Hello, my dear viewers and subscribers !
Today's video dedicated to the Saito FA180 engine, which was purchased on eBay few years ago and just few days ago was mounted on the bench. First, Part 1, probably, you may have seen the first part of this video this week.
Today's Part 2 dedicated for cleaning, assembling and first trial run of refurbished engine. Should say, that this engine was real, a very nice surprise for me, especially after full refurbishing routine. Now engine is shining in the rays of its own glory - it performs so nicely and I've not seeing any flaws in it. Great engine from any point of view.
Thank you for watching and have a nice day !
With best regards from ‪@crazyengines88‬

Thank you for your comment ! Really, I was very surprised of the engines' performance results after refurbishment. Saito FA180 is a very big discovery for me, even being used a lot. I think, that possibly, a few hundreds hours of a flawless operation could be achieved. Great engine, has a huge potential. That's not all, I've some plans for it. Thank you and have a nice day !

@@remkojerphanion4686 thank you for your comment ! 🙂yes, I've some plans for exactly this engine. It should becomes a main part of the special setup. For flying purposes, of course. Let it be secret for now, because I have to arrange some mechanical work for that engine, some things couldn't be arranged faster, unfortunately. I'll keep you informed 🙂

Yes! Fenomenal power and vibrates a little too.

@@aileronmodelismo That's Saito FA180, no words. Such high vibration levels are noticed by a lot of engines observers, in M.A.N. articles, too. Too much uncompensated reciprocated mass, heavy prop, plus my bench stand wasn't not so sturdy mounted. I think, that this vibration level is the price we should pay for so compact concentrated power.

What liquid do you use for ultasonic bath cleaning?

Thank you for your question ! Usually, it's a standard kerosene, sometimes, when the sooth and residue deposits are well concentrated, I' adding so called "carburetor cleanser" aerosol packed can, with also intensive brushing. The only precautions you'll need - not to dive rubber parts of an engine into kerosene for more, than a few minutes. Rubber parts could be destructed, especially is they are relatively old. For a few minutes it will be not a problem, it could becomes even a bit more flexible. I think, cleaning the engine with all precautions is worthy of a separate chapter, according to my experience.

Hi, thank you for your question ! Sorry for the late reply, this week was very busy. In general, I'm using standard kerosene, it's very good for dissolving fuel residue, carbon sooth, etc. In case of some castor polymerized oil residue, the most effective remover is a kind of bitumen dissolver, usually it's sold in car/auto cosmetic shops, as "bitumen drops dissolver /remover" or something like this. You'll be also involved in the thorough hand work, as brushing, because old polymerized castor residue is very resistant. For cleaning with brush some kind of "carburetor cleaner" aerosol tools could be used. Only one precaution - rubber parts (O-rings, rubber shims, some other rubber part of an engine), doesn't like to stay long in kerosene, it's slowly becomes destroyed. 5-10 minutes i kerosene - will be OK, but more definitely I would not recommend. Fell free to ask other questions, have nice day, thank you !
