Exploring Sadhguru's take on Reiki. Do you agree with his views? Here's my analysis and what it means for Reiki practitioners. Let's discuss!
Reiki and the practice of Reiki - the popular Indian Mystic Sadhguru has some interesting thoughts on Reiki and I thought I would share my take on his views. I love that you broke this down! I've been practicing for a year and wanting to start taking on more clients. I remember my teacher telling me about not inquiring into my clients experiences and to let go of every session. He mentioned not taking away their healing. It was something I focused on a lot and could see my natural struggle as a people pleaser with less self esteem . This brought it through full circle for me. Thank you!

This is why the single most imporant practice of Reiki is found in the precepts. If they were fully lived, then - as you are correctly saying - there wouldn't be any need for anything else. Thank you for the comment!

I had A Reiko session a month and a half ago. My arms rose up like Jesus Christ during the one hour session. My arms were weightless?! I cried!! And felt so relaxed afterward. The practioner told me I was the only one besides herself to have raised my arms. She mentioned it was our energy.

Aa a student/follower of Sadhguru, I've only heard him give strong warnings like this about a couple of other things... and I think you hit the nail on the head: he's warning about ego (i believe). Your discussion was so thoughtful, and was strangely (speaking as someone who has no experience with Reiki) just what I needed to hear this morning. Thank you. For those who are curious: at Sadhguru's ashram an allopathic doctor and a physiotherapist tend to the ashram residents and occasionally to students of the residential classes. There is also a dedicated rejuvenation center offering programs and treatments (yoga, raw diet, ayurveda, maybe some other modalities) for healing and cleansing. And I was as suprised and curious as anyone by Sadhguru's warning about Reiki, as I'd never heard him talk about any healing modality in this way before.

Spirituality is focusing beyond height into the bing.. all human activities of any sort physical or mental is hold/stop ( no matter how tiny it may be). You are right..., he is right

I've been a Reiki Master for over 15 years and even if I only speak about how Reiki changed my life (& not my clients') in positive ways, I can easily write a couple of pages. I don't know Sadhguru much but this I can tell you: whenever a public personality is telling you not to do something, it means they want you to follow him or her and buy THEIR courses, books etc. I also have a problem with "gurus" who bring God into every conversation. That automatically makes people feel like what they are doing is wrong. If you do Reiki or plan on learning, please do so. It literally changed my life. There is no evil in a practice unless there's evil in your intentions on how to use the practice.

And that obviously is a personal opinion, an observation... not truth, nor accurate. Public speakers can simply share wisdom selflessly as well. The important thing at the end of the day is your ability of discernment both regarding what others say, and even your own thoughts. Instead of just putting everybody in the same basket, disregarding the uniqueness of their soul's mission

@@dablack69 Agreed, but isn't that what you did in your comment? Truth is subjective. There is no ultimate truth. There's your truth and my truth and his truth. Your comment is your personal opinion too. Not truth, not accurate...just an observation as you said yourself.

I do think there is an absolute truth actually, that being complete stillness. Here there is nothing to explain, or define, and at the same time, it contains everything. How an individual intreprets or experiences this can be different of course, but at the end point - even if one experiences a single moment of nondual existence once in their lives - it is enough.

i absolutely agree and been saying it a long time!! you need a higher level of consciousness to understand this!! there are no healers only the need to be healed!!

Thank you so much for this reminder about pushing a "healer's" agenda onto another individual. There are times where I get so frustrated my wife with how she's interpreting situation based off of her past. I think to myself, "why isn't she doing what it takes to heal herself and change her beliefs which are obviously causing her to suffer?" So I find myself medling with her energy, or pushing my thoughts of what (I think) she should do to heal from her traumas to make both of our lives easier. Would I find funny about this whole thing is that, just like the law of attraction, it's when I realize that my ego is really what's flaring up and when I just love and accept her for everything that she is then I noticed the greatest amount of healing and growth starts to happen. So the moment that I let go from wanting a certain outcome and instead just staying present and in the heart are are the moments that My overall intention ends up becoming actualized.

