Our visit to the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town was nothing short of incredible. The transformation and expansion of the waterfront since our last visit left us in awe. The place exudes a world-class vibe, with an international crowd of tourists adding to the lively atmosphere. As we strolled through the vibrant surroundings, the majestic Table Mountain served as a constant reminder of the city's unique beauty. The diversity of activities and attractions was impressive, offering a plethora of options for entertainment. Hi Curtis Sonia and im missing Dusty, thanks for this awesome visit to the V&A and aquarium. Sonia you don't have to take a backseat in terms of your camera abilities, great job, well done. Cape Town is unique. Its like you are in the Americas or Europe. I am in Canada but I have put Cape Town on my bucketlist of places to visit. Thanks for sharing this video

Many happy memories here for me. I worked at the Clicks for a short while. My hubby Roger and I frequented the V & A often, we drank coffee at Mug & Bean, visited the clock tower and swing bridge, just walking around and enjoying an ice cream. I see there is a new and bigger swing bridge. Awesome! The arena was the venue for our annual Belly Dance Festival (I was a dancer and teacher in those days) So, happy memories with a side serving of sorrow, as Roger is no longer with me, at least not in the flesh.

Another good and busy part of Cape Town that I have not been in a long time...maybe I am getting too old for all the hustle and bustle.. 🙂. But I do remember "The Docks" as I know it .. long before the Waterfront came into existence. My father used to work for the SA Railways and he spent some time in the sixties working at...and I cant remember if it was the Duncan or the Sturrock dock. Those days there were police at the entrances and your vehicle could be searched. I went with my father a few times when they were working over a weekend and one of the staff once took me into the underground tunnels in and around the dry docks. At that stage of my life I never thought you could have tunnels under the sea....Now when I drive past the docks I still see some of the cranes that my late father built.

Hi guys amazing trip around the V and A 20 years ago since I was there wow its definitely much bigger going around with you guys was a blast so interesting and fun with the stunning mountains in the back ground. We'll Curtis you had my favourite larger Stella Artois .the nick name is a Nelson as in Nelson Mandela = Stella lol thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one

Saw a Sunfish in the Two Oceans Aquarium back in January 2018. They called it "Holy Moly" as it had a hole in its lip. One of the strangest creatures I've ever seen. It probably thought the same about me!!!!

This is a bittersweet watch for me, the Victoria and Alfred was always one of my favourite hotels - I didn't stay their with my family on our Cape Town Holidays, prefering the flexibility of the Court Yard near Observatory , but after returning to the UK, always stayed their on business trips. I can remember the agressive Seagulls attacking the diners at breakfast time on the terrace you were walking. On another trip doing a project in conjunction with HMS Endeavour - enjoying many beers in a pub in the engine house. That seems like a lifetime ago now. I treasure my happy memories of the place, and hope I can figure out a way to get back there. I appreciate the video

For those of us who have not been to Cape Town for a long time, this was so wonderful to experience the Waterfront and it honestly could have been in any European or US city, it's certainly world class and right up there with the most beautiful ports in the world. It makes you realise too the potential that Durban harboour has if the city could be properly managed.

What a wonderful visit to the Waterfront. Also enjoyed seeing the Aquarium on the previous video. I cannot believe there are so many restaurants and eating places on the wharf. Curtis did really well pushing the wheel chair . He certainly deserved that 500ml of Stella Artois. Now you must try a Corona and a Heineken. Can you guys one day visit the old zoo near UCT and Rhodes Memorial. My parents used to take us to that old zoo on a weekend.. We would buy packets of peanuts there to feed the monkeys. We also went to Tygerberg Zoo to watch the chimps having tea. Not sure if Tygerberg Zoo still exists. Do you both remember Spotty the Roadhouse dog on the way to Muizenberg ? Also gone now I suppose. Cape Town is certainly a beautiful city. Sir Francis Drake called it "The fairest Cape in the world ".

I think you're referring to the Groote Schuur Zoo, which apparently closed down somewhere between 1975 and 1985. If the info online is accurate, Tygerberg Zoo also closed down in 2012. We've never been all that familiar with the Muizenberg side of Cape Town, but I read online that a runaway truck drove into the original Spotty in 1972 and it was determined that he was beyond repair. The land was later bought by a gentleman who rebuilt Spotty and he can still be seen today. 🐶😍 We'll have to go and check him out sometime! I'm very familiar with both Corona and Heineken and enjoy them both on occasion. 😁🍺

So sad to hear about the demise of the two zoo's. I guess the Rhodes Memorial is still standing. Would love you to show us Spotty if you happen to pass that way sometime.You can't beat an ice cold Lager on a hot day. We can still buy South African beers here in NZ from the South African shops.@@DustBugsTravel

Hi you two! Another surprise from you! The last time I was at the V&A was in the previous century. Even then it was quite an attraction, but nothing compared to what you showed us today! I agree with Sonia; there is only one Africa. And the entrance to the one Africa is from the sea at the foot of Table Mountain. Your video is proof of that. The the views of this spectacular (mainly for tourist?) shopping/business center, its highly interesting historical connections combined with the beautiful harbour, is beyond description. I am glad that both of you could go on the walkabout together. I hope my patience will last until the next adventure. Keep safe!

