@@geraldek4948 I agree with you in part. However, the government is given power and a salary to govern the country. Sometimes we have to deprive people of their '''rights''' in order to help them. The addicts have lost the ability to help themselves. The government should take care of the situation street by street. Prepare a tent city for them in the desert nearby, with all facilities. Put up a fence, but they can come and go as they please. Clean and patrol the pavements that was cleared to make sure no newcomers. The addict's choice of drugs should be given to them free of charge and timely wean them from it with methadone. If the drugs are free, that will get rid of drug sellers. Keep them occupied in a little gardening and odd jobs in their areas. Process the addicts, the ones who can return to families or get housing on their own. The others can get on their feet in a timely basis. Let the addicts know that they can stay as long as possible to get back on their feet, BUT, if they leave the area now provided for them and goes back on the streets, they will go to PRISON.
@deidradahl28024 ай бұрын

It's stupidly of pple to think that every person that is in a dire situation like this is a drug addict. Many are disabled. Disability can happen at any age to anyone in any industry. You can be an accomplished professional one day and completely broke the next. I know because it happened to me. My family is in denial of my disability. Complete and utter denial. It's clear to me at this point when pple see disparity they blame everything but themselves. It's American communities that are to blame. They blame drugs or addiction and when they're asked about the underlying source they just scowl and whine like their attitude is justified. Like the outcome is justified. We have more pple in prison and homeless than any developed country in the world. We have the resources to house and feed everyone here easily but it's just the drugs? We used to have more social welfare policies before the Reagan administration dismantled it. Before that happened, before the drug war, and before people just decided to take it out on those with worse outcomes things were genuinely improving. Literally the only time the poverty rate ever actually improved was under JFK's policies. Social welfare is necessary and helping people out... actually does help. Why is that so hard to believe?
