Darn..the parade at 2.30am is so true...waking up the whole town as if everybody is muslim..like it or not that is a very shameful intolerance act of an Indonesian...good job sasha, you always sharp as usual.. I wish their repentance during the ramadhan can be shown by respecting the sleeping rights of the non-muslim..but of course they will always have an excuses to defend themselves for doing that..

Well the first time I saw it was in a small village of 200 people. Everyone was muslim. Maybe when villagers moved to the city they brought this custom with them and didn't realize it is a different multicultural environment and it could bother others. In the village it used to be beneficial cuz no one had alarm clocks but we all have alarm clocks now. I guess once the tradition is established it remains intact even when it loses it's original purpose.

Sacha Stevenson well, if all the people in the area are muslim, the parade is understandable. However, on many places they know there are some non-muslim lives in the area, yet still they do it anyway..how about sick people?pregnant women? Women in period? They know there are some of the population might not fasting that day, yet they still do it anyway..The fact is: religion is personal business. How I want to please my God that is my business.. my point is the parade is not commentable. Knocking your muslim neighbor door will be a good alternative..

I love your video, Sacha!!!! It can encourage us to be better people. As we know, being a good person may influence our nation to get better. In my opinion, having feast doesn't influence our performance in working. When we work in the office, it needs no energy. So, I think going home earlier during Ramadhan is just a non sense reason.

Banyak kebiasaan yang tidak ditulis di sini, padahal itu adalah ciri khas masyarakat Indonesia. 1. Petasan. Hampir sama di seluruh Indonesia, meredup jelang lebaran. 2. Gendang sahur. Budayanya hampir sama, caranya agak beda. Kalau kami harus nyanyi lagu-lagu yang berkaitan dengan gendang sahur, tentunya dengan disertai rebana (tam-tam) dan hat (ceker). Tapi kalau di Jakarta, cukup neriakin sahur berulang kali sambil mukul-mukul pentungan, itu sudah cukup. 3. Tadarusan. Setelah tarawih, biasanya tadarusan. Ada di mana-mana, paling banyak di masjid dan rumah orang. 4. Makan yang manis-manis. Kalau yang ini, sama-sama udah tau lah. Sama kok di mana-mana. 5. Jualan makanan. Di mana-mana sama. 6. Buku ramadhan. Saat sekolah, Indonesians harus menulis catatan-catatan di buku tersebut selama puasa. 7. Baronda subuh atau bahasa Indonesianya jalan-jalan setelah shalat shubuh. Ada di mana-mana, biasanya saat minggu pertama puasa. Kebiasaan ini akan hilang setelah minggu kedua puasa, dan baru muncul lagi setiap hari libur (tapi abis lebaran sih).
