Nice video Tom. Watching brought me memories of my first time using the BBE about 4 years back. This new grinder seems like a great improvement. I was never a fan of the BBE grinder so bought a Niche Z and the experience was far superior. Remember that with time using the grinder and seasoned burrs the dialing will get better. Cheers!

I am very confused about your 11 seconds grind time. I setup the machine exactly as you did with the bur setting at 3 and the machine setting at 6. To get to 16 grams I need to set the grind time to 24 seconds 😮

I use the razor to make sure the volume in the basket is right every time i open a new bag, then I weigh it and commit that to memory and put the razor back up till I open a new bag. I just weigh my beans after that (pre-ground, as I single dose with a Niche Zero) and it's pretty simple. I have had variances of nearly a gram for the same ground volume in the basket between different beans PANTHER 1985 espresso is consistently 18.5g in my 54mm stock Bambino Plus over more than a dozen bags. This stuff is good, neutral, traditional style flavor learning toward medium or at least less dark.

Why was there such a big difference in steam time between the first and second cup, from 51 seconds to just 30 seconds,less milk? I will probably "downgrade" from a nice e61 machine to this one, I'm tired of long warm-up times.
@TomsCoffeeCorner
@TomsCoffeeCorner 23 күн бұрын
It gets faster at getting up to steam temperature, and also steaming, once you have already steamed once or twice. So I guess that the thermo block retains some heat. I agree with you on the E 61 by the way. I don’t have patience for those to warm up either.

Will the temperature of the drinks be hot enough since this machine turns off so quickly compared to other Breville machines? That is the only concern I have about this machine. The auto shut-off should be after half an hour, like the Infuser and Express. I get that it has new technology to get up to temperature a lot quicker, but it seems like the drinks cool down pretty fast. Or did you not just preheat the other cup?
@TomsCoffeeCorner
@TomsCoffeeCorner 2 ай бұрын
In my experience, this and all other Brevilles turn off after about 20 minutes, even the Dual Boiler. But it doesn't really matter with this one, since it doesn't warm up the brew group anyway. All the machines with the ThermoJet technology have the disadvantage, that they do not warm the brew group, and therefore the portafilter: Bambino Plus, Barista Pro, Touch, Touch Impress.

Yeah there are different variants... There is the Barista Express, the Barista Pro (which is in this video), the Barista Express Impress, the Barista Touch and the Barista Touch Impress. Only the Pro model seems to come with the dosing funnel. Only the Pro and Touch models seem to come with a Baratza grinder. Not 100% sure on everything but that is my observation from reviews of this confusing amount of versions.

I've been using this machine for almost 3 weeks(Breville rather than "Sage"- black colour btw) and it says that I need to flush, so many attempts and changes..🥲 Now the issue is that my cleaning rubber basket has a hole in it, which what I've seen across the internet is not good at all- because it won't backflush properly and all of water would come out of the portafilter. I don't want to waste a cleaning tablet... should I wait until a rubber basket without a hole arrive or do it with the one that came with the machine? Use it every day;) (Heard that this basket belongs to "newer models" idk)
@TomsCoffeeCorner
@TomsCoffeeCorner 2 ай бұрын
Good question. They seem to deliver these rubber discs with and without the hole, depending on the vintage. I guess it should work with the hole too, but probably not as well. I suppose it might have the advantage however of cleaning the basket and portafilter while it's at it. Cheers!
