We were sad to leave the Addo Elephant National Park because we had a fantastic time there, but we were excited to drive all the way down to the Gamtoos Mouth area. We were lucky to find a short piece of gravel road to travel on and jumped at the chance! When we arrived at the Gamtoos Mouth Resort we were flabbergasted by the beauty of the whole area. The green bushes, the huge sand dunes and the estuary were just gorgeous. A few days spent here, would certainly lift anyone's spirits. After exploring the tiny holiday settlement, we found another short stretch of gravel which took us all along the banks of the Gamtoos River. This road was absolutely amazing. We went through under the N2 highway and then found the old single-lane steel-girded bridge which took us away from this beautiful place. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #gamtoosmouth #gamtoosresort #gamtoosriver

Ai what can I say about the Gamtoos Valley, I knew a girl there, she was built like a Race Horse but she had the heart of rugby player, a real Tomboy at heart, you know the type you could just sit and stare at for hours and wonder what was God thinking when he made her. We were at the Biltong festival at Somerset East when she so nonchalant wandered over and took my beer out of my hand and downed it right there right in front of me. My jaw dropped and I noticed the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen, when she smiled at me , I smiled back she winked at me and said, "See you on the other side" I thought she meant on the other side of the Dance Floor, NO she meant not right here, not right now, but when we are both DEAD!

W😎W!! , what stunning places you take us to! "Homo Sapiens" ....I had a good laugh...judging by the conditions of some of those roads, Sonia's wish - for more gravel roads may soon be granted 😀

One place wants to be more beautiful than the previous one, it's such a pleasure to discover some of these places which we've never been to before and to share it with like-minded folks who also enjoy them. If Sonia (and I to be fair) has her way, she will never put one tyre on tar again. 😎🚗

Margaret and Ayliff Barnes, my late aunt and uncle, used to run that caravan park in their later years. I seem to remember it belonged to Colin Rushmere, father of famous cricketer Mark Rushmere. This episode stirred up a lot of happy childhood memories, swimmimg in that river and scrambling around those awesome dunes. Braai on the river bank. Simpler times. Will have the coffee ready for your next episode ☕☕

This brings back so many happy memories. It broke my heart to leave our home in Cape Town. But you know, God doesnt take away without giving also. When we had to move because my hubby got a good position in PE, I so fell in love with Eastern cape, and we visited here and all around and it was just so beautiful, and two of my children were born here. Homo sapiens...please forgive the huge eye roll 😒🙄😖

Very interesting! I've not heard of the Gamtoos River until watching this! When I looked it up, I saw that it's the 7th longest river in SA, even longer than the well known Olifants and Tugela rivers!

Hi you two! Thank you for introducing me to Gamtoos River Mouth. Those white sands along the water (with only three homo sapience visible) is unbelievable and the greenery is fantastic. Glad you could duck and dive to avoid the N2 in favour of some gravel roads! I'm looking forward to the next trip. Keep safe!

It was such a fantastic drive along the water's edge! The fact that it was on gravel and there happened to be incredible rock formations mere metres away, was simply amazing! Those long white sand dunes were a sight to behold, it felt like they were never going to end. So happy that you also enjoyed this one! 🤩🚗

Welcome to my world guys. I stay on one of the farms 7kms up the road from the village. This place is soo beautiful and peaceful, I just LOVE it. The drive to Jbay for grocery shopping always reminds me of the drive to the coast for childhood holidays, so I feel like I am on a constant holiday living here. We have porcupines on the farm and mongoose which often visit in the little garden behind my cottage, and the bird life is spectacular. Please come again when the aloes are blooming, the cliffs along the river turn into a carpet of red, orange and yellow, too beautiful for words and then to top that off near the end of winter the wildflowers cover this world in yellows, pinks and purples, it is blindingly beautiful. Everybody rushes off to the Western Cape for the wildflowers, I look out my back door 😍😍 So glad you loved it here. Happy Travels - May you never run out of interesting little gravel roads

Thank you for watching our video and for your comment. 😊 It's always fantastic to hear how someone loves the natural environment they live in. You're indeed very fortunate to call this area home. We thought the natural beauty was just amazing, from dunes to estuary to rock formations. We loved it all! 🤩🚗 The aloes and wildflowers certainly sound gorgeous, we'll remember that. For us, the absolute ultimate would be seeing a porcupine. We're obsessed with them, but have only been lucky enough to spot one once. 😍

Ok I was really interested to see this river, because my ancestors used to have a hotel called the Bland drift hotel along the river. before bridge was built in 1893, there was an old pepper and blue gum tree in front of the building. It was Alexandera Downing who owned the hotel was also a post office. sad that none of this history is recored anywhere.
