DId mine back December 2021. S&S 475 Cam Chest, Oil Pump, S&S Intake, Screaming Eagle Clutch Upgrade, Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather, Full Moto Header and Recore of Slip Ons. Had Power Vision and Dyno Tune. 110HP/122 torque. Runs Cooler and pulls hard. Sounds great, gets noticed all the time and smokes everyone I have come across thus far. I have put 5,000 miles on the bike since the upgrade and it has improved with the mileage. If you are going to do the upgrade , do it right or you may be disappointed.

Exactly! Been very happy with mine and swapped to a 2 into 1 this year. 110/114 we're my new numbers with the 107. Thankfully I haven't had to upgrade the clutch at all but it will happen at some point.

Good vid! I totally get what you mean about having to blip the throttle from an idle. My small gripe with the 475 is the off or on throttle. I find myself using the cruise control more often.

I gotta ask, where in the heck was that epic road and countryside you rode in this video?! That was an INCREDIBLE stretch! So in the last year, I guess I can go thru all these videos I missed (lol), have you made a lot of upgrades to your engine? Great video, brother.

No not a lot. Just the cam chest and the 475 cam. The road on the other hand is south of Sioux Falls South Dakota outside a small town called Canton. That little stretch takes you down to Newton Hills State Park and you can do a whole loop around back to Canton.

I enjoyed your video as I look to select a cam for my 114 M8. Why did you select that can vs the S&S 465 which has much better torque at the usable range? And I also wonder why you didn't choose Zippers Red Shift 468?
@MeathedMoto
@MeathedMoto Жыл бұрын
Mostly the sound of the cam. It was the most aggressive sounding cam at the time. there are better cams out now especially from Woods but I don't plan on swapping a cam again unless I get a different M8 motorcycle
@tommiller8714

Nice bike! Great sound. Surprised you're not running a 2-1 exhaust setup, although the system you're running looks good. I went with the S&S 465c Cam Chest Kit for my 2021 RGS, RDRS, 114. Several of my buddies have the S&S 475c Cam. Idle sound is the same with either cam (nice chop at idle). I picked the 465 Cam because the torque [465 cam] comes on a bit sooner than the 475 cam. Per my butt dyno, noticeable torque starts below 2,000 rpm and pulls nice past 5,000 rpm. My buddies bike [475 cam] seems to pull from around 2,500 to past 5,500 rpm. My supporting mods include: S&S 2-1 Sidewinder Exhaust; Fuel Moto 3956 Air Cleaner (ventilator style but wider for more cfm); Trask M8 checkvent (ventilate crankcase); HD Oil Cooler Fan (maintain proper engine oil temperature); and Dynojet PV3b Tuner with Map from Fuel Moto. Other upgrades: Saddlemen custom seat & matching passenger backrest pad; Dakota Digital Gauges (with engine oil temperature sender); Rockford-Fosgate/HD Stage-2 Audio (four 3-way speakers, 1 400w amp); HD 9" Lo-chisel Bars; full HD Kahuna Collection. Future upgrades: S&S 55mm Intake Manifold; Dynojet TT8 Wideband O2 Sensors; Bore/hone cylinders to 4.125" with Carillo 10.75:1 forged pistons (for 120 cu. in. with the stock 4.500" stroke 114 crankshaft). I average 46.4 mpg cruising on the highway at 70-75 mph. The strong low-mid range torque is excellent for 2-up riding and riding up in the hills/mountains with all the curves, etc.

Same or very similar lope. The 465c peaks @ 2.97rpm & the hp peaks at 5.62 A 2:1 exhaust isn't necessary. You can decat your headpipe & grap a set of S&S slip ons.

Im going with the 475c cam, s&s power duals header and mk45 mufflers, and the s&s teardrop air cleaner along with a thundermax tuner. I may increase displacement with s&s later. I won't need high flow heads with the 475 cam so I probably won't go there since I actually tour my touring bike. Never mix different brands of parts if you want the advertised results. S&S didnt test and grind cams with a python exhaust so why risk the flow characteristics installing something they never intended when they developed their cam? Off idle hesitation, mid range flat spot, loss of low end torque... they didn't develop a cam to create flaws in the power curve, they created the cam to run right. If you have a bad tune or mismatched parts you may have created the issues.
@MeathedMoto
@MeathedMoto 2 жыл бұрын
Those are fair points and everyone will have their own builds. I agree in the future if I go big bore I'll go with S&S as well. I feel my pipes and intake pair well with my cam but I plan on going 2 into 1 in the near future for a bit better performance.

For me it was of the cams that were out at the time I liked it the most. I tend to ride my bagger out in the RPMs so I liked that this cam bumped the hp up as well as kept the torque numbers really linear. I don't think that there is a bad cam for the M8s. I think you can choose the wrong one for your riding style. Plus I loved the aggressive idle on this cam in videos

With the S&S 475 cam have you noticed any engine chatter or hesitation when you give it the beans at 1800 or 2000 rpms? Some of the dyno sheets I have seen show the S&S 475 likes to be above 3000 rpms.
@MeathedMoto
@MeathedMoto 11 ай бұрын
It's definitely happier above 3000 as far as power and kick. But from idle to 3000 isn't chattery or hesitant just not in the power band. There's definitely more valve noise but that's to be expected when you go to the limit of the stock valve springs for lift. Plus the M8 has twice the valves as a Twin Cam so it's automatically more noisy as far as the valve train goes. To avoid a massive torque dip in the bottom end get a mid to full length 2 into 1. Should help mitigate the flatness of the bottom end.
