Love finding Michigan channels. I'm in the thumb and have been searching for the bite. Thinking about heading to Essexville to the river this weekend. I've never caught a walleye before. Nice videos. I subbed.

What's your setup? Jig ounce? Rod length, power, and action?

Jig weight really depends on the current conditions, but I’ll typically use 3/16 or 1/4 oz. I like a 7’ rod, medium or medium light power and a fast action. Typically using 10lb braid and a 10lb fluro leader.

The bite on the Saginaw is definitely best in spring and fall. Usually it picks up in September and only gets better until ice up

Ben Breaker I know spring bite is best everywhere lol. I’m just a walleye guy and have never jigged Saginaw river just maumee, Detroit, and my main st clair. I have shore spots I can limit all year on st clair from shore. Thank you for the info.

Dont walleye need to be 15" in Michigan?

Most places yes, but they only need to be 13" in the lower Saginaw River! It makes it a great spot to catch eating size fish.

This was at Vets/Wenona park in Bay City. Either side of the river in that area can produce fish.
