We, Poles, have had to defend our borders so many times in our history that we have been instilled from childhood that we fight for our land to death, regardless of whether we are a man, a woman, an old man or a child. It is an honor for us to die in defense of our homeland.

This song is about the Battle of Wizna (7 September - 10 September 1939) according Wikipedia there were between 350-720 Polish soldiers against 40.000 German soldiers. Keep in mind this is just one battlefield on the Polish Western front.

This is about the Polish Thermopolis. 1 Polish Battalion held up Gudarian's Panzer Corps for 3 days. The Germans changed the structure of their Panzer Divisions as lessons learned from this fight - they replaced 2 Panzer Battalions with 2 Motorized Battalions in each Division.

It was a battle between a Polish captain and even a German general. Captain Raginis had very little strength and means to fight the enemy. They were small to defend the 10 kilometer (6.21 mile) section of "Wizna". They included: 3rd heavy machine gun fortress campaign, 8th rifle campaign with 3rd battalion of the 135th Infantry Regiment and a platoon of mounted scouts, 136 reserve company of sappers, three platoons of 75 mm guns, a platoon of pioneers. In total, the defense crew of the "Wizna" section consisted of seven hundred privates and non-commissioned officers and twenty officers. Its armament consisted of five 75 mm cannons, 24 heavy machine guns, 18 erkaems and two anti-tank rifles. The German group sent to fight in the "Wizna" section numbered approx. 42 thousand. soldiers, 450 tanks and armored guns, 274 guns and mortars, and 195 anti-tank guns.

The Polish Army actually fought viciously against the mighty Wehrmacht. The whole thing about them not putting up a fight is a huge myth that needs to be debunked! German general Heinz Guderian was concerned, because his troops didn't perform quite like he expected. The Germans also had to rethink their national logo on their vehicles too. The pure white cross could be seen from great distances and it turned out that the Poles were using the white crosses as aiming points! After the Polish campaign, the Germans filled in the white crosses with a black cross with a small white background and this helped immensely.

Indeed, Poles just 19 years before(right after WW1 ended) WW2 start have beaten Russia 1v1 despite just being reborn after 123 years of Poland not being on world maps. We would probably lose against Germany in 1939, but it was the backstab from the Russians that broke us. However, Poland never surrendered and won multiple very important battles on multiple fronts later on.

17% of Polish popuplation ware killed during IWW (after German Russians occupied Poland for next 50 years). This song is more about tough defence of Polish soliders (not only in Wizna but in many points) dispite of lack of tanks, planes and waapns and fact that Russins attacked Poland from back (never forget that at the begining of the war Stalin was Hitler ally for almsot 2 years, gicing him alloy and fuel). Poland harm a lot German army (almost the same as France with bigger and better army).

Stalin and Russia were never truly allies. They helped each other at a very tense and intentionally temporary mutual benefit. They never trusted one another, especially since Hitler was extremely vocal with his hatred of communism. Neither was ready for war with the other since Russia was in a bad state and Germany knew that they were about to be at war with France and the UK (cos of their alliance with Poland - not that they actually fucking helped the Polish at all). They basically just agreed to split Poland between them and trade shit that they both needed. They both knew eventually they'd be at war. They just wanted to ensure it would start when THEY wanted it to, and the trade agreement and war with Poland was how they intended to ensure that.

@@benjamindunne8132 Stalin nie wierzył, że Niemcy zaatakują ZSRR, przez wiele lat ZSRR (Rosja) była strategicznym dostawcą dla III Rzeszy, paliwa, rudy żelaza itd. nawet swoje poligony wojskowe ZSRR (Rosja) udostępniało Niemcom, żeby mogli testować np. armaty... Dlatego też Stalin wydał rozkaz zamordowania kilkudziesięciu tysięcy polskich oficerów (Katyń i inne miejscowości).

As for the numbers thing. Poles were outnumbered in their history in most battles we fought. In Battle of Hodów in 17th century we fought 400 vs 40 000 and won, we had battles where 40k strong would go against 150k Russians and we would demolish them or 3k vs 12k Swedes that would end up with 100 dead, 200 wounded while swedes lost 8k troops. Polish history is full of battles like that and just as Spartans, we do not ask how many enemies there are, but where they are. We stopped Mongol horde, we stopped Tatar horde, we stopped Ottoman empire, we stopped Bolsheviks in 1920. In fact if you look at Polish fighting prowess it makes you wonder why greatest warriors are compared to Spartans instead of Poles. Due to Poland's location we had to fight constantly throughout our history and we are good at it too. Polish morale is unbreakable as we unite like crazy when under threat and we are a nation that 'gets the job done'. As Napoleon once said "Send the Poles, there is nothing impossible for them." and that fighting spirit never died. Many polish soldiers in the past had shown courage bordering insanity (ie. Black Devils in WW2 or Squadron 303 in Battle of Britain). Throughout our history we also got in trouble only when we had 2-3 nations ganging up on us... So yeah, you better outnumber us by a lot if you hope to break us.

They didn't really need the help. Poland was already basically halfway conquered when Russia stormed in. Germany was always gonna win unless France and the UK put sufficient military pressure on Germany. Which they didn't cos France and the UK frankly sucked ass at the beginning of the war.
