I've been promising this episode for months, and it's finally here! Christian is joining me to finally share the entire charter school saga and trust me-- it's a doozy! It's the hardest project we've ever done by far, but also one of the best.
Listen in for our darkest times, our biggest victories, and our most poignant lessons. Even if you have no interested in charter schools, you won't want to miss this one!

“Create a meaningful challenge in your life” Jill- that is the best advice I’ve heard! Y’all are amazing! This story has been incredible to listen to.

This was our story about thirty years ago. By the time school started, we took a big 30% or more of the students that were in the district. Very small town, yes it got ugly. But the district was so reckless and when children are growing, you don’t have time to keep fighting back, the school is very active still and very successful. It’s not for everyone but it gives parents a choice, which is healthy

I love charter schools. We have our daughter at a classical academy in Texas. Congratulations on your school. It will be an amazing addition to your community. Your story was inspiring and also gave great insight into why charter schools grow slowly.

Jill and Christian, this was probably the most inspirational episode yet (although, I find all episodes great). Every step of the way was up hill for you all but you did it and obviously well! I applaud your drive to make things happen and it lit a fire in me to keep reaching for my goals! Thank you and congratulations on the new school...it will be amazing! Oh my goodness! Best message I have heard in a long time. Has Christian considered preaching? It is wonderful to hear a regular guy speak with such faith. Love this story, and definitely see how the two of you complement one another.

OMG, I can barely put into words how I feel listening to your story. A hundred adjectives come to mind but stringing them into sentences just doesn't feel like it would be enough. I'll just say that the commitment of everyone involved is just unbelievable. Jill hearing you describe the first day with everyone lining the halls almost had me in tears, I feel like I was there. To me it sounds like devine intervention the way you & your colleagues came together at just the right time to create something so important & necessary for your community. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story & continued blessings going forward. ❤

Oh man you guys are just at the beginning. Having been involved on a Charter school board for nearly 20 years, its a roller coaster! I totally understand your passion to help out even though your kids were home-schooled, I haven't had a kid in our charter for nearly 10 years and still participate because I love the mission and vision, and know the good we do compared to the local district.

Every podcast that you do is better than the one before. Thank you to all who are involved in this process for the betterment of the children. The years that I spent in the public school system were for the children…Teaching is amazing especially with an Admin that has the same focus…the children.

This was amazing! What an incredible community that has come together to support you and those who worked with you, to keep a school in your community. The children and community will be better off for it. You’ve inspired me greatly over the years but today you moved me in a new way and I had tears with you Jill. Two things I tell myself regularly, “nothing worth having comes easy” and “dreams and goals never come to fruition if you don’t work to achieve them”. As only Jill would say, “Create a meaningful challenge in your life”. Duly noted!

Oh man! This is so good to hear! You guys have most definitely started something big here. Pave the way, yes you did. The things you and your community went through and came out on the other side of....Amen!! This makes my spirit leap! God bless you and the charter and the families that made it happen.

I've not mentioned this to you before, Jill, but I was at the school board meeting up in Wheatland whenever it was that the stuff with the old Chugwater school really hit the fan. I had gone with a friend for moral support for a coaching issue her kid was having and I was struck by how many people there were. I had no idea what I was in for! (I had brought my knitting along because I expected it to be boring.) It was pretty much all the teachers from Chug that were there- and they had all just found out that the school district was cutting their funding by huge amounts. Mayor Ash stood up and held the superintendent's feet to the fire. It was the craziest 2 hours. By the end of it, I was filled with (like you said in this video) this need for justice to be done for Chugwater and its teachers. I was so fired up, and my kids weren't even involved. Anyway, all that to say, it's so fascinating to look back now and see how this process unfolded. I would never have guessed then that this injustice toward the Chugwater school would end up affecting our lives as a family so much. And I am so glad that God saw fit to bring Daniel in to be part of this very important thing that you guys (and others, I know) have started there. Very cool. :)

So inspiring. It clearly was yours to grow and supernatural was written in the plan. Kudos to you ALL for blazing on and on and trusting! Thanks for sharing a great story! Wondering if Rory Feek could be of help to you all with what he created within his school. Just a thought...

love what you're doing. you're pioneering something huge across rural America. Stay focused and allow God to have control in this. We know why the resistance, it goes against their narrative.

I just want to say thank you for all the hard work you guys have put in to the school! Our son is thriving since starting at the chug water school! I admit it’s tough for us to send him there it means a 100 mile daily commute 4 times a week but the results we’ve seen are amazing!! Several other patients have been asking me about the school and seem pretty interested. I just want you to know how much we appreciate everything that everyone has done to make this school possible!!

That was an interesting story. A lot of challenges for sure. Thank you for sharing. I live rural and the whole transportation thing is frustrating to me as each school has their own busing system - why is my main question. Why can one bus not pick up all the kids regardless of the school...simplistic to say, difficult to implement perhaps. Thanks again.
@fossil4873
@fossil4873 15 күн бұрын
The answer of course is like so many things ... politics. In New York the public school bus is required to pick up all kids that request transportation, regardless of what school they attend, and get them to their school. Generally what happens then is that it works like an airport spoke & hub system. All the buses meet at the public school and then all kids going to school A transfer to the bus that's going there, same for the bus to school B, etc. The downside to this is that transportation takes up a large part of those students' school days. I ended up driving my kids to their school because it was 10 minutes away, whereas the bus would have taken at least an hour each way. But there were also buses arriving there from districts much farther away.
