========= A Lifetime Of War LYRICS ==========
Two ways to view the world so similar at times
Two ways to rule the world to justify their crimes
By kings and queens young men are sent to die in war
Their propaganda speaks those words been heard before
Two ways to view the world brought Europe down in flames
Two ways to rule
Has man gone insane?
A few will remain
Who’ll find a way
To live one more day
Through decades of war
It spreads like disease,
There’s no sign of peace
Religion and greed
Cause millions to bleed
Three decades of war
From dawn to dawn they’re fighting,
Die where they stand
The fog of war lies thick
When armies scorch the land.
When all of Europe’s burning
What can be done?
They’ve been to war a decade,
Two more to come
Long way from home
Döpas och dö I strid
Lifetime at war
Has man gone insane?
A few will remain
Who’ll find a way
To live one more day
Through decades of war.
It spreads like disease,
There’s no sign of peace.
Religion and greed
Cause millions to bleed.
Three decades of war.
When they face death they’re all alike
No right or wrong, rich or poor
No matter who they served before
Good or bad, they’re all the same
Rest side by side now

Sabaton, I don’t know if you will see this, but hello my name is Ibrahim. I am from Yemen and now live in Egypt. This song hits me hard, very hard, especially the lyric “Religion and greed cause millions to bleed”. I have experienced this firsthand, having suffered through much of the Yemeni civil war, a war about religion and greed. This song made me tear up even a little. Thank you sabaton. You guys rock.

I still remember when I first discovered Sabaton several years back. I was scrolling through KZfaq listening to GMV's and I just happened to click on one that had the song "uprising" playing to it. Never heard the song before but I liked it. I also really love military history so once I found out what the song was about I did my best to backtrack and find out who actually made the song (video didn't do a good job at the information...) and I been here ever since

I am from Sumy, Ukraine. And I think I will remember a moment from that war forever. When electricity was gone for a very long time, and I was lying on a couch in my headphones with my phone at about 12% charge hoping that it'll last until lights will go back on, and I was listening to that song. Just when I thought that there was no hope for electricity today, and it will probably go on only tomorrow. But the lights went back on right at the moment that song started playing! I had a feeling that I can't really explain. I felt happiness because of the lights, sadness because of the war, and now I guess I will remember this song for that moment forever. Thanks Sabaton for releasing these songs!

I've sung this song with a few friends of mine and they loved it. Even my father loves this song for it really gripped him deep. Even I shed a tear or two somewhere in this. I also loved the Swedish version for that was even more deeper with what was said when I sung the lyrics in English.

Humanity's self-destructive tendencies may be timeless, but so is our nobility and strength to push against the evils of our own making. Ironically, I find the Warhammer 40k universe to be quite hopeful and motivational. Because of the grim darkness of the setting, because of the endless hordes of enemies who wish to wipe out humanity, because of the Imperium's own stupidity and backwards thinking costing them lives... It's in such places where hope shines most fiercely when we see that there are still people with the strength and wisdom to do what is right. After all, a torch is at it brightest when it is surrounded by darkness.

@@Lazarultos I find the tragedy of 40k is not the horrific abominations but how far mankind has truly fallen to be on the brink of transcendence untouchable even by the necrons and eldar to the modern day imperium but how even if humanity has lost its technology its empathy and in some cases our very humanity our willpower still burns bright

Imagine you are in the Holy Roman Empire and a bunch of soldiers rob you, next thing you know a few days later a few swedish soldiers break your door down demanding valubles and you don't have any left so you get tortured and if they know you have nothing you probably get a hand chopped off or an eye taken out, this really showed the brutality of the 30 years war.

I know that some wars have been fought longer than the 30 Years War, but still, imagine that. People were born at the beginning of the conflict and grew up to fight later on. Entire villages destroyed. Soldiers killing and looting wherever they pleased. All so a few noble houses could knock the Hapsbergs down a peg and decide what religion this province and that will follow... has man gone insane, indeed.

All I can say is that just like other of their songs, Sabaton succeeded in telling a story of war exposing the frail nature of mankind and its tendencies towards voilence. This is a masterpiece and deserves all accolades. Truly, at the point of death, nothing else matters: the poor, the rich, the weak, the powerful, etc all lie side by side in death and all of life is but Nothingness! May we embrace the peace that comes to us daily and strive to live in harmony with everyone. May there be peace in Ukraine and Russia and every other waring places and places plagued by insurgency and terrorism and warfare. Love and peace from Nigeria 🇳🇬

"Religion and greed, cause millions to bleed " truer words have never been spoken..
@Aceshot-uu7yx
@Aceshot-uu7yx Жыл бұрын
True but to be fair to religion that greed usually disguises itself in the guise of religion. In truth thought the conflict stopped being about religion after that first decade as France and Spain tried to build their power after Sweden and Germany were tiring from the conflict. Religion can start problems but greed is infinity more powerful. The soviet union under Stalin and Lenin with millions killed can show that. At first it was ideology but then became truly despotic and worse as it went on. Religion itself does little, it was the catholic church losing power and protestants sementing themselves in a time of revival. It truly broke down into a power struggle after that first decade with it becoming obvious it lost its original meaning or purpose. The parallels with the Russian Civil War are stark, two ideologies clashing,which to an outsider seem the same but when studied deeper show strong differences, fighting each other and causing untold suffering. The only diffrence is we know Stalin and Lenin combined killed a great deal more people then these kings and queens did.

This song is really good, and the lyrics 'Religion and greed cause millions to bleed' depict that religion has been used by certain people to achieve their goals and create wars.
