I just received my S95D 65 last week, it's definitely matte and not glossy at all. I got it at a big discount along with a free 65 Tu690t that my daughter was able to get from Samsung for being involved with Medical work. It's my first OLED TV and I must say the picture is awesome. You really don't notice the matte finish once the TV is on, it's bright and colorful. I watched Dune 2 on it and thought it looked awesome, then watched the Masters on Sunday. I like it, it's a keeper for me. I don't think I could beat the price anywhere else for a high-end newly released TV.

@@clauzone03 yeah for me it’s just an annoyance. Even with the blinds down, sunlight still comes in and it just annoys me a lot when watching TV/Movies or gaming and just seeing reflections non stop, takes me out of the moment

Nicely informative video. Only thing I would ask is to perhaps link to the specific demo videos you're utilizing. Linking to the channels is indeed appreciated, but she's got hundreds of videos uploaded. And when you're pointing out specific things to look at in specific videos it would be nice to easily see which videos are being referenced.

Great content Brian as always , the purpose of an oled is to.have deep blacks with the windows open , watch fomos video yesterday and the S95D look horrible when he open the window , and the Stanfield test fomo had done, the s95D was blooming , G3, A95L, S90D , s95c , no blooming on all 4 tvs

Super impressed honestly! I feel like the matte finish would still need to grow on me but at that price point why compromise. Especially when the TV is off and star fields would be a constant source of FOMO!

I feel it’s pretty cool Brian, Caleb, FOMO and KG all dropped a video on this today. I feel everyone liked it. I wonder if Sony starts buying Matte panels from Samsung next year. LG and Samsung getting all the hype now, when is Sony atleast gonna reveal the 24 lineup? Last year they revealed it in March. Even with an A95L I still enjoy the tv coverage. Haha

The very fact that everyone got invited simultaneously to appreciate this specific model is a clear indication of damage control. Also the fact that everyone suddenly changed their minds like it's the first time they see it up close (they all saw it already on CES) makes the whole thing cringe...

@@beyondspecs9401 I never looked it at that way. Different take, idk if I totally agree and I’m not necessarily a Samsung guy either . You gotta figure the access at CES they all had was limited to Samsung Demos and the room conditions of where the display was. CES is more like a preview. This seems like actual one on one time with them able to play with settings, different demos and content . TKK actually purchased this tv on his channel personally and seems to share a similar opinion. And he’s an A95L owner too. So who knows? Not saying I’m buying one but Samsung definitely added a new layer to QD so it seems.

Yes the QD-OLEDs have a heat pad which is similar to a heat sink. Same function. They have had them since the s95B

bougth the 77" S89C QD-OLED from bestbuy 2 months ago best TV ive ever owned - love Samsungs over the top processing (high contrast/high warmth settings - especially in Dynamic mode) mixed with the intense color volume of QD-OLED - felt standard WOLEDS from LG and Sony were dull in comparison (more accurate though lol)

Would you go 77” Samsung S90C or 65” LG G3? Mainly for TV and movie watching and some gaming.

I would go with the s90c. U can adjust several service menu settings to get it to 1500 nits. There are guides. It would be more susceptible to burn in, but u have nothing to worry about as long as u don’t leave static images on the screen for like 8+ hours a day. I did it with my s95b because I got it day 1 when it was advertised as 1500 nits, but the updates decreased the brightness to 800 nits. I would then leave the display disconnected from the internet because updates on televisions is bad news. Use a pc or Roku for streaming. Also qd oiled is far superior to lg woled. I have 2 lgs as well. The picture is just so much more pleasing on the s95b thanks to qd oleds color purity. The color volume is so good too. It really is such a gorgeous display. Trust me despite all that hassle with having to leave it disconnected it is well worth it. Or u could just leave it at default settings and it’s still better than any lg woled TV. Qd Oled is just that good

It's not about matte vs gloss. It's about having a TV that doubles a mirror vs one where you only see the content you want to be watching, instead of the room you're watching it in. I own a LG OLED. They are as glossy and reflective as they come. Sometimes its nice, but acting like it doesn't have it's downsides is just wild to me. TV's never used to have reflections all over it. It's def not ideal. Hopefully over time we can find a middle ground.

Perhaps last years S90C could still be a smart investment while they are still around (and cheaper), if your not interested in the matte finish that comes with the S95D. Looks like no big upgrades or changes between the S90D and S90C either.

I'm getting very confused with all the various LED monitor types and models. Is there one which is around 32-35 inch size range, 4K resolution, high refresh rate, and has a matte screen? QD-OLED. and a monitor rather than TV? There's a W-OLED by LG which pretty much fits this description but I'm wondering if there's a suitable QD-OLED alternative, and how they compare. Can anyone advise? Far too many of the QD-OLED 32 inch monitors have glossy screens.

I have always had LG OLEDs while watching films or regular TV, never saw banding. I go for G4, I don't like matte finish and black box.My son once had a Samsung LCD TV and I saw banding with football.

I don't like that the stand has the set leaning slightly backward. With my stand and seating position, I'd want it tilted a bit forward to face me directly. I suppose I could make a wood support to fit under the back edge of the stand, and perhaps hold it down if it becomes unstable with weight shifted forward.

You claimed perfect uniformity and no vertical banding. Not that it means much with a hand-picked demo unit, but did you actually try playing any dark content that included horizontal camera panning? Dark games with raised blacks like Callisto Protocol, Cyberpunk, Alan Wake, etc. often look terrible on OLEDs due to the jail bar vertical banding.

