Pomp And Circumstance March No. 1 by Edward Elgar
Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free,
How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
Wider still and wider shall thy bounds be set;
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet,
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet.

@@flaviusbelisarius7517 kinda. Though they don't officially recognize each other's saints after the split, there is still a ton of respect for them. You will be hard pressed to find an Orthodox who doesn't at least privately recognize Joan of Arc for example. The version of the story I prefer is in which the dragon doesn't terrorize the village, but its presence poisoned the air and water. To me, that works better as a metaphor of evil, and lines up better with older dragon mythology.

O God, who granted to Saint George the strength to sustain the torments he received for our holy faith; I beseech You to prevent my faith from wavering, so that I may also faithfully serve You with a sincere heart unto death. I ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. St George, a faithful servant of God and invincible martyr, you were favoured by God with the gift of faith, and inflamed with an ardent love of Christ. You fought valiantly against pride, falsehood, and deceit. Neither pain nor torture, sword nor death could part you from the love of Christ. I fervently implore you to help me by your intercession to bear bravely the trials and temptations that oppress me, so that I may patiently carry the cross which is placed upon me. Let neither distress nor difficulties separate me from the love of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Valiant champion of our faith, assist me in the fight against all evil.

Of cause god does not need a human souls help, but I sure do! The Saints can Intercede on our behalf, just as the living can, this implies that they worship the god of the trinity. Happy Saint Georges Day😎They have tried the same thing in France, my country, a few years ago they tried to remove a statue of Joan of Arc, and let's just say it didn't go well for them😅. While I think France has lost a sizable part of its soul since the French Revolution the French Spirit still remains, Bravery, Loyalty, and Perseverance in the face of terrible odds are some of the hallmark traits that still endure, such as in WW1 and WW2 and this spirit is embodied in our Patron Saint Joan of Arc. I am not afraid, I was born to do this. - Joan of Arc's last words.

An excellent video Your Imperial Highness ! I must say that the story of Saint George is most fascinating, I will be sure to tell of this video to my friends who are some of England's Sons. It could certainly do them some good. (especially since one them has admitted to have taken a liking to some of Marx's teachings, which I find most unfortunate). I am always happy to learn more of European (and in this case English) history and some history relating to Christianity is rather pleasant. I will be honest and admit I am not quite sure how I feel about Christ and his followers ; I feel as though his teachings of mercy and peace have perhaps lead the peoples of Europe to accept unfair insults and attacks against them yet His story is still most beautiful and inspiring, it is so idealistic and full of love that one cannot help but to be enchanted. There is also the fact that Christ has been in the hearts of Europeans for more than a thousand years, those who seek to honor His words have shown the beauty of God through some of the finest art I have seen, immense cathedrals and paintings of saints and their feats are of such mastery that they leave one in awe of their splendor and I am certainly not one to deny the power of aesthetics. I'm sorry for the long comment I simply feel as though a video which I assume took quite some time to make deserves a bit of extra effort in a comment it receives. I will end on this note. Happy Saint George's Day your Imperial Majesty !

I feel like there’s a lot of truth in thinking that this story originated around the Levant or at least the Eastern Roman Empire. In Eritrea and parts of Ethiopia, there is a story very similar to the one described in the beginning with the snake being called Arwe. Basically the same set up where a monster snake/dragon terrorize and eats human sacrifices until the nine Saints who evangelized Eritrea come along, with one of them initiating the attack and the rest joining in and killing the Snake right before it was about to consume a victim. This also ties into the Queen of Sheba tale however it makes less sense considering these are Christian characters supposedly existing at the same time as King Solomon.

At the end, that's a dragon right there. Cherry picking the past for a favourable present. When I was a child, the lakes near where I was living would dry up in summer leaving shallow pools with the remaining fish. All you had to do was muddy the waters and the fish would swim on the surface and, you could just grab them with your hand. Christians were fishers of men. The dragon can be many things and can be used for both that we perceive as good and evil. It takes a lot of understanding to decide who St. George is and what the dragon is for each area and time. Because it's celebrated in spring it could also be the trials and discernment of all the decisions people took over the winter. A organiser for development and so on.

“Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and it’s Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, “This was their finest hour.” We, the United States and the United Kingdom, have not always seen eye-to-eye, and our cultures might not have much in common. However, I believe that the western principles which both our great nations have held dear are enough reason that we should consider each other brothers. In a world that increasingly seeks to destroy our history and demonize our values, we must stand together, as we once did, in opposition to these forces who would have us live in a world without values and without national pride. May God save the queen and may God bless America. From the United States with love.

As a welshman I feel it's necessary to step in and sing men of Harlech for a bit. :D That said. Despite being massive dicks for much of history :p , I agree it's ridiculous to suggest that there isn't a distinct English culture and heritage worthy of respect and celebration. Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland all have distinct cultures, and even distinct regional cultures within them (Cornwall, Lancashire and Yorkshire for instance have obvious cultural differences from the south east) and all those cultures melt together to form a larger British culture, which again is worthy of pride and respect. Excellent video in general.

