No problem we just had it around until the release by the FAA. Let me thank the GPA members who helped.

You are welcome, good airplanes, hardly any recent ADs compared to other brands.

I can’t seem to get my hands on a Grumman cheetah or tiger. Any tips on finding sellers before they hit the market?

Nice comment and we hear that a lot. Since these videos have helped bring the price of our airplanes up (since now folks know they are not hard to work on, just a bit different) and are a blast to fly being nimble like they are, keep beating the bushes. & airplanes I know have been bought recently WITHOUT a pre-purchase agreement cause someone just wanted one now. This one will be for sale when done.

Thanks Roscoe, So, initially the AA5A and AA5B aircraft don't look like they're included? Or do I read that incorrectly?
@GrummanPilots3 жыл бұрын
You are correct, Cheetah and Tiger have no worries.

I would think that would have been clicking and popping on the preflight prior to the incident, if the pilot had physically moved the elevator by hand.
@GrummanPilots3 жыл бұрын
It may have not failed until flight loads were on it.

I was actually the student pilot along with my instructor on the flight involving the elevator failure, a through preflight inspection was conducted and the elevator appeared and moved properly through both moving the controls and by moving it by hand, movement was smooth and there was no indication of a problem. It failed on our returning leg to KJYO in stable flight conditions in a slight decent when about 6 miles from KJYO. The failure was very abrupt.

@@cannon8369 Glad you made it safely to the ground. Nice thing about Part 23 certified planes. You can lose one of your three control surfaces (yaw, roll, pitch) and still be able to control the aircraft. Thanks

Not necessarily.

The damage itself may not have been externally visible depending upon how long it had been manifesting. The glue seam can be totally gone but until some cyclic loading has loosened up the area as the skin gets stretched and the rib deforms it can stay rather well hidden to a quick visual inspection. The OEM applied 'peel rivets' on the top and bottom rear corners of the horizontal stabilizer are both a blessing and a curse. They have probably prevented many skins from de-bonding but also hide the damage occurring until it catastrophically lets go.
