tgen it has to cool down for a long time. Sucks. Had it for two years never used it because i couldnt finish my small cutting projects with it. The brushed would be way better. I heard that all brushless cuts off. And shut down for a cooldown. Shit tools. Buy a brushed version!
@daninnj8580
@daninnj8580 2 жыл бұрын
I have bad news for you. Those "high energy" batteries? They don't make the tools - brushless or not - run any better. They let them run LONGER. All the tools run at 18V. Those batteries are for contractors at the jobsite. They need the battery to run all day in case they don't have access to a charger; they want to carry just one or two batteries for the day, and not carry a bunch of them or a charger. Tool bag space and weight are their concerns. You seem to have a collection of One+ tools, and I'll bet you have a bunch of batteries. Use them. Don't waste $$ on extended run batteries. You have the luxury of swapping in another any time you need to. Just my opinion.
@TheYorkshireMix
@TheYorkshireMix 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan. The high energy batteries do give the tools more power, Brushed and brushless. It's more noticeable in some tools than others though and unfortunately it definitely doesn't give them longer run time. I wish it did though 👍
@randybobandy9828
@randybobandy9828 Жыл бұрын
This is false, they absolutely make them run better. When you have a double stack battery you have DOUBLE the potential apps as well as double the runtime. It all depends on if the tool will utilize the extra power or not.