I greatly appreciate the enlightening video. To address your latter statements regarding The Englishman: I (as an American) don't quite view you lot as humble. A tad snobby, in fact. However, I can't deny that England / the United Kingdom had done a lot to shape the modern world. My view of you is that you're a nigh-excessively elegant lot, well-educated (or at least well-spoken), delightfully formal in your presentation, and somewhat friendly. Perhaps I'm simply sour as I'm of the opinion that you (and many Europeans) seem to have forgotten the generations we sacrificed to save Europe from itself in the 20th century. Brexit aside, it baffles me that your wider populace seems to buy in with Merkel's desires to accept an unbound number of immigrants to your nations, immigrants who are so clearly different from the native populace and whose values might so differently clash with your own that your very futures are at risk. I'd also mention I'm somewhat turned off by the constant portrayal in our media of the English accent as one of desirable taste, one of intellect and good and proper fashion. All the same, I wish you the best and I do hope England / the United Kingdom perseveres through these trying times. I like Brits. I like Scots. If nothing else, we speak the same language. Just can't figure your aversion to gun rights and getting your hands dirty like Uncle Sam's boys do.

The English invaded these lands 1500 years ago they are certainly not native, that would be us Celtic people the English are possibly a legitimate British ethnicity separate from the Saxon region at least in time it's been 1500 years things change. but they are not native they did not spontaneously arrive like the Gaelic and Britannic Celtic people, they are not even the Vikings or Romans they are a mixture of germanic North Celtic stock creating a melting pot a little Neapolitan blob on the Atlantic coast. Conjecture I would say it's why they are so racist because they are self-conscious this is the English psyche it doesn't know whether it's a Celtic hippy or a germanic bureaucrat lol. Speaking as a pan Celtic person everything except continental in me I welcome the English. Celtic mythologies are basically a list of migrations we are not anti-migrant it's why we didn't annihilate the English as soon as they arrived but we are taking control back this is our land since brexit England can't be trusted. English dominance rose out of the Normans leaving englishness properly defined really starts to emerge and for roughly 1000 years they have slowly taken and lost he's here Celtic Atlantic Isles Britain and Ireland. My people are at least 3000 years old easily twice the age of the English realistically we inherited a lot of pre-celtic proto-celtic neolithic culture culture. And finally an overly dramatic statement fraught with peril like Beowulf hanging off the cliff the Golden Dragon him, dramatic pause when Stonehenge is more valuable to the English then Big Ben they will understand what it takes to master this land the way we Celts do. Something something Industrial Revolution global warming the English secretly hate nature maybe Darwin made up for their wrongdoing flip a coin this was fun sassanach very inspiring. If you made it this far I'd like to point out that having a trinity a triskele of ethnicities in these lands would be the beautiful Anglo-Saxon the Gaelic and the Welsh. As they are at the moment in alphabetical order with the modern English words because 3 is a very sacred number to us we're quite easily pleased lol.

@@aintnoslice3422 If the Celts aren't indigenous and the Anglo-Saxons cannot be said to be indigenous even after being in the land for centuries, who can be said to be indigenous to the British Isles? Moreover, none of this does much to dismiss a more fundamental point that England is the home of the English and British people today and they don't deserve mistreatment and nor do they deserve individuals or groups telling them that the British Isles don’t really belong to them. If it is permissible to insult Englishmen and say they have no claim to the land which their ancestors have lived in for centuries, then it must also be permissible to do the same to the Maori in New Zealand and to the Native American Indians in America, for they are not “indigenous” either as they came from other lands originally. Yet both groups lived in these lands for centuries before Europeans encountered them and I haven't met someone who has seriously tried to argue that the American Indians and the Maori are not native or indigenous to their countries. @@kingemperorpenguin1 Again, you don't know what indigenous means. Indigenous means the earliest inhabitants of a Land: Not anyone who's been in a place for a long time. That is true for the Aboriginals, Maori and Native Americans, not the English or Celts (or almost all Europeans ethnic groups for that matter). There were multiple now extinct neolithic and prehistoric peoples who inhabited Britain before the Celts (the earliest of which had Dark skin, which is not relevant, but always for some reason infuriates white nationalist). If you want to extend 'indigenous titles' to the oldest 'surviving' people, then sure, the Celts are indigenous. You talk about respecting the land rights of Australian Aboriginals, and Native Americans, and Maori, yet these people don't have their own land (and i bet you'd be one of the last people to admit to the barbaric and cruel actions and legacy of the British Empire or champion the repatriation of the British diaspora from "the colonies" so these indigenous people's can have their own nations. Though I'd be happy to be proved wrong). 'English and British people'? And who gets to be English according to You? Do you get the right to be the judge? That's lucky. The perimeters are always political. Don't use dog whistles with me. People who are born in England, who consider themselves English, who's ancestors have lived in England for generations, who have embraced every faced of English culture and values are dismissed of their identity as English because of the colour of their skin or doctrines of their faith. What is with those people who have an obsession with race/ethnicity as the defining or primary measure of a person? Who'd consider a white person born in England who rejects all manners of 'English culture and values' "English" before an ethnic Indian/African/Muslim who does. Its the great fallacy of racists to see ethnicity as a measure of nationality, or racial/ethnic identity to be an eternal, distinct, universal truth, rather than the fluid and structural entity it is. What "mistreatment" are you talking about? Actually treating minority populations as human beings? Actually admitting to the shames of Britain's past as well as its accomplishments? Stop 'policing' who is English/British as if they have that right in the first place?
