Our saga continues with our Cool Fuel Module on our 2006 341 Meridian With 6.2 MX Horizon motors. We were provided a remanufactured top cap from S&J Complete Marine to replace our original painted OEM version which has begun to peel and flake paint, clogging the fuel regulator.
In this video, we remove the old fuel module, disassemble and inspect the corrosion and damage, reassemble the new parts, including new high efficiency 10 micron fuel filters from S&J, new water hoses and reinstall and test with fuel pressure gauge. We noticed a significant difference in fuel pressure after the swap out.

Disregard my question about where to get the o ring, I saw the part # on your other video. This is a great video, answered all the questions I had about this repair.

Maybe a natural progression from rear engine alcohol and gas dragster to boating. Always good to find folks like S&J. Enjoying your videos since NY. Sorry for such an initiation rite away in Coral. But, can't keep good folks down. Thanks for all your videos and motivation.

Thank you very much, very informative. I have the 5.7 Mag that just sprung a leak at the regulator head or that’s what it seems to be. Going to do the rebuild as you did and see what happens. My one question is how did you get the HP fuel line out. I’m afraid if damaging it. Does it just pull out? Let me know. Thanks, Paul

You’re leaking fuel at the regulator? Sounds like a bad o ring but could be salt corrosion too. The hard fuel line just pulls out once the retaining bolt is removed. One of mine was very difficult to pull out, but it does pull straight out. I wrapped a rag around it, grabbed it with channel locks and tapped lightly with hammer. It’s stainless and pretty durable. You may need a new quad oring in there too.

Been a drag racer most of my life ( long time lol). Fuel pressure was higher on the old parts because of the blockage. (Sucking a golf ball through a straw). The computer measures the fuel & air ratio constantly and yours was no doubt running leen ( starved for fuel at high RPM’s ). The computer limited your RPM to keep from blowing up the engine do to a leen situation. I’ll bet you your RPM issue is no more but a good tuneup after a leen situation is definitely in order, needs it or not.

Wouldn’t it run rich if the fuel pressure was high at the rail with the clogged regulator? Coincidently I also was a drag racer way back before switching hobbies to boats. Had an 1987 Grand National I took to the track often - as well as the street.

It does cause high fuel pressure, meaning engine does run rich. Too much fuel. Engine PCM on these engines do NOT monitor exhaust gases. Not an emission controlled MerCuiser. No O2 sensors or catalyst. Paint blocks off recirculating fuel within fuel module, 6:54 why fuel PSI high. Not a car engine😂. PC Harbor here.

Hey brother how's is all your repairs going on the house since the Huricane..Myself were just starting to get things back together finally...But actually having problems getting permits to rebuilt our dock that was destroyed.

We got a lot done with the house but still waiting for all the interior doors and molding. Getting anything done now takes forever and insurance hasn’t cut a final check yet. We’ll get through it. The permitting process is a real PITA.

I didn’t see you reinstalling the cap gasket in the video? Did the new cap not need it? Did you glue it to the cap or something cause I definitely didn’t see it laying near the bolt holes. Lining that up along with everything else seems impossible
@AdventuresofHappyOurs

It wasn’t easy to assemble as the pumps need to fit in rubber grommets and the wires limit movement. However the new rubber gasket sits in a groove in the cap and seals against the module’s surface. That was the easy part.

@@AdventuresofHappyOurs not sure. We had a Volvo Penta with a similar setup and the pealing paint ruined the fuel pump. I think it was $600 years ago.

What is the spec from Mercury for fuel pressure? Maybe the new reg is not right? Just thinking out loud.

According to a Mercruiser mechanic, 35psi.

Hi, how did you disconnect the cooling lines? Mine seem to have plastic fittings. My concern is to break them trying to disconnect.
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs Жыл бұрын
There is one bolt that holds the lines and a bracket to the module. The lines and press fit into this bracket and come as one piece. They are not removable without damaging the plastic fittings. The replacement part comes as a whole unit - hoses fittings and bracket.
