This is my 2nd Keurig coffee maker of this model. kzfaq.infoUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first worked fine for more than 2 years, and I could still get a decent cup of coffee out of it if I fiddled with it when I decided to replace it. The problem I had with my first unit was this: When attempting to brew a cup of coffee, the unit would either keep brewing until the coffee was undrinkable or it would not run long enough and the coffee produced was way too strong. I cleaned the unit as best I could but it did not help. So in the end it was just too much trouble to get a good cup of coffee out of it, so I decided to replace it with a new one, which has been working great since I unpacked it.

Just bought this machine so looking forward to giving it a whirl, this vid is great thanks. My only question (before even opening the box) having watched is, what the heck is 'pre-infusion stage'? Is this a widely known part of making an espresso, if so which point? Or is it specific to a setting on the display of this machine only?

Just looking around with a view to perhaps replacing my Gaggia Paros bought in 1992/3. You asked for suggestions for future videos: I'd like to see more about maintaining the machines: over the years, my Paros had one professional service by Gaggia UK (RIP) and more recently I've had to replace a few things, which for Paros/Tebe parts is starting to get expensive now, as the parts are in such limited supply. The Paros was (I think) basically a Classic with a grinder in one snazzy package: when you take the lid off, it's built like a tank, and is dead easy to service. How are machines like the Sage Barista Pro for maintenance and servicing? I'm guessing much more difficult, given you're looking at electronics on the control panel rather than actual switches. Would be interesting to see what you can service yourself, as nobody likes to be without their espresso machine for long. How easy is replacing the gasket?

Hi kev, just got this machine and think your videos are really useful. I feel like I’m pouring good shots and making nice coffee. For 19g in I’m getting 38-39g out in around 27-29seconds. Though on my machine the flow out the porta filter always hits about 15s and stops for a second or two and then starts again. Is this a problem with the machine or my dialling in?? Doesn’t seem to change whether I’m fine or coarse with the grind.. any tips would be awesome!

It's like I cannot control it. Would you be able to give a hint for how can I press this doubleshot button and for example get the machine extract for 33 seconds. Just the machine alone, do you feel this is better or the bambino plus?
@Coffee_Kev

Barista pro has adjustable brew temp, and it's bigger, bigger tank, bigger drip tray, less filling and emptying, and it has an integrated grinder, and separate hot water spout. Bambino plus has the auto milk frothing, tiny footprint, but you'd need a separate grinder. So which is better for you would just depend on which one fits your needs the most. Ta Kev

@ChrisDavis333

It runs 9 bar, it doesn’t allow anything above thanks to an over pressure valve. The way it’s set up you’re going to get a very consistent 8.5-9 bars of pressure for the life of the machine, the pre infusion is around 1 bar.

Hello Coffee Kev, fantastic videos thanks keep up the great work & I’ve hit that subscribe button ! Just a question on my Sage Barista Express (non-pro) if you don’t mind. My portafilter sprays coffee out from the sides I think it’s out the spout but there’s that much spray it’s hard to see where. I have changed the main seal in the group head but the old one was still intact. I did change the o ring on the spout but it’s strange you can’t buy the exact size or any o rings from Sage. Do you still recommend the bambino plus + grinder Instead of this?
@Coffee_Kev
@Coffee_Kev 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan, Editing this reply slightly as I've just seen you're asking do I recommend the Bambino plus & grinder instead of this. I've said previously that I recommend the Bambino plus & smart grinder pro vs the barista express - mainly because of the lesser grinding range on the BE. With the pro, though, in my humble opinion it's a closer battle, due to the increased grind adjustment and other features I've mentioned in the video. So I still recommend the Bambino plus & smart grinder pro - but if I were on the market for a set up at this kind of price point right now, I'd be struggling to make the decision to be honest, and this will be the subject of a later video. I think they're both great options, there's pros and cons for both. In theory I'm put off integrated grinder machines as the burrs are warmed up by the ambient temp of the internals of the machine, and because usually, the grind settings are limited. I think the espresso range is almost the same on the barista pro as with the smart grinder pro (30 grind settings, smart grinder pro has 60 but that includes filter - cafetiere range), and I've been really impressed with shot quailty so far with the Barista pro, so I'm under the assumption so far that the grinder being slightly warm doesn't do much to the shot quality, but I will be doing some blind taste testing to explore this more. Cheers, Kev