Judging by what we saw on Tuesday when we visited, there certainly are quite a few companies with offices there, but for us, the Waterfront is overwhelmingly geared towards tourism, in the form of shopping, activities, entertainment, eating and drinking. It is quite the destination and we'll happily visit again. 🇿🇦😍

The Diamond Museum would have allowed you to film, when I was last there they allowed me to take pictures with my big digital camera, and the tour was in fact very interesting!

Another wonderful video, love the slow paced and details you get as you walk around, almost like being there with you. You guys always end up in a gift shop, is there a mark or name brand that sells locally made items, not in the cape necessarily but in your is there a way to tell if it’s locally made?

Thank you, I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the walkabout! 😁 We love checking out the variety of items in shops and markets, it really reflects what a big industry tourism has become in our country. 🇿🇦😍 While I suspect that the vast majority of items are locally-made, I'm not sure of that. I think the only way is to ask and hope the info given is accurate.

Haha mijn reactie is foetsie, dus poging 2. The Netherlands op plaats 4 van kopers from abroad 🇳🇱🤩. Als inwoners van een piepklein landje zijn we niet weg te slaan van de Kaap sinds 1652 😁👍⛵️. Mooi dat wij onze bijdrage leveren aan de economie van Kaapstad en andere delen van het prachtige Zuid-Afrika. Dat gele ‘fotografie raam’ op 10.48 minuten daar ging ik ook op de foto, leuke herinnering en heerlijk toeristisch. Doet mij verlangen naar een volgende vakantie in jullie prachtige land 🇿🇦🐘👜. Zo te zien ben ik een flink stuk van de shopping mall mis gelopen, maar ja mijn koffer zat toen toch al bomvol. De hamvraag is: hebben jullie nog wat gekocht?? 😊

My wallet is always a lot emptier when we leave a place like the Waterfront, that I can assure you! 😁 We have very little attachment to tangible memories though, so we mainly buy small gifts for others and not for ourselves. We believe in and hang on to the intangible memories, which is another reason these videos are so important to us. 🇿🇦😍

I'm not into crowds, so we don't frequent the major touristy places and would much rather take the backroads and run away to the bush! 😁 I'm happy that we're making a point to rediscover these places now though. 🇿🇦

I wonder if all these 100s of stalls sell anything?! Everyone look so tired.....nowhere to sit, unless you are paying for it in a pricey eating place..... Not my words.... 3 friends went there last week..... And here I sit and watch everything from my sleeper couch! Dont walk so much anymore......😀😁

We were there on Tuesday this week, straight after the Aquarium and our experience couldn't have been any more different to that of your three friends. 🤷🏻‍♂️ There are tons of benches and other places to sit on completely free of any charge and Sonia made full use of many of them as she rested between walks. It is mid-summer in Cape Town, so the temperatures in the 30's do tire one out with all the walking. Folks seemed very happy and excited to be there though. We chatted to several vendors and they all said they still have sales daily, but business has of course slowed down since the festive season. I think that's perfectly normal though.

I go there often to just be in the hustle and bustle of the waterfront, it's a great vibe. Can sit on the benches that are everywhere also tables and chairs if you want to sit there. Lots of food trucks if you don't want to go to restaurants. Still has all the other South African shops like Mugg n Bean , Spur , Tigers Milk , KFC, McDonald's, Starbucks , Wimpy etc.

Can also watch sport matches sitting on the pavilion at the big screen. Lots of free things to do on your birthday month too. Think us Cape townians just also like walking and being outside next to the water and in view of the mountain.

Firstly congratulations on reaching 25K subscribers 👏, you really made the Waterfront outstanding...Cape Town voted the second best city in the word, is a push...being a proud Capetonian its bragging rights for my friends in Australia, however realistically Cape Town doesn't come close to Vancouver and other beautiful cities...the sea lapping the Atlantic Seaboard is frightfully ice cold, the Cape Flats are a danger zone and the N2 from the Airport to Town is an embarrassment 😳...beautiful to me is the bushveld or a Karoo Sunset

Indeed. The Waterfront is named after Prince Alfred, who began construction on the harbour in 1860, and his mother, Queen Victoria. 👑