Hey Brian, I just got the S89C. I love it at night time, but the sun hitting it during the day is destroying the image (I’m noticing that I cannot even see my screen at all in dark scenes). I had an LG C1 before and this wasn’t an issue. Should I swap out my S89C for a 77” LG G3?

1: Shadow detail will improve over the first 200-300 hrs as the panel breaks in. 2: Play with the shadow detail slider and adjust to personal preference

@@nttinvis LG has always had better reflection handling w the overall screen because the panel has polarizers. The S95D has already been stated by Brian/FOMO/Classy that the whole screen has terrible lifted blacks/reflection handling w direct sunlight.

Antireflection in this tv (~moth-eye) = +10p A bit of blooming caused by antireflection = -1p. Sum = +9p in normal room, -1p in pitch black

For a dark room matte screen seems good for contrast overall but with light in the room its horrific to see the matte screen working as content lack the deep black and contrast in my opinion

I've been watching the comparisons and the numbers. There is no better TV in a lit room. This matte does almost nothing bad to the screen and kills glare I went from highly skeptical to now seeing the matte as a net big benefit.

Please Brian tell Samsung to alternate the flagship OLED with matte and glossy panels. This way people who do and dont like matte and wish to stay with flagship models have an option to upgrade every few years. Either that or they can alternate the matte screen between the 95 and 90 models each year.

First great video as always my brother. That being said. In MY opinion matte screens on an OLED tv is an abomination to me. They are fine for LED/LCD tv's but on an OLED? Nope. Brave move by Samsung I will say that. If I were in the market for a new 2024 tv it would be a hard pass for me. Much love to you and the family.

Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, looks like they removed the DV badge that appears when Dolby Vision encoded content is played. So after thinking about what Brian said about being bring and play back his own demos, it was probably put there by the demo content creator.

What is the point of a matte on an oled screen, the whole point of oled is for infinite contrast and you lose that the more you move away from glossy. Honestly if you can’t control the lighting in your room then you might as well buy a high end mini led than this!

Just watched Fomos comparison video as well. S95D perfect black is a stretch. It is ever so slightly visible that blacks on glossy displays are better. Its a shame for a display that shows such amazing specular highlights to miss the mark like this. Shouldve at least gave an option for a glossy version as well. Id rather deal with the lighting in the room and manage it, than pay for a flag ship tv that lifts blacks in many occasions even in a dark room.

Sorry, Samsung... usually love your tv's, including all your qd-oled, but don't like the matte screens for your flagship qd-oled, but at least it's better than sony's a95l, but the blacks are lifted, even though Brian says it's not

the S90D is a panel lottery, you may get QD OLED or you may get WOLED, that is my issue with that model. Samsung is using both panels on that model it and that sucks. You will not know which one you are getting. Samsung is not having any indication what you are getting. So your are paying for an unknow.

Doesn’t exist. 55-77” sizes will all be QD OLED. Only the monitor sizes and 83” will be WOLED

@@John-DiV the two panels will be used to fill in size gaps as I stated BUT 55-77 will all be QD OLED. Most likely all Gen 2 panels. S95D will be the only model with Gen 3 QD OLED panel, at least for now

DV is close to useless on most TV-s. From bad manufacturer-implementations, to Dolby's own survey, that proved how you get worse quality in DV movies on Netflix. It's never been better, just different. 🤷‍♂️

16:20 mate u r not supposed to show such inaccurate colors due to your camera or mobile. Ensure brand elegance for every brand. Viewers will otherwise find more accurate-color video reviews for such tvs elsewhere. wishing u goodness

That's fine as they are free to watch whomever they like. Context is important, which is why I mention they appear cool on camera regardless of camera type . Altering it further in post through editing isn't true representation either. Thank you for the feedback, and I'll continue to the best job that I can.

After my experiences with the mass faults I had with samsungs past 2 flagships I could never deal with them again. Its the worst customer experience ive ever had by miles. Sure their panels are nice, when they actually work....my advice is to stay away. G4 for me this year

What i see does not much the description i hear. I see cheap 5$ matte iphone screen protector look. I see lifted blacks. I see blooming And i see flat "2D" picture. Also sad to see that besides perceived blacks looking washed out i also perceive a lower overal brightness level. Finally the very fact that multiple youtubers suddenly and simultaneously got invited to Samsung HQ to "appreciate" this specific model, screams damage control...

@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY First of all hello Brian and as always thank you for your excellent work and presentation! 😀 Second, i highly value your opinion man, it is just that this specific aspect of image quality is kinda obvious and either someone likes it or not imo. Still, because i may be wrong and cameras don't do it justice, I'll wait for someone to actually measure the black depth with equipment aka tftcentral etc But damn because of lack of a polarizer, black depth was already a weak spot for QDs and this looks like the wrong move...

Matte finish definitely a bad decision by Samsung, all it does is scatter the light and cause a fogging and blooming effect, total rubbish...

That's only if you're doing something unrealistic like shining a super bright light directly into the screen. Normal lighting won't do that

So now that its confirmed the s95d is a bust for glossy lovers, any word on whether most of the s90d models have the third gen panel and whether they can be modified to have s95d brightness? Brian, we need you to personally buy dozens of s90d's to test this.