Hello good sir, i agree with your video and information and wanted to add something in, i am fortunate enough to work closely with angels as my spirit guides, they lead me to watch SadhGuru’s that particular video about Reiki healing, and shared with me what was relevant for me to learn from it: What they said was that in basic terms NOT every healer who decides to become a healer, or someone turns him into a healer(ex like you brought up, from a youtube video), should be healing other people, basically said: People who are not divinely guided to heal other people, should not heal other people, healers need to go through a spiritual awakening and then be guided to turn to healers for them to heal and be allowed or be given an authority to heal, then the divine matches the healers with the patients who will both benefit from that session mutually, when a healer who was not meant to be a healer, heals other people, its meddling with their karma and their journey, because some people are just meant to carry certain illnesses and problems as part of their life journey. If you are wondering by the way, because i was, this applies to all sorts of healers including doctors, this put whole new perspective on life for me, too many people are being healed against their highest good, because they go to people who are not meant to be healers/cure their problems, and this messes entirely with both parties karma and journey. Divine is wise enough to match the both parties in a way that benefits them, when someone is meant to be healed by a particular specific healer. I hope this came out clear enough as English isn’t my first language, cheers to you, Light and love brother.

What you are saying is on one level true....But what Sadhguru dscribed was much more deeper ..... To affect other people 's life --- refers to---- Every human has his/her own pranic energies ! And in spirituality and yogic way of life, others also, like Zen, seekers all across the world strive for the ultimate connection with the divine, to make it a reality, to be in yoga (union with the creator consciously) is what people are after.. And that is very sacred .....So very sacred !! But when such cheap healing practices are done, the possibility of that divine connection making it a reality is finished.( for the healer, he/she is using his/her own pranic energy in a very childish way, failing his/her own ultimate possibility and the receiver also suffers the same fate as his pranic energy was affected. And to do that in ignorance/ immaturity/whatever, causing the failure of one's own divine possibility was what Sashguru was referring to...

The focus of Reiki is not one for healing, but rather to live in a state that is called "anshin ritsumei" which is the same as this idea of an ultimate connection. It can be used in a childish way indeed, and that is what I'm getting at in this video. It is a spiritual practice that helps to cultivate oneness, anything else is attachment and, thus, suffering.

Interesting…. I heard Sadhguru’s words before. It’s the first time I hear that someone interpreting his statement to specifically refer to Reiki practice in particular. Interesting.

If before doing Reiki healing, we stipulate that may reiki healing occur according to the divine plan and for the highest good of the person, is it still wrong?

Thank you for the comment - I don't think there is anything wrong with a statement like this, but I would also consider why need to ask the question at all? Rather, perhaps just work on a quiet mind throughout the practice to the best of your ability. I hope that helps!

That was deep ! Sadhguru has never been one to mince his words or soften any blows. 😂 His approach is direct and precise and no nonsense. I came across his video before I watched this one and frankly, I was a bit taken aback and confused. Thank you for your very objective analysis. There's a lot of food for thought in your explanation. In fact, I thank you for helping me understand what Sadhguru actually meant.

Sadhguru comment on Reiki when a person asked him about Reiki practice and karma. Sadhguru advised her not to do it because Reiki practice meddles with one's life purpose. I did read Sadhguru book by title Karma. On the other hand I read an article written by William Lee Rand too how to dissolve Karma.

I think you misunderstood him about people’s spiritual development stopping.. He meant that if there are disciples at his ashram who perform these kind of things he will bring their spiritual process based on the practices he is teaching to stop

No I don't think that he meant it as a threat of some sort. I'm not a follower but I can say with confidence that Sadhguru is not petty. Bruce got it right. Many great spiritual masters have warned about not getting attached to or distracted by development of "siddhi-s" (loosely translated as psychic abilities ) that are acquired as a byproduct of spiritual practices because these ultimately become an impediment in the seeker's own spiritual progress.

So if we are to be completely neutral why would we even want to be a practitioner in the first place? Would you say that having the intention of having a healing take place is coming from somewhere beyond the ego? Where is that fine line between being completely neutral and wanting to (and actively) supporting somebody?

Thank you for the comment - I think we keep with the practice because our lives are most often not neutral - so we have a tool to help us return closer to neutrality. Even when working to support others, I think we are really only needing to focus on how neutral we are in our own mind and body. I think if we keep such neutrality as the focus (both in and out of the practice) then healing, peace, and all other positive aspects of life will slowly and naturally come into place.

But Reiki is universal energy.... chi....prana...universal energy knows exactly what is required in accordance with whatever is right for the patient / client... it cannot override karma... or destiny... the usui method from Japan anyway.... What is questionable is peoples over reliance to the concept of anything we are not.../ does not exist within us already.... perhaps the placebo effect....perhaps wanting something more holistic that considers them as the whole of all their parts....

There is an aspect within Buddhism that one can free oneself from karma if we can recognize the full arrising in a moment. Reiki can help us to arrive to this in our practice if we stay dilligent and keep a quiet and calm mind. I don't think it matters that Reiki originated in Japan as this is a journey that we are all walking at our own pace and direction, imo.