@@Coffee_Kev thanks for the brilliant reply Kev. I purchased an encore at Christmas and only really want something to make the odd espresso when I have time. Would the encore be ok with the bambino plus? If the answer is no and I then need to purchase a dedicated espresso grinder am I not then better off buying a more dedicated espresso machine such as the gaggia? Then coming from that thought process if it’s just for the odd espresso then the gaggia has the associated warm up time etc..
@eliottlewis4571
@eliottlewis4571 3 жыл бұрын
I currently have a bambino plus and baratza encore and although it isn’t perfect you can get very good shots. The main issue is the adjustments to grind size on the encore are too large, however I’ve been able to mess around with ratios and timing to more or less overcome that.
@Coffee_Kev
@Coffee_Kev 3 жыл бұрын
@@RyanF91W Hi Ryan, I'm sure the encore would be "OK" just depends on how finely you want to dial in really - I think you may be slightly limited on fine tuning with the Encore, but if you have it already, I'd say just try it, if it doesn't work for you, upgrade :-). Thanks Kev I am just about to purchase the barista pro. I am a complete newbie but would like to buy a machine that will keep me ging for 5 years. I seen a review online saying if you go with 18 grams that limited with the amount of coffee I will have access to & very limited with the amount of different coffees will have access to. (said its fine for dark roasts but will run into touble when you need more than 18grams) T hey said the dual has a 58mm portafiler & 22 g of coffee beans which is a better option? pro has a 54mm portafilter & 18 g of coffee beans am I limited with the 18 grams of coffee? Thanks so much for your reviews on the brink of pulling the trigger on the pro
@Coffee_Kev
@Coffee_Kev 6 ай бұрын
Hi :-). Can you point me in the direction of this review so I can understand what's being said, please? The barista pro basket is 54mm. If you're using stock basket, and using the razor tool to keep the dose volume the same (7mm headspace in the basket), then the dose weight will range from around 18-19g give or take half a gram or so, depending on the beans you're using and the grind size. The Dual Boiler comes with basket that will usually be about 21-22g when the dose volume is at the razor tool level, again depending on the beans and grind size. I'm not sure what is meant re 18g limiting the range of coffees you'll have access to, but in my opinion the machine itself (being an integrated grinder machine) is what limits the range of coffees you'd have access to, not the dose weight. If you're wanting to use lighter roasts, especially lighter roast high grown washed processed, denser coffees, really you need a fairly high end grinder, the integrated grinder in the Sage/Breville machines is fine for more standard espresso blends, but they just won't quite have the grunt and the burr quality than you'll need, and the temp control precision (although I think this is secondary in importance to the grinder) that you'll need, to get decent results with more challenging lighter roasts. I'd say the same for entry level stand alone setups, fine for more forgiving beans, not really the right gear for more challenging light roasts. If you're aiming at being able to pull shots with the full range of beans at your disposal, I'd highly recommend re-thinking the integrated grinder route. Start out focussing mainly on the grinder, put as much as your budget into the grinder as possible, start out with an Aeropress if you need to, or a budget machine, Delonghi Stilosa, Dedica, the new Gaggia Espresso, and then just upgrade the machine when you can. Most people don't want to hear that as putting money into a machine is way more exciting than putting money into a grinder ;-), but it's the right advice. Integrated grinder machines are great when it comes to convenience, some of them including the pro are OK for home barista use up to a point, but if you're wanting to really get stuck in to the home barista hobby, I wouldn't go integrated grinder if you can help it. Ta, Kev.

HI Mick. I'll test this and come back to you. In theory the barista pro grinder is set up for espresso only so I'd imagine it would be limited when it comes to grinding courser. Also it's made to grind directly into the portafilter but you could get a dosing cup. Cheers, Kev

Dont use milk much. Is it any big different between 58 and 54mm in taste? (I used to have a coffeeshop, so know my way around 58mm) the pro cost about 550 euro and dual boiler 1400 euro... Is it worth it just to get the 58mm filter.....or maby the dual boiler is that much better and more stable...?
@Coffee_Kev
@Coffee_Kev 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, there's a difference between the two machines for sure, but in my humble opinion it has very little to do with 54/58mm. The Barista pro is great for what it is, but it's an integrated grinder machine with an on-demand water heater. The Dual boiler is on another level, in terms of temperature stability, temperature precision & control, control over the preinfusion time and power. It's not a fair comparison of course as they're in different price brackets, but the Dual boiler in my humble opinion punches way, way above its weight! Cheers, Kev
