I am the brasil.começei to play drums in 11 years, for me the mike portnoy is the second best drummer in the world, always innovating his playing, a true master, lately has disappointed many of his fans more it will be revived again. . for me it is the best, and continues cendo was a great inspiration to me. Portnoy!!

Well, no shit. Have you heard Mike Portnoy play? I'm very jealous of him. I wish I could HALF that good, his chops are amazing. I mean, how can you NOT be jealous of Mike? He had a chance to play with some amazing bands.

I'm a big movie fan too! Maybe not to that extent to where I have a full wall of DVDs and CDs but I'd LOVE a home theater in my own house for Sunday movie nights with theater-like recliners the whole nine!! I too love movies that much too

Mike just seems like one of those guys it'd be a blast to hang out with.

I don't like when people say mike is too arrogant. Some of my friends don't listen to him beacuse of it. he earned a self confidence after he realized what he's capable to do. My favorite is scene from a memmory album buy I like anything else that he does and if you listen, you'll find he is genuine. I've got my ticket to the Supergroup with Sheehan, Macalpine and Sherinian =)

Good obsessions gives good results! Bravo! My vision of the good attitude for creating art. I'm a fan of (good) films too and drum teacher and author of drum methods and I'm not a fan of Mike Portnoy (because I love what he does but ALSO a lot of other great drummers).

Mike Portnoy is very happy with digital recorders, now he doesn't need 5 VCRs to tape all his favorite tv shows when he's away on tour. LOL He was also obsessed with certain tv shows like Sopranos. I have the same taste in film and tv as Portnoy, except I don't have cable or satelite, I'll just buy the shows I watch. Sopranos, Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, etc....and Dream Theater concerts like Budokan and Luna Park of course. LOL

Taking obsessed to a different level. Lol Good stuff.

how can you hate a band for their music? or have they actually done anything to you that would justify the hate? hate the music if you want, that's okay. but if kusinx is a a7x fan i wouldn't feel sorry for him but rather be happy that for him because he found music that he enjoys. i think you should think about the meaning of the word "hate" a little more

A Drum Room full of custom-made kits which a price tag can't be put one... in the hands of a drummer who's stated over-and-over that he doesn't practice, "keep up" or even *play* drums when he's not touring. Seems like a waste to me... I know for myself that's one reason ADTOE was so fresh-sounding for Dream Theater: they had a drummer who clearly gave cared about what and how he was playing as opposed to cramming himself inside the Vocal Booth and shout out guttural, wannabe Lead Vocals.

Please cut the nonsense of who is a better drummer than who. A lot names you folks mention already have state Mike Portnoy as an influence. Grow up and try to have a career like his and the bands and projects he did. Then talk,I didn't see any metal drummer even come close to the musicality of "The Dance Of Eternity" with all those meter changes and that feel. That's my personal opinion. MP will always be one of my favorite drummers of all time.

WAS the fastest drummer and that was for Single stroke rolls... Has nothing to do with his talent as a drummer...
