I'm hopelessly in love with the traditional style of sailing boat and the workboats of yesteryear. Most of the contemporary designs don't cut it with me.

Totally agree. "Seaworthynes the forgotten factor" Is a very good read to understand how art and science meets in boatbuilding.

it was my stepfather Odd Henriksen who build this boat at Frøya in Norway and named it Nangyala, i have been a part of the build and also sailed it many times in waves up to 10 meters, good to se that it is still in good use.

Colin Archer family emigrated to Norway from Scotland in 1825 were he became one of Norway great naval architects. His boat designs are credited with saving hundreds of lives. Inch for inch some of the most sea worthy boat ever built, is anyone in Norway building his boats?

Hi, where is she now? Did you make it to New Zealand?

very beautifull! I used to sail and live aboard a New colin archer CA 40 20 years ago. I love the way you found solutions (electric aids) for the winches and how you furnished her with a cockpit cover for the helmsman! great! Is she still for sale?

why is engine running by 3.38?

It helps to manouvre the boat. A boat like that does not sail well only with main and staysail, she needs the jib to really get going.

Yes, but the family resetled from Norway to Australia and established a farm called Eidsvold between Maryborough and Bundaberg Later a gold-rush took place before again beein a farm well known for tits horses. UK Prince Charles visited the place several times just for that. One of the sons wich resetled to Australia resetled again back to Norway, and that son was Colin Archer.
