I just started to read your book and I’m going to try very hard to be polite. As a woman who’s owned my farm since 1985 I find it insulting that you make it sound as if you yourself are personally responsible for bringing about this lifestyle. The desire to farm has been around since Adam and Eve. Hence the garden of Eden. The periodical “The Mother Earth News” put out their very first issue in the 1970’s. I ought to know because I bought that very first issue. Carla Emery is a goddess among back to the landers. So making it sound as if you “discover” the lifestyle seems narcissistic at the least. Many, many people came before you. And while I’m sure that newbies are hanging on your every word, dewy eyed at the idea of following in your footsteps I hope that at least some of them will do a google search on the back to the land movement or homesteading.
